Friendly and efficient here, although sort of difficult to get to as it’s in the middle of Franklin Street madness. Got my passport photo taken here and was in and out in less than 10 min.

I have spent too much time and money in this Walgreens in my life. Ever since it opened on Franklin St not a month has gone by that I haven’t been inside. This was especially true when I lived on campus and needed something, like hair dye or shampoo. Trouble was that this often turned into meandering down aisles and buying things that I didn’t need, such as nail polish, hair spray, and other fun things that I would find. A trip to Walgreens would often turn from a quick trip to pick up one thing into a long trip where I’d walk out with several. While they all were good quality products I’d use I didn’t need them in the strict sense of the word. Decent amount of makeup, cosmetics, medicine, and toiletries as expected. Also a selection of greeting cards, clothing, seen on tv gadgets, and school supplies. Also shelf stable food and a freezer case full of frozen food. As the shop is on Franklin St there’s also a display of UNC memorabilia and souvenirs. Although if that’s what you wanted to buy I don’t know why you wouldn’t hit up one of the numerous specialty Tar Heel stores on Franklin or even the Student Stores on campus. Gets only 4 stars though because of OBVIOUS inflation of prices. I get that it’s a case of supply and demand and a lot of the demand is coming from students without another choice of stores and are possibly even desperate but still no need to take advantage of students.

Walgreens, which has been in a building state for months, is now open on Franklin Street. Considering its proximity to UNC, it’s a decent alternative to the on-campus convenience stores, with similar opening and closing times. Service is good, though the upselling is obvious(they asked me if I wanted gum after I had already bought gum there). And the place is nice enough, though not as homey as Sutton’s down the street, and not as expansive as the 24 hour CVS(though laid out better than that place). If you need something and it’s early enough in the evening, it’s there now.
