Due to summer solstice, I came to Woori last night with a craving for cold noodles. Given, this probably isn’t one of the items they’re known for so I guess I shouldn’t keep high expectations for it. The cold noodles were lackluster and the buckwheat noodles were not even comparable to the ones made at Somunnan or Gombo Wang. At least now I know. The galbi was good and the banchans were alright, although the kimchi and pickled cucumbers did seem drenched in chili oil, which I’m not even sure if that’s a typical ingredient for these banchans. So here is the lesson to be learned: Stick to Sommunan or Gombo Wang to satisfy your local cold noodles cravings.

Second or third time here. We love their short rib soup. Meats very tender and are generous with side dishes(: probably my third favorite korean soup spot!

Met a friend in Cerritos for breakfast and she found a place that was open early enough(apparently, Woori opens at 7AM on Saturdays and Sundays). I feel like I may have eaten here or at least in this plaza a long time ago, back when I still lived in Cerritos. The restaurant is small but cozy and very much feels like a mom-and-pop place. There is a relatively short menu, with accompanying photographs on the wall. However, most of the offerings are soups and noodle, and the options here are different than what you typically find at most Korean restaurants. Service was friendly and attentive the entire meal, even though we didn’t speak Korean. There are a few breakfast specials offered from 7−10AM, so I opted for one of them, a beef bones and meat soup that came with a bowl of rice. It was served with some scallions and you could add salt(already on the table) to taste. My friend ordered a cold noodle dish. Both of our dishes were very affordable, especially when you consider that Korean food is usually a more expensive cuisine. Probably our one complaint is that there were only three banchan dishes, but that may have reflected our small dining party size and/or the fact that it was breakfast.

I am not too familiar with Korean cuisine except for the kimchi, side dishes, barbeque, tofu soup and kalbi beef ribs. I do eat a lot of Asian foods then like to try something new sometimes. I had the beef short rib noodle soup(Gangjatang) adding the fresh green onions and roasted salt for more flavor made it delicious. The noodle soup felt like comfort food to me when it was hot and I could enjoy eating it slowly savoring each bite with some soup broth. All the food on the menu looked delicious too. Maybe I’ll come back really soon to enjoy some Gangjatang and other Korean dishes.

Decent Korean food. small mom/pop place in cerritos. These ladies speak english well, so no worries. good amount of selections from stews to soups to noodles. got the Gamja tang(pork neck stew). came with about 4 huge pieces of pork bone, dig through them for tender meat. it was topped with veges and had 1 huge cube of potato. they serve purple rice here. pan chan was good, all seemed to be on the sweeter side, including the kimchi. service was good, they didn’t rush you or bug you too much.

Often go here on Sunday afternoons for lunch, with a group of anywhere between 6 to 10 people. Usually not crowded at all. The sullungtang is tasty, but I wish they would have the gakdoogi(radish kimchi) that they have in other sullungtang spots. You can do much worse than this place. The Gamjatang tastes very good, but the meat is sparse. Mostly bone. Parking is plentiful

Had a late lunch here since we were in the hood, a very small Korean restaurant but very clean and relaxing. Hubby had been here before with his co– workers when he was working in this area. We had a Hite beer to start, it’s my favorite Korean beer. The side dishes were fairly good, liked the potato salad and spicy spinach. Menu is usual traditional Korean food, many meat based soups, not too much I can order. We shared a seafood tofu soup, soup was flavorful and comforting, seafood was fresh and decent portioned. Hubby had cold buckwheat noodle with beef, he was craving this today, so he really enjoyed it. The bulgogi was very well marinated, hubby liked it a lot. My spicy buckwheat cold noodle with raw sole was yummy, I liked the flavor, but the raw fish was hard to chew. The noodles were very good, I love buckwheat cause it’s naturally gluten free! Overall the food was tasty, service was fast and friendly, this is definitely a decent neighborhood Korean restaurant to dine from time to time.

