This place is very expensive and not worth the price as its outdated and very noisy. Beds aren’t the greatest but other than that it’s fine… Until you see the mold in your shower/bathtub and my shower’s drain wouldn’t work unless you held it up. Otherwise it would fall and start making a bath. Food is delicious but overall it’s not worth it.

Tv remote doesn’t work, now I have to get out of bed to turn off the tv. #firstworldproblems Reserved room with AAA discount but forgot my card upon check-in, so front desk wouldn’t honor AAA rate. Then, hit w $ 12/night for Parking! Icing on the cake, Room kind of smells like a 1972 motel 6 and bath tub has moldy tiles.

The room was a nice size. Separate living room area and small bar. The maid service was good. Staff was friendly. Shower was a bit weird. There appeared to be the start of some mold around the shower. There was no bath. The hot tub was broken and we were pretty disappointed. We called down a few times asking about it. Honestly, if we had known it was broke we would have stayed somewhere else. Rooms advertised they had pay per view — they didn’t let us order the ufc fight though. It was within walking distance to many places. The convenience shop stayed open late. We almost bought hummus but it was expired. Luckily we always check expiration dates. We opted for chips instead. The bar/restaurant closed at 10(weeknight). They offer free drinks and snacks nightly and free breakfast. We didn’t make it to either but the thought was nice. You have to pay $ 12 a night for parking in the garage. Overall it’s a pretty lobby, okay room, good staff but wasn’t up front about the hot tub and didn’t go above and beyond in any way.

VERYNOISY! Don’t go here for sleep. I even specifically asked for a room NOT on the side with the Emergency Room across the street and the hotel was not nearly full at 1:00AM. Instead they gave me a room that was about as close as you could get to the Emergency room with active ambulances and lots of truck reverse beeping 24 hours. I was too tired to request a new room at that time and it took a while to find someone to check me in. Then to add insult to injury, construction began right outside the window at 7:00AM. And could hear the TV next door Not easy to figure out where to park and the process to get in. And the two TV channel listing cards were totally wrong. This can’t be an unexpected new thing. Who puts in all the rooms a guide that is totally wrong. Just don’t provide anything. Definitely would move on if looking for a quiet and relaxing place to stay

I am struggling to find the reasons why this hotel is so very expensive for the area. Although the rooms are large and have a separate living room space with a desk, some of the rooms are in need of a renovation. There are pluses, however, to this hotel. The lobby is great and it’s different from the standard«out of the box» Hampton Inn or similar chain hotel fare. There is a really good breakfast that offers made-to-order omelettes and plenty of other choices and it is included in the(huge) price tag. Just as an aside, the person who was manning the omelette station is the most sour employee at this property. Everyone else is extremely helpful and friendly. There is an adequate fitness room. When I was there, it was undergoing some construction and there was a lot of dust on the equipment. The elevators are efficient and will get you to where you need to be very quickly in spite of the large number of guests(I had a room on the 9th floor). Another plus is the managers happy hour, which happens every afternoon around 5 pm and goes on for a couple of hours. There are light snacks and drinks. The hotel is ideally situated near places for dinner and most of the really good places(some I reviewed earlier last week) are within walking distance. There is a parking garage nearby. The parking situation in front of the hotel is tight. But that’s ok; I don’t mind the short walk. It is, however, $ 12 a day(!). Overall, the property provides a pleasant experience and I would stay here again.

PROS: The hotel receives 2 stars for the nice lobby and breakfast food. The hotel has a nice pool and workout room. CONS: My room was severly outdated and was very basic. The refridgerator did not work properly and the beds were uncomfortable. The shower curtain smelled and the bathroom tile looked soiled and gross. What else could you ask for in West by god Virginia?

The hotel is very nice however management is lacking. Please clean the exercise room and scrub the equipment needs a thorough cleaning. The bathroom is filthy totally freaked me out the ceiling is missing. Love the sound system and music

Nice hotel located in the center of Charleston. Room was large. Seemed like a decent restaurant downstairs but didn’t dine here. The 2 star review is from the 50 minute wait for the discourtesy shuttle to pick me up from the airport after being told 10 and the bullshit excuse that there was traffic. I watched the Holiday Inn shuttle go and return while I waited and they are right up the street. The fitness center was rundown, the tv didn’t work and the stationery bike was not so stationery and wobbled around like a junky Schwinn. Also, the bathroom was not clean and had hair in it.
