There isn’t a specific location to make a comment on the new store called«Back To The Media» inside our small mall, so I’ll just leave it here. Do not go into that store. It may be «awesome» to have a nostalgia trip, but for how much they hype up this store on their FB page, it is the most pathetic thing I have ever seen. Their idea of «busy» is about 4 people just browsing. The selection is slim, I could find their selections at a small yard sale honestly. That’s pretty much what they are to this mall. They only sell what people trade in or donate, making it have an even smaller selection. For running two businesses like this, it really sucks and is not worth it. They also have a Gamecube game in there for $ 150? After googling the game, you can buy it on Ebay for $ 30! Not worth the trip to that dinky store. Also, they«say» they have loads of NES and N64… When I asked to purchase either one, they said they were unavailable right now. After I walked around more, the back room door was open and I saw about 10NES just sitting there! The worker didn’t talk to anyone and she was rude too. I do not recommend this place ATALL.

This mall, desolate and dying is very depressing and on its way out. The big retailers that were in here like Sears and Jcpenny left because they weren’t making money I assume. There’s a hand full of stores and no food court, only a pretzel place and some other tiny places. A company bought out the mall and put some strange antique store where Sears used to be but Its been at half capacity for the longest Time. There’s a GNC and Victoria secret. The only two large stores that are left are Burlington Coat Factory(really messy and unorganized) and Bön Ton(really pricey). I wouldn’t be surprised if more stores within the mall close their doors. We would always laugh when we walked in because at any given day or time it was always dead, with nobody there.

This mall is all-around disappointing. Prior to this year, Chambersburg Mall had four anchors: Sears, JCPenney, Bön-Ton, and Burlington. Now, it’s only left with Bön-Ton and Burlington. The interior spaces haven’t fared much better. The mall recently lost Hallmark, Deb Shop, GameStop(it’s pretty bad when Chambersburg Mall lost a mall staple like GameStop), RadioShack, and will very soon lose Maurice’s(which is moving next to TJ Maxx at Exit 16). The only notable stores still left are Bön-Ton, Burlington, American Eagle, Aero, CJ/Christopher Banks, Victoria’s Secret, Payless, BonWorth, and Books-a-Million. There is also a Gander Mountain on an out lot at the mall’s entrance. Chambersburg Mall has a movie theater, Carmike Cinemas, but even that may be moving to Exit 17 near Target. Gold’s Gym was recently added as a tenant, but that’s not really an attraction for most people. The new owners of the mall do not seem to keep it up very well, as the parking lot is starting to crumble. The interior of the mall also smells musty. Because the mall is located in a dry township, the only dining options in the mall are Bonanza buffet, Subway, and a few pretzel stands. Chambersburg exits 17 and 16 south on I-81 have much better dining options, so it’s worth the trip down there(Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse, TGI Friday’s, Red Robin, Texas Roadhouse, Chipotle, Ruby Tuesday, etc.). Mall ownership recently added Black Rose Antiques to fill the former Sear’s space, and it’s a pleasant place to walk around and look. Still, I doubt it will be able to save Chambersburg Mall from its death spiral.

Sears? Gone. JC Penney? Gone. Hallmark? Gone. Deb, GameStop, also gone. Black Horse Antique Mall is allegedly coming into this mall Summer 2015, but it is mid July and this store is still not open. I have no idea what is going on with this(s)mall, but if you want to see sad and pathetic retail then pay this mall a visit. Gold’s Gym is now in the C-burg Mall(across from Subway and Burlington) and I do enjoy the gym. Problem is, this renovated space has leaky ceilings and broken ceiling fans. The stores that do remain have friendly, dedicated employees that I am sure are just waiting to hear when their respective stores will be the next to vacate. Maybe the new mall owners are using this mall as a tax write off, but if so, they are playing with the lives of real people that need these jobs to make their lives happen. Not cool. Lastly, try Auntie Anne’s new cheese filled nuggets, because they are yummy.

Never crowded. Lacks dinning options. Subway and Auntie Ann’s are the only fast food available. Pizza place and Bonanza are the other choices. The Movie theater is awful… smelly and well worn. We too drive to Hagerstown or Leitersburg Pike to see movies. I believe this Mall started to die when they adopted a «no teenagers allowed» policy. They should have hired a few more rent-a-cops and the place may have remained somewhat occupied. Having the mall all to yourself is good, however it is so vacant it seems it’s dying a slow death. Sad.

Recently the Chambersburg Mall was sold to a new company. This has given me hope that they will make some changes. I think the main issue with this mall is the severe lack of dining choices. Malls with food courts tend to do much better overall. This mall doesn’t have a food court. In fact, it doesn’t have much to choose from for food. Subway is their main attraction. As for shopping, that’s also lacking. I mainly go here for JC Penny, occasionally Victoria’s Secret, Sears, or the couple of shoe stores. Zales is handy for having my wedding set cleaned and inspected. The theater here is just sad. We’ll drive to Hagerstown for a movie before going to this theater. You pay enough as it is, so you want a decent theater to sit and watch! There is a positive about this mall; it’s empty! If you do want to head there, go on a weekday and it’ll be like having the mall to yourself. That’s kind of nice, no crowds. Even on weekends it’s not that crowded. I know they’ve tried new stores in there, but they just fail. I really hope it doesn’t go out all together, because a few of the stores are indeed nice to go to on occasion. Given how long it’s been like this, I don’t think it’ll disappear, though.

This is my hometown mall and I feel bad because it used to be a great mall. It really went down hill around 2005 but doesn’t seem like its ideas to revive it made any long term effects. They brought in a Burlington Coat factory which was huge. They also they added an Aeropostale. JcPennys, footlocker, Gnc and AT&T are still in their original places. The whole mall needs a new face lift to rejuvenate the whole building. It’s not the go to mall where kids hangout or your guaranteed to run into someone you know. This used to be my old stomping grounds and I don’t want to see it get pushed off to the side.

It’s convenient for the movie theater, but if you’re looking to shop for anything, just keep driving in whatever direction you’re going until you hit either Hagerstown or Harrisburg.

Ok… this mall has improved with its selection over the past few months. There are name brand stores in there and it feels like a mall again. That said, if you are in a wheelchair or need to borrow a wheel chair, be forwarned… do not use the ADA access by Burlington Coat Factory. There are no buttons to automatically open the door. The ramps are painted nicely but the only automatic door openers are by the movie theater and JC Penney. You can borrow a wheelchair and stroller at the facility but be prepared to have to do find the mall office to do so. It’s not conveniently located in the middle of the mall or near the ADA entrances. Stores now in that you can go to: Burlington Coat Factory, Bath and Body Works, Aeropostle, American Eagle, Penneys, and more.

Technically speaking, this is not a mall. Chambersburg is where old malls are sent to die… and I’m pretty sure this one is already dead.

My 13 year old calls this, «The pathetic Mall». We actually think they are slowly shutting it down by letting each store close at its own snail pace and then when people finally realize there are no more stores they will close up shop, bull doze it and HOPEFULLY start all over. There is NO saving grace with this shopping center. Even the«theater» is lame. They couldn’t get me in there if the ticket price was $ 1 but they have the nerve to charge full price. Its dirty, dark and half empty… maybe by Halloween it’ll be perfect for a «haunted mall». Maybe.
