I’m not a vegan. Not even a vegetarian, but this place is amazing. A tiny restaurant with a reggae/hippy vibe. The mahi fish tacos rock. Everything is bursting with incredible flavors and colors. Would eat it everyday if I could. Can’t recommend enough.

This place is amazing. All the food was delicious, tried the jazzy pizza(my favorite!!!) the Thai bowl and the beach wrap? All were delicious, I am not vegan or vegetarian but everything was great. I will be back!

This was one of the best VEGAN meals I’ve ever had! I had the vegan BLT wrap and a coconut water, orange, ginger, spinach and cucumber smoothie and it was delicious! The goddess sauce is the best part! Highly recommend for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters alike!

This is a gem off of the beaten path. Located in a funky little neighborhood with(in the words of our server) «spirited neighbors» lol! If things get rough toss one of their frisbee sized cookies at whoever causes a ruckus. Seriously though this vegetarian/vegan restaurant had been recognized by local and nationwide magazines and websites. With good reason because the food is outstanding! We thoroughly enjoyed the Beach Bum wrap! It was beautiful to look at and was loaded with scrumptious goodness! Savory w/a tad bit of heat this is a very satisfying choice. Also loved the Thai bowl. It was a comforting Asian dish with traditional flavors that really hit the spot. The menu has an extensive selection and it was difficult to decide because everything sounded wonderful and looked beautiful. Service was super friendly w/warm smiles and helpful suggestions. Even if you’re not a vegetarian this will satisfy. Parking available at rear of restaurant.

New to the city of Charleston and all I’ve been doing is eating. Tho it’s the right place to be doing such, my stomach needed a break from all the heavy consumption. I popped into dellz one afternoon after hearing it was a really good vegan spot and I figured that would probably be a lighter option. Really cute little hole in the wall, has a feeling of home. Not some kind of pretentious aesthetic, def focuses more on the food which is great. Me and my friend split the Thai bowl and what I think was called the high on veggie wrap. Both were so extremely full of flavor. The Thai bowl was a hot bowl and was on the spicier side– not like hot spicy but flavor spicy. The wrap was really hefty in size but light on the stomach and delicious. The portion sizes were large so we were able to take home half of the wrap and some of the bowl which came with really fluffy pita bread. Super pleased with the price and quality! I can’t wait to go back and try it all.

Delz Uptown is a pretty funky little spot. Very laid back joint with solid eats. I had the«La Chic Ha Beef» wrap and it was pretty good. A little spicy and creamy with vegan cheese and rice on it. I say this joint is funky because it’s so laid back. A bunch of mismatched glasses sitting next to a pitcher of cucumber water serves as your only drink option. If you choose to dine in you have your choice of a dozen or more brain teaser games to manage the wait. This was fortunate because on my particular visit my friend and I had to wait quite a while for our wraps. All in all I was not disappointed with my food, but also not particularly blown away. Hence the 3 stars, however I saw that they have a ton of vegetarian and vegan options. I imagine if I were a herbivore I would have been more impressed.

We went today and I think I will be dreaming about the food I wanted to get –as well as the food I ordered — until the next time I can make the pilgrimage downtown. It was the most delicious vegan food I’ve ever had, hands down, and some of the best food-food, no qualifiers, that I’ve ever had. We had the nachos and oh my gahd. Will be back. Again and again.

I’m alsways looking for vegan spots when I visit a city, and this popped up on the Happy Cow Guide; so glad I went! I opted for the meatless sloppy joe of sorts in a wrap. The portions are huge-I mean the wrap was the size of my hand. It was delicious. It’s exterior is very unassuming but it has some unique Caribbean charm once you enter. Place your order at the counter, grab whatever seat is available, and wait for your food to come to you. Lovely spot and I’ll definitely go again.

It’s so nice to have a healthy, affordable option downtown(or anywhere, really). Dellz takes simple dishes like black beans and rice and elevates them so they feel different and better than you’d ever expect. Speaking of, I love the black beans and rice and, like everyone else, the jazzy pizza.