Came here for the first time today. The restaurant was a little hidden away, but once we founded we were seated right away. We ordered the following: Jap chae — really really good with large strips of tender beef Kalbi tang — very mildly flavored and yummy Gamjatang — one of the yummiest I have every tried. Tasted very home made. Bulgolgi — the flavoring was fantastic. My husband said it was the best he ever had. Green onion pancake — this is more like a giant seafood pancake with green onions in in, lol. It was delicious. I would definitely come here again. But I do have to say that the interior and the service were just ok(expected blasé attitudes from authentic asian places) Also, the banchan dishes really lacked imagination –basically all different variations of daikon… I know daikon is in season right now, but really, 4 out of 5 banchan was ALL daikon. But I would definitely come here for the main dishes again.

Don’t Woori, feel crappy. Do Woori, be happy! Woori Korean Restaurant, serving Korean comfort food at the former location of Tofu Village, is open early for those looking for some hot soup or other dish to start their day. Being on an Asian soup craze lately(and how can anyone not be?), I made the quick jaunt over to Woori during lunchtime for the ox blood hangover soup, just in time for Halloween. Vampires, anyone? Ox blood hangover soup– Irony, mineral-y, squishy — I loved it! Generous amounts of congealed blood, served in a piping hot bowl of soybean sprouts, cabbage & green onions. The broth was rich & I found the soup to be hearty & satisfying. The cabbage slices could’ve been cut into smaller bite-size pieces, but overall, I really enjoyed availing myself of the hangover soup. Unfortunately, no sikhye for dessert :( The banchan were good. One of the ladies asked if I wanted more. Heck yeah I want more! I always ask for more banchan, so it was a nice gesture to be asked preemptively. Barley tea, hot or iced, is also provided complimentary. A small restaurant, Woori can surprisingly accommodate around 50 people with their table seating, albeit in a more cozy spacing. A flatscreen TV has Korean programming on for diner’s viewing pleasure. Service was good. The ladies were friendly and appreciative of any questions I had. Being thanked on my way out was a simple, but much welcome gesture. Parking is in a private lot, with Woori on the left of a physical therapy office. When I come here, I don’t Woori that I won’t find a great meal for an inexpensive price. That’s because Woori has got it going on. Specializing in soup, Woori has savory dishes as well, to satisfy everyone. Include beer & soju, and it sounds like it’s chow time! I enjoyed my quick lunch & I plan to be regular at this local Korean restaurant. Highly recommend! NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

So I’m always looking for a great local spot, especially when it comes to comfort foods like galbi tang, gamja tang, or anything else that sounds awesome. My bro recommended this placed based on reviews and my initial impression was that it should be worthwhile… and it was. This is a general Korean restaurant that doesn’t necessarily«specialize» in any one particular dish but they seem to b well known for their galbi tang. They have good usual Korean dishes like bulgogi(rib eye marinated chopped beef), galbi tang, and other soups, neng myung(cold noodle dishes), and other stuff. We were early for dinner… a tad before 5 pm so the place was empty. That was great for us. Service was accommodating and friendly. We ordered: galbi tang — beef short rib soup = 4 stars soon dubu — spicy Korean tofu hot pot = 4 stars bindeh dduk — Korean style bean pancakes w/scallions = 4 stars Service = 5 stars Price = 4 stars banchan side dishes = 3 stars Overall 4 stars. The only thing they could do better is offer better banchan. It was adequate but nothing spectacular. The kimchi was in fact a bit sour. Definitely would come back.

Newish business took over the Tofu Village restaurant spot in this shopping area off Bloomfield & South street. Just happened to try this place because it was open on a SUnday afternoon! Classic cold naeng myun noodle soup was served with ice still in the broth and that did not take away any flavor at all(maybe its’ broth that was frozen?), nice chewy noodles, served with shredded cucumbers, half a hard boiled egg in a perfectly sized portion for one. Cold buckwheat noodles with raw sole: look out for a few fish bones but that’s the way it comes. Noodles with young summer radish kimchi has a rice noodle and great broth. Stir fried squid with vegetables was excellent. Just enough spiciness and sweet, almost like a take on Chop suey. Panchan was cold, refreshing and kimchi was served in whole pieces, then cut up by the waitress/owner at the table. I appreciated the family style vibe. Very attentive service when we were there.

