Café was a gem and it is sorely missed. I went here once a week for a year(I stopped going because it closed) and always had a wonderful experience. Everything was amazing… prices, quality, flavor, service, atmosphere… Any bad reviews seen here are because of flukes.

Props to the waiter for his patience and care in handling: my mom and her ordering shenanigans, my sister screaming and crying all over the place, and my dad slapping the table in anger. Bravo dude, customer service is definitely 5 stars worthy. ONTOTHEFOODANDTHEIRAWESOMEDEALS! 1) A Bento Box filled with your choice of meat(Chicken Teryaki, Kalbi, or Fish) + Sushi 2 pcs(1Salmon and 1Shrimp) + CA Roll 8 big pcs + Tempura 4pcs + Salad + Miso Soup ranges from $ 9.99-$ 11.99. DUDE, that’s definitely a steal. My only gripe is that they didn’t give that much meat and the miso soup is a tad too salty. The price is still good though =] 2) Unagi Bowl + Yaki Udon for $ 12, can feed two people! 3) Udon + 8pc California Roll for only $ 5.99. The best Summer deal they offer! You can literally just order this, and be full for 5 hours! However I realize this dish isn’t for everyone as the soup base is a bit sweet, but fear not, you can replace it with Yaki Soba! Worried about Food Coma? There’s a korean supermarket right next door to walk it off. TIP: after 7pm the supermarkets kimbap is half off! Enjoy!

The food here is great, though overpriced to me. I loved the udon and that crunchy stuff they put on top of the noodles, The california rolls were great and weren’t hard or super cold. However, I did take away two stars for hygiene purposes. When I entered, I saw the sushi chef wiping up the counter. After he was done,(without washing his hands, ick) he started making my sushi. Took away my appitite. Ugh.

I’m sorry, but this place was pretty terrible. The only reason this isn’t 1 star is I heard they are fairly new, so I’m not that heartless… Tried this place for the first time earlier today. Usually I’ll go to a place more than once before I write a review but I know for sure I am not coming back here. My brother described this place perfectly. It has the trifecta; bad service, too expensive, and«meh» food. I ordered the Chicken Cutlet combo, which costs… wait, are you sitting down? Go ahead, I’ll wait… It costs $ 13.99. The combo consists of chicken cutlet, small scoop of rice, small salad, and miso soup. For $ 13.99. Wow, unreal. Also, we didn’t even get our miso soup. We had to remind them about it. The place was relatively full, since it was lunch time. I understand it can get hectic, especially since it seemed there were only 2 waitresses. Also, it looked like there was only one sushi chef making the orders. But it doesn’t excuse the fact that the service was bad. We got our food really late. We were a party of 5(no, not the TV show) and it took us about 35+ min to get our food. I also saw people having to actually go up to the waitresses to ask for something, to get their check, to pay, etc. There was one table where, no joke, didn’t even see a waitress wait on them the whole time we were there. However, the waitresses were nice and friendly. I’m assuming they’re «working out the kinks» since the restaurant is pretty new. All in all, I didn’t really enjoy my experience here and I probably won’t be coming back, mainly because there are other places that do the same thing… but way better.

My review will strictly be on what I ordered: Spider Roll — This was just ok. There were carrot chunks inside the roll, which I wasn’t a fan of. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE carrots, but it just didn’t fit well in this roll. The soft shell crab itself was just ok. I’ve had it better prepared other places. There wasn’t much of a crunch to the soft shell crab, it was more on the soggy side.(Maybe that’s why there were carrots inside to accommodate for the lack of crunchy). OVERALL: I would consider coming here again for a quick bite only because it’s right beside my house. Otherwise in terms of flavor/quality it’s not really what I’m looking for. I hesitated to order the Hamachi(which is my absolute favorite), but trafficking doesn’t seem so busy here, so that leads me to an unsureness of freshness. Like I always say, YOUWON’T KNOWUNLESSYOUTRYITFORYOURSELF!

I was here last week. it’s.eh. It’s a typical«sushi-roll» place with all your various concoctions that we’ve all experienced. Rainbow Roll, Dragon Roll, Spider Roll, Volcano Roll, Tootsie Roll. The food is ok, but nothing to write home about. I guess if you’re in the area and you need to get your sushi roll fix. stop in.

