Center Line Public Library

This is one of the best small libraries in Metro Detroit.
I’ve been going here since I moved to the area a few years ago. Even though I’m a Warren resident, I’m able to use the Center Line library for all my needs because it’s part of the Suburban Library Cooperative.
Center Line’s holdings are small but diversified. Everything is located in one big room. They have several computers right up front if you need to access the internet. The atmosphere has always been quiet and laid-​back when I have gone in. Parking is *much* easier here than at the Warren Civic Center Library, which would otherwise be the closest one for me.
As a history major in college, I spent a lot of time in libraries and archives of all sizes across the country. When you’re doing academic research, you learn to judge the quality of a library by the helpfulness of the librarians and their ability to acquire books on ILL (inter-​library loan). This is where the Center Line library really excels. I’ve always found the staff to be attentive, and they fully participate in the MEL (Michigan E-​Library) program, so you have access to materials from across the state.
