I came across this place when I was looking for a local jiu jitsu school for my son to train in. I trained in jiu jitsu years ago, and I loved it. I just happened to notice this place across the street from Little Gym(where my son was going at the time) not long after it opened. I’m glad I found it since the school I used to train in was a Relson Gracie academy also, and I really came to appreciate and respect the style. Mike, who runs the place, is super down to earth. He’s really patient with the kids during the children’s class. It can get a little wild at times which is understandable as the kids are various ages and are prone to getting distracted. Mike makes sure each kid gets attention and that they all learn whatever new move is being taught during a class. My son, much like the rest of the kids, likes Mike a lot. He can’t wait to go class each week, and I’m always impressed with how much he is learning and remembering. There’s also an adult class five times a week. I’ve started getting back at it on the nights after kid’s class(Mondays and Wednesdays). It feels great to be training in jiu jitsu again. Mike takes the same patient approach to the adult class that he does with the kid’s class. He’s very knowledgeable and relaxed when it comes to training. He takes time to make sure you really understand a new move and how to implement it into practice or a real situation should one ever occur. I highly recommend checking this Relson Gracie jiu jitsu academy out if you’re even slightly interested in learning a form of self-defense, want to get into shape, or have your kids learn something they may actually use one day.