3.5 It’s too bad the woman behind the counter had such a troubling* attitude because there’s a lot to like at Dellz. But, sighs, eyerolls, sucked teeth, and drinks delivered at the end of a meal(as in after everything has been consumed) are not ways in which to enamor customers. It speaks to the strength of the food and the overall vibe of the restaurant that the star rating is as good as it is. I was immediately in the right frame of mind to check this place out as the neighborhood and exterior of the restaurant reminded me of New Orleans. Once I stepped inside, smelled the spice and heard the Caribbean music, my endorphins started to rise. I got to the counter, all smiles and happiness and received — bam — NeNeLeaksface. What? I know that you never know what’s going on with a person when you encounter them. And I, certainly, hope that nothing traumatic was going on in this young lady’s life. But her immediate dismissive and annoyed attitude took away from the bright colors and melodic music wafting through the air. It was a shock. My friend and I looked over the menu and settled on what we wanted. I went with the portabella mushroom wrap and, because I am a sucker for bright paint and whimsical penmanship, a berry good smoothie. The smoothie was advertised on the wall and promised to be a fruit explosion in my mouth. As we waited, we poured some infused water(thank goodness for some sort of drink) and perused the hot sauce bar. My friend ordered the loaded nachos. I stayed away because meat substitutes are a lie from the devil and a pox upon my belly. Well, I tried to stay away. It seemed like the only food we were going to get was the nachos. I ate around the loaded part and concentrated on the chip and bean. It tasted good but I was hungry and beans on chips *should* taste good. After my friend polished off the nachos and we stared at each other for a little bit, she asked the woman behind the counter about my smoothie. Guess what the response was? See above. After another forced staring contest, our food(not the smoothie) came. I was pretty hungry(in light of recent images of *real* hunger in the world, I am trying to stay away from first-world usage of words like ‘starved’ and ‘famished’) so I dug in. Admittedly, the wrap was good, really good. It was a hefty serving of mushroom, artichoke hearts, feta, and spinach(amongst other grilled and seasoned vegetables). I washed it down with cool, lime/mint water. The water was fine(and, free) but I’d ordered a smoothie. As I took my second-to-last bite of my wrap my smoothie came with a bonus eyeroll. Winner, winner, fauxchicken dinner. The smoothie was just what you imagine it would be. Perhaps it was a better dessert than meal accompaniment. I upped the ante by taking an oversized chocolate chip cookie to go. Sadly, the vibe of the restaurant wasn’t reflected in the staff. I know things happen in people’s lives but… damn, Gina. Come focused on the bright, positive parts of Dellz and relegate yourself to letting things happen the way they happen and, I think, you’ll have a good experience. The food, without question, is worth trying. The process to get to that point is a little tough. *Bad. Stank. In need of adjustment. It all fits.

Five stars because the Jazzy Pizza is the absolute best pizza I’ve ever had!!! My mom and I were in town for my cousin’s wedding, which just happened to be during historic flooding in Charleston. The first day we arrived, as the streets starts to literally fill with water, we visited Dellz. Our first time there, I looked at reviews and knew the Jazzy Pizza is what we wanted to try. Simply amazing. Unique. Spicy. Healthy. Filling. Huge. The price is pretty high but it was more than enough for two people. We took just under half the pizza home it was so filling. Cool, hippy, laid back atmosphere. Friendly staff. No soda machine or conventional soda, just a small selection of natural beverages in the cooler. I have been dreaming of this pizza ever since and am going to attempt to recreate it in my kitchen this week. We live in Ohio, but if we ever make it back to Charleston, this will be the first place we eat!

If I ever had reason to move to Charleston, I’d make sure I lived somewhere easily accessible to Dellz. It’s not just the food but also the vibe… but it’s absolutely the food too. Sure, food is 10% better when you get a late start on your day trip, drive an hour and a half, spend an additional hour walking because you underestimated the distance on the map from your parking spot, and then finally sit down to eat lunch at 3pm. Maybe even 20% better. But even after discounting that extra 10−20% of delicious, Dellz still gets five stars. Everything tasted so fresh and body-welcoming(you know the feeling when you eat something that’s both good and healthy where you can practically feel it permeating nutrition into your cells? — or maybe that’s just me) that it could easily be a weekly destination if I lived within weekly destination distance. I had the vegan snobby joe wrap. I love snobby joes(it sounds proprietary, but I’ve had a cookbook that called them that, too — hooray for self-deprecating vegan humor), and this one combined more delicious ingredients than two hands could possibly hold inside a standard-sized wrap. And holy(guaca)mole, it was huge. We forgot to bring utensils to the table for ourselves, but when pieces fell out I ate them with my fingers, mostly because I didn’t want to waste the time getting up for a fork when I could be spending that time eating. Ok, so maybe it was also because my hands were covered with green goddess dressing, which made the prospect of squeezing between tightly packed chairs unpleasant. But still! Sweetie had some other kind of wrap with black beans in it – possibly even the black bean wrap itself, though it might have been the«steemin’ beemin’»(whatever that means). Regardless, she was about as blissed out as I was. If there is a downside to the place, it is the close quarters. There is a lot of table-weaving to be done if you find yourself in a corner. And, uh, yeah. That’s the only complaint I can come up with. Whole lotta yum.

Seriously scrumptious. I was hesitant to go somewhere so healthy, and chose this place for my vegetarian friend, but I was delightfully surprised at the full flavor of the meat friendly chicken wrap. I ordered dressing on the side but it was so flavorful with salsa and beans that I didn’t even barely use any of the goddess dressing. Super friendly staff, the owner was sweet and knowledgable about the various options. My friends and I were glad to find this gem of a place!

