I walked in while my car was being serviced after being in a minor car accident, my massage therapist had suggested I see a chiro as he thought I may have a rib out of place. I explained that I did not have insurance for a chiro and would like a list of fees for my possible rib problem, Dr Dave stated that he would be happy to give me an evaluation to see if chiro care would be right for me and I agreed. I once again asked about the fees and was told that he would give me the fees at the end of the eval so I assumed the eval was complimentary as most chiros do give a complimentary eval. Well, he took me back and ran a nerve scan, touched my back and said I needed three x-rays. I assumed I would have a small fee for the x-rays, but whatever. At the end, Dr Dave tells me that I need to come back the next day to get the findings and that I need to bring a friend with me… excuse me, I do not need anyone else to make decisions for me, then he charges me $ 250.00 for my evaluation! Oh yes, you read that right, $ 250.00…he could not have told me that up front? So the next morning, I go back because for $ 250.00 I better be able to get the results, and he tells me that my problems are old problems and that my neck(which never bothers me) is curved in the wrong direction… really because nothing was bothering me before the accident and he tells me I need an adjustment right there and then, and you guessed it before he will tell me the price of an adjustment! I tell him I do not have time and I want the fee schedule, he argues that health is a choice, blah, blah, blah! After 15 minutes of his health is a choice arguement and him telling me that this is why I should have brought a friend, he goes into his treatment plan for me, this is funny. He expects me to come in every day for three weeks, then three times a week for a month, then once a week for two weeks, then once a month for maintanance. Now, you have to realize that I travel for a living and I already told him this, I am only in town two weeks a month, so that just does not work for me and the best part is that he wanted me to pay $ 2100.00 up front for my first 31 visits, who charges a cash customer almost $ 75.00 per adjustment? Dr Dave is a sales man, plain and simple, he has no idea what he is doing when it comes to the cash market in the chiro world. I have since called 4 other chiros in town and every one of them stated that for cash patients the eval is complimetary, the adjustments are between $ 30-$ 45, a set of x-rays is between $ 36 – 48 and the nerve scan is free. Please save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else in town. In this economy $ 250.00 is a lot of money to cough up when you are least expecting it.
