Destenee Salon And Spa

I had gone to Destenee Salon two times before today and I will not be returning. I asked for highlights in my hair but was not made aware that the red in my hair would make it orange if it was bleached – yes, that may seem like a no-​brainer but the stylist looked at the photos and said «oh yeah, I can definitely do that. It will look beautiful on you.» So, my hair did turn orange and to fix it they covered it with an all over color; then blow dried it to see what it would look like. I got to the register and it was 190 dollars. I was charged to have their mistake fixed, and the blow dry itself was 30 dollars, which I was not made aware of. Long story short, I left crying and tried to get a refund with the help of my boyfriend. I ended up getting part of my money back but not until after Bobbi, the owner and manager, laughed at me over the phone for assuming that I could get what I wanted from the picture I showed them. Even while I was still in the salon Bobbi was rude, acted like I should have known better than to ask for a lighter color than what I walked in with, and hammered home the fact that I really shouldn’t have expected highlights with red undertones in my hair. How was I supposed to know that?
I left with my feelings hurt and an ugly head of hair. I will never go back and I highly suggest you avoid this place.

Please go to Destenee! A full service salon/​spa. I am 64 yrs old… and have lived in this area for 10 yrs. Trust me… they are very professional, very expert in all aspects (hair, nails, massage, facials)…they even offer threading. And pricing is certainly VERY GOOD.
My stylist at Destenee is Noushin. She is a conscientious, very particular about her haircuts… and a master of mine… which is the classic «bob» angled longer– front-​to-​shorter back. Not everyone can do this cut. And her highlights are amazing. I always get compliments.
I have tried another place that is a Chapel Hill institution in this industry off and on over 10 years… and Destenee comes out on top.
You will be very happy at Destenee.

I went to this salon today and had an updo done for a wedding that I was attending. I am from out of town and unfortunately did not thoroughly ask about pricing. I had a relatively very simple and nice updo done. The stylist was nice and courteous. I was in the chair for 35 minutes at the most. When I went to the desk to pay, I was shocked when I was told it was $ 75. I live close to NYC, and even most salons I have frequented do not charge even that much. Had I known it was so expensive, I would have never booked the appointment for a simple hairstyle I could have gotten for much, much less. Be aware.

I had such a terrible experience here, I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone that is looking for a high quality cut or color.
My blonde color turned out very brassy and orange looking. They called to have me review their services and I explained why I was unsatisfied. They kindly offered to have me come in to get it fixed which I thought was very nice but when I got there they told me that the color looked just fine to them!
They offered to tone it to «maybe fix some brassiness» but that there wasn’t any problem with the color. They also insisted that I pay for highlights again to cover the root growth between the original bad coloring and when I went back to have it fixed.
This was the owner of the salon and I felt that she was just trying to charge more for services and not admit that there was a problem. The whole experience made Destenee’s hair salon seem so tacky and unprofessional.
Also, I paid over $ 200 for a cut and color originally which seemed extremely overpriced. The cut didn’t seem to be anything more special than a straight chop at great clips even though I asked several times for layers.
In the end I didn’t have them fix anything and went to my hairdresser in another city to have everything corrected. She couldn’t believe that a salon owner would think my hair looked good and asked me how I could have waited to see her so long with such an unnatural looking hair color.
Please do not go to this salon. They were completely empty both times that I visited and I expect that is because I am not the first person to have such a frustrating and unprofessional experience.

Easy online booking and good massage services from my personal experience. I have yet to try the hair salon but from what I seen it looks very promising.

I think they are a bit overpriced for the quality. I was astonished when I went to pay. My hair didn’t look nearly good enough for those prices. If you want to spend that kind of money I suggest Mina’s Studio.
For reference, I went to Destenee’s for a hair highlighting and trim. She didn’t highlight my hair nearly as much as I would have liked. And she didn’t discuss my desires enough before starting.

I got a
deal to Destenee and was skeptical whether a salon with a 50% off deal would be any good. I had a great experience — Whitney was my hairstyist and recommended a good cut and look for me. The salon itself is located in a small strip mall but inside it’s very clean and modern, a little pricey for a cut that took only about 15 minutes but my stylist took the time to explain and answered my hair and styling questions and I came out with a good haircut and understanding how to manage it better.
Not sure if I’d go back because of the price though I had an overall good experience. I’d give it 3.5 stars if I had a choice but since I don’t I’ll round up.

I got a bad haircut here and an average facial.
My hair is very difficult to manage but my stylist assured me that he was an expert in my hair texture. The cut seemed to go well and I was happy with the length when I left. Then I styled it the next day and found that the cut was not easy to manage at all. He had cut one very thick short layer on one side of my head that, regardless of how I styled it, would stick up. If my hair started to frizz at all during the day that one large chunk of hair would start to fluff up and stick out which looked ridiculous especially since it was only on one side of my head. I ended up wearing my hair exclusively up for a month and getting my hair re-​cut by someone else once that layer had grown out a bit. For the price of a cut at this salon with a master stylist I expected way more.
For the facial, it was just fine. It was very relaxing but really did not do much to improve my skin beyond being very moisturizing.

I went here because of the Livingsocial deal they had. I went for a Brazillian. When I first got there, they said the wax was not hot (to be fair, they had said this had never happened before) but I still had to wait about 15 minutes for it to heat up … just lying on the waxing table. Then, someone needed to be trained so there was a lady watching the entire process. I had agreed to it, and I didn’t mind that she was watching (it’s just a job) but I didn’t realize that that meant every single step was going to be slower and explained in detail. So, the whole process took about an hour and a half. The lady who did it was nice and everything, but being waxed for that amount of time is really not fun. Will not be going back there.

This place has HORRIBLE customer service. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! They quoted us one price and at the end of the day tried to charge us a LARGE amount more! And when we complained the owner did not have the decency to even SPEAK to us about it! She was standing ten feet from the front counter!!! I called and was put on hold for five minutes then hung up on. AND the way they talk to you is just RUDE RUDE RUDE! (Carrie the make-​up artist is awesome.)

I walked in for a brazilian and came out with an awesome haircut! I know way too much info ;)
Well, to start, when I first called, the girl at the front was awesome. She answered all of my questions and made notes of the important details in my file. I called 5 – 6 different salons that day to get some info, and everyone of those places hurried me off the phone. So all of my addresses were addressed immediately with the lady that was there.
While I was waiting in the lobby, I started talking to one of the stylists. I started telling him that i wasn’t all that thrilled about my haircut, and he threw out some ideas for me. So, I basically took a leap of faith and he chopped up my hair and i loved it!
It’s not the fanciest spa/​salon, not like a some that I’ve been to. but i really appreciate the service and effort and quality that is offered here. the prices are fair and you’ll feel great about leaving a decent tip. definitely worth the trip!