The vegan nachos = epic. Make sure you get the completely tricked-out version. It’s rare that right off the bat I declare the must-get dish. I’m prone to preamble, after all. I like to discuss the moment I cross the threshold, hell, sometimes even go into what led me here but it’s my duty to divulge the real deal and it’s not a fancy dining room. Sometimes you just need to gorge and I can’t think of a better thing to gorge on than nachos. Because I was traveling all day the day prior(my dinner consisted of Corn Nuts), I arrived at Dellz in desperate need of copious amounts of nutritious food. My eyes landed on their decadent smoothie list but I knew I was going throw back one of those babies, I was going to be finished at the gate. I ordered the nachos and one of the bowls on the menu that might have been Thai(it involves coconut rice, vermicelli and lots of vegetables, along with vegan sausage). The nachos arrive *smothered* in goodness: guac, beans, vegan cheese, sour cream and seasoned fake ground beef. Nary a naked chip to be found. It’s the ultimate cheat meal and I didn’t feel an ounce of guilt when I scarfed down half, nor did I feel an ounce of guilt when I scarfed down the other half 6 hours later. I’m still thinking about them, if you must know. The Thai bowl is infinitely less thrilling, though. The veggies were too chopped, the vegan sausage just not the right protein(should be tofu instead) and the entire thing was kind of flavorless. It’s OK, because I was already stuffed from the nachos. Next time I have my eyes on a pizza back following those nachos! At the counter there was a plate of enormous cookies. Not vegan. It was a little bit of a bummer that they didn’t have any vegan desserts, I’ll be honest. I normally take something to go for later. Service also left a little to be desired, as they have half service: you order at the counter and they bring the stuff out to you. The gal at the counter served my friend his smoothie far too along into the meal and she completely forgot my glass of wine. I don’t think it’s fair to make a counter person do all the labor-intensive smoothies, take orders and serve people, so I don’t blame her. Come on, management! It was a Saturday brunch, after all. I’d normally give three stars, but those nachos are just that spectacular. Can’t wait to return on my next visit to Charleston. One other cool thing: bring your omnivore friends because they have a non-veg menu, too. I appreciate this because sometimes you can’t get people to eat at veg restaurants and then you’re the one stuck at a restaurant ordering a salad or detestable portobello sandwich.

Their Jazzy Pizza gave me do jazz hands the rest of the day after I ate it. Need I say more? I think not. But, since a two sentence review is kinda lame, I will. I also had some of their shrimp wrap and it was so tasty! I can’t believe I waited this long to give it a shot, I’ll definitely be heading back. That pizza is big enough for 2 – 3 to share, btw. They load it up with goodness!

Two thumbs up from me from the Caribbean-inspired Vegetarian/Vegan eatery Dellz Uptown! The food here will fill you up without the guilt– with lots of amazing wraps, pitas and rice bowls for both carnivores and vegetarians alike. All of Dellz meat-free offerings shocked me with how much they mirror the real thing– such as their Tofu, Hot Fakin Bacon and vegan sausage and chicken. I especially love their protein-packed rice bowls, such as their My Thai Bowl made with a killer sweet Thai sauce. Their wraps are huge in size, so I many times order one for dinner and take half home with me for lunch the next day. That is if I find the will power in me– since they are dangerously delicious. What a great spot. Offering a wonderful variety of green and meaty, Dellz is conscious of the power of good food. Despite your preferences, you will find something to keep you coming back. This go round, I had the My Thai Bowl. There was so much flavor going on in my mouth, I had to pause, chewing real slow like to really savor and appreciate the goodness! For the quality and quantity, they are reasonably priced. The service is always pleasant and casual, which I always appreciate. Getting the food out for a few dishes takes a little time. I believe I waited for a little over 15 minutes with only a handful of people in the dining room, but the phone was ringing off the hook, so they definitely get a heavy load of pick up orders. I also really dig the space. I feel like I am sitting in a familiar space when I come to Dellz. Good Music(Toots, Bill Withers – say WHAT?), comfortable atmosphere, funky cultural décor; very cool. The location may not seem ideal, especially for drivers, but the handful of times I have driven, parking was never an issue. To top it off, they have the nerve to have bigger than your head bad a– chocolate chip cookies?! Dellz is definitely a diamond in the hood.

I was really sad when they closed Dellz on Cannon because it was so close to my house, but the off-street parking of Dellz Uptown makes it a very accessible alternative. If you’re looking for a quirky lunch stop in Charleston, give this place a try. I usually get the hummer or one of their chicken wraps, but everything I’ve tried has been delicious. All their food is organic/farm to table and they have free cucumber water. The wait tends to be around 10 – 15 minutes, so don’t come here in a hurry. Portion sizes are pretty big, I usually eat half the wrap for lunch and save the rest for dinner. Each wrap comes with chips and a slice of pineapple.