Very friendly staff. I think overall it’s still a work in progress here. They’ve been open for about 2 months from what I was told. Service is kinda slow, but I was patient. I think they’re still trying to work out the kinks as far as the process is concerned. Food is okay. The sashimi cuts I had were good, but some of the other rolls I ordered were disappointing. Soft shell crab was tasty. Not very expensive stuff here in any case. I like the location, farther away from the busy South St. stuff.

I can still taste the yumminess of the food in my mouth: D During this Lenten season, I avoid eating meat on Fridays. I was torn between eating sushi or Seafood Shack( ) for lunch. My husband said he wanted to eat something similar to Seafood Shack later, so I opted for sushi. I Unilocaled sushi places around the city of Artesia where I work and found this little gem. There was only one review and a pretty good one at it, so I decided to take a chance. It’s in the corner of Carmenita and Artesia Blvd. It’s located in the same plaza as Woori Market. When I got out of the car, I immediately saw a Grand Opening sign for Café Roll & Sushi. This told me that it’s going to be clean inside, the staff are going to be very attentive(as well as the chef), and it’s going to be quiet. When my cousin and I walked in, we were immediately greeted by the waiter and the chef(who shouted something that I couldn’t understand). The place was empty except for two customers and the chef happily invited us over to his bar. When I opened the menu, I knew this was the kind of sushi restaurant I’ve been dreaming of. I’m no sushi fiend. The most adventurous I’ve ever gotten with sushi is yellowtail. So it was wonderful to see baked sushi choices as well as several options of tempura. Everywhere I read, I saw crabmeat here, salmon here, spicy tuna here. I was in love! My cousin and I ended up choosing Alaskan roll($ 6.xx) and Crunchy Tiger Roll($ 8-$ 9). Alaskan roll had crabmeat inside topped with fresh salmon. Crunchy Tiger Roll was made of spicy tuna. Both were extremely delicious and fresh! Customers came in and out of the restaurant, but mostly to pick up to go orders. Some called ahead of time and just picked up their food, while others ordered at the restaurant and waited. I will definitely come back here again!

There are three types of sushi places in my mind: high-end omakase serving, casual sake heavy, or fast and cheap but low grade. Café Roll and Sushi exceeds expectations providing extremely fresh fish and a casual dining experience with the speed and affordability rarely seen at this quality. The walls are painted with modern pop art/comic like murals lending an urban feel to the restaurant and low soothing music makes for a relaxed ambiance. It’s a perfect place for groups, family dinners with kids and casual dates. I can imagine many of the local students will end up frequenting this cute little sushi spot like they do Starbucks. Btw, they also serve Starbucks coffee. I came here for a quick dinner alone and chose a spot at the sushi bar(as I usually do when eating sushi all by my lonesome.) The restaurant is not really set up for the usual chef to guest-at-the-bar experience. The servers take the orders and deliver the sushi directly to the customers even if they are sitting in front of the chef. It might be helpful to note that the Chef behind this restaurant is a 23? year veteran of Japanese and Chinese cuisine, previously found at the Shila Hotel in Korea. The place does have a hotel restaurant feel(see: good ambiance, fast service) and looks like it would be well suited to clone and expand if this location works out well. I had the salmon, tuna and unagi nigiri(all fantastically fresh), the poke salad(fresh fish but not a true poke as it was tossed in a mayo masago mix) and the chef sent a complementary dish that really was a highlight of the meal. It was salmon and sushi in chiriashi sized pieces tossed together with mango and avocado topped with crispy potato strings on a bed of miso based dressing. Absolutely fantastic and I don’t know that it was on the menu! A lot of the menu is made up of krab based or cooked rolls, definitely not my cup of tea, so there weren’t a whole lot of options for me outside of nigiri. It looks like they are pretty inventive with their cooked rolls with dishes like Heart Attack(cream cheese, jalapeño and spicy tuna, I think.) The typical teriyaki and rice options are available also. I would have given the restaurant 5 stars(and might in the future after they work out their kinks) but it was obvious that the servers were fairly new and still learning the ropes. As a result, my tea went empty for a long period of time(I had to ask to get it refilled) despite there being only one or 2 other parties for 2 servers to take care of, they were somewhat nervous instead of typically friendly service and the chef wasn’t particularly friendly(didn’t address me at all) even though I was sitting right in front of him. Lastly, I ordered a spicy tuna roll to-go because they had a spicy roll championship at their Grand Opening and I wanted to take it home for my husband to try. When he tried the roll it wasn’t spicy at all and the fish was not the same quality I had earlier while dining in.