I found a new Korean Restaurant close to work with a near perfect rating on Unilocal so decided to try it out for lunch a couple of days ago. Woori Korean Restaurant is a little hidden inside the plaza that hosts Red Palace Korean BBQ on South St and Bloomfield so its easy to miss like I did during my visit. Parking during lunch hours is tight but available. At the peak lunch hour the restaurant was about half full which I took as a good sign. The menu at Woori Korean Restaurant is very similar to what you will find in other Korean restaurants and is heavily skewed to stews with a couple of noodle and stir fry dishes. I decided to get the Ox blood hangover soup($ 7.99) as I had not seen this dish in other restaurants so I wanted to try it out. When I asked for this I got an almost stunned response from the sweet lady who was taking order. She tried her best to tell me that it contained«blood» by showing me a picture of the dish and tried her best to re-direct me to get something else, but I would not have it any other way so I stuck with Ox blood hangover soup. I quickly got about 5 different banchan(side dishes) delivered to my table along with a pair of scissors. Getting scissors is something unique to Korean food and very early on I learned the importance of scissors specially when eating noodles(you have to give the noodles a couple of snips to make then manageable to eat) but as I had not ordered any noodles I was not why scissors were provided. This became clear as I started to eat the kimchee. Unlike other places the kimchee here was like one big continuous leaf that had to be cut into smaller sizes to comfortably lift up and eat. Taste wise the kimchee was very, very good but the other items were passable. After about 10 minutes or so I got the Ox blood hangover soup. It was your standard Korean beef stew with two large chunks of blood which broke apart very easily and mixed into the soup. I was expecting a metallic taste or at-least some aftertaste of the blood but it turned out to be pretty tame. I feel liver has a more intense taste than blood which is pretty neutral. I had no problem in wafting the soup down to the last bite. Overall it was good but my favorite Korean place in Cerritos would still be Jangkumyine but Woori Korean Restaurant was still very good. The service at Woori Korean was a little too overbearing for my liking but that was partially because of the excitement of seeing someone different. I could pay by card so that was another plus. I will be back to try something else off their menu in due course.

Meh. The soups here are decent but not great. There are better restaurants for korean soup in the Cerritos area. I got the pork bone soup, Yukgaejang, and«Hangover soup.» Price was reasonable, Soups were clean and had a good amount of veggies in it. However, the soups tasted a bit bland… like it needed to be simmered on the stove for a longer time in order for the meat/bone/nutrients/flavor to really infuse into the soup. The side dishes were ordinary too. The one thing I would recommend is their seafood pancake, which was huge and had a lot of seafood inside! But if youre here for soup, just dont have high expectations!

Wonderful owner. She knows how to cook traditional broths true to the korean tongue. I feel like I’m in the jeollado province… the nokdu jun(green bean pancake) is so tasty. It’s cooked perfectly crisp right when you order it, but the ingredients are fresh and the pancakes are beefy. The haejanguk(hangover soup) holds its own too. There’s generous portions of sunjee(beef blood) that are also really good quality. The nakjee bokum has a nice tangy spice to it. I could taste that they only used pepper flakes instead of the paste. Also the green onion stalks… and onions, perfectly cooked. I’ll be back next time I’m in town. :)

Came around 10:00 am and ordered a ddeuk mandoo guk. It was tasty, and some of the side dishes were good too. Overall, I would give this place a 4 for food, but a 5 for service. The ladies who served us were very kind and had smiles on their faces.

I’ve been there for my kids to eat good Korean food. We tried Bul go gi this time, It was sooooo awesome ~ the meats qualities are juicy, tender and succulent. My kids are love this place, I seem to always burn everything I touch when I cook. All in all, I would definitely visit again!!!
