Alex the Salon At Ocotillo

I had a terrible experience, and was not satisfied at all. The whole time, Alex’s coworker– a young lady– kept telling me to give great reviews on Unilocal so that they could get more business. Then, when Alex finally greeted me, he asked if I had a picture. I showed him the picture of the girl with platinum/​blonde ombré that he dyed (the picture is on Unilocal). He said ok and got to it.
Without my consent, the woman started taking pictures of me, which totally put me off. When it came time to blowing out my hair, Alex asked if I wanted straight or curly. Just like the picture, I said I wanted it straight, and a LITTLE curled on the end. He proceeded to curl my entire head of hair so that he could «get a good picture for Unilocal».
After finishing, he asked if I liked the color. I said I thought it was going to be a brighter, whiter blonde like the picture, and he went on to tell me that my hair color is too dark to come out that white with just a blonde dye. He said I should have specified I wanted white/​silver.
I showed him a picture and he should have told me that was not possible in the beginning.
Long story short, I will not go here again, and do NOT recommend.

I’ve been going to Alex and Abby for about 2 years now. They both are very eager to please. I had my hair colored today and my nails done and both were good experiences. I will continue to go to them. Had to kid Alex. He was putting ketchup and mustard on my hair but it turned out beautiful.

I wrote a review for Alex two weeks ago while I was in Arizona. I live in Alaska and was visiting my in-​laws. The first day I got into town I Went to a salon that my mother-​in-​law had suggested and had terrible results. I left crying. I Was only in town for four days so two days after The first terrible haircut I went to Alex. So very happy he fixed me right up. My husband went to him the next day and his haircut was awesome. Made him look younger. (we are in our late fiftys) My mother-​in-​law just called me and told me she went to him (she’s in her late 70s) and said she loves her hair cut. He now has 3 new clients for life. every six months my husband and I come to Arizona and We will make sure We see him

This is not a great review but I share the blame.
I went in for an eyebrow wax. The gal swooped me in a chair and had wax on my face in seconds. This is where it’s my fault. I should have stopped her and told her what I wanted specifically. Then again, she should have asked how much I wanted off. My brown are very thin (for me) uneven and a small patch is missing altogether. It doesn’t look horrible or anything but definitely not what I wanted. You can always take more off — but you can’t put it back! I will NEVER go back.
The Good — quick and cheap and polite
The Bad — she assumed she knew best and did what she wanted and the place is really dingy and dirty/​old looking
My responsibility in this is that I didn’t speak up for myself. If I had, the experience would have been better. Also, at first glance I thought they were okay, and I told her that and tipped her well. I shouldn’t have because when I looked closer I was like… oh no! At the same time, what would complaining after the fact do? I can’t paste them back on!

Terrible and unprofessional. I got my hair dyed here after reading only good reviews on Unilocal.I don’t understand how I am the only client on Unilocal complaining…
While Alex was dying my hair, he spilled drops of hair dye and chemicals all over my clothes, face, and arms. After I told him this, he took a dirty rag and cleaned it off of me… not very professional. I realized he never covered my entire body with one of those robes that salons usually put on you when they dye or cut your hair. WhenI finally got out of the salon and back home, I noticed the back of my sweater was completely stained with the hair dye! On top of it all, my hair is unevenly dyed and looks unhealthy. I would not recommend this place to anyone, it’s not even cheap.

Alex is amazing! I have been going to him for a couple of months now and will always continue to go back. It has been so hard to find someone who does good highlights for a blonde and Alex always makes my hair look amazing! I recommend anyone check out the salon, you will not be disappointed!

Alex is so great. He is not only very nice but he does his job right. My little brother goes to him all the time. We live out in Mesa and it is kind of a drive from where we live but he won’t go anywhere else but here. Very professional and kind to all customers.

Just wanted to say how pleased I am with Alex and his salon at ocotillo. He cut both my hair and my mother’s and did a superb job on both. Alex is very courteous and really listens to how you want your hair to look. His salon is spotless and nicely decorated. I haven’t had my nails done, but I have been told the technician there is great. I highly recommend Alex for an excellent and professional haircut and style. And though I don’t color my hair, I have no doubt he does top-​notch work in that line as well. We will be repeat customers.

I have seen Alex for highlights, color and haircuts he is a great hair styles. Also Abby is the nail tech and she one of the best in the business. They both do a great job and very professional.
