Well I walked in today around closing time and it’s a good thing I did. The doors were closed 15 mins before closing and the workers were ready to get out as fast as they could. I asked them if I could just browse for a minute or two. They said it was fine. They were running a sale, Buy 1, get 2 free or something this week, yeah, seemed too good to be true. Most of the sale items were gone, but there was nothing special to begin with. It’s not that the store itself is so bad, but the prices are just a «little» high. I actually came in for not only the sale, but to try to find a new zip up sweatshirt, as one of my old ones is really beat up. I figured I could replace that one with something else. You guys might have seen or worn one of those very thin, charcoal hoodies, and the similar ones from who I believe is called«BDG» or something like that. I was never a fan of those hoodies, but that’s besides the point. They costed $ 60!!! Well I was in Walmart last week and saw them for just $ 20! Now I shouldn’t compare a locally owned clothing store to a company who orders enormous amounts of merchandise and can afford to sell them at very low prices, but I seen these SAME hoodies for $ 30 at a store in valley stream, which isn’t a bad price at all. Some stores sell them up to $ 35 or absolute maximum $ 40. Private stores need to charge more money to stay in business as they can’t stockpile/order bulk the way a large chain store can, but that is NOEXCUSE for a piece of clothing to be TWICE the amount of money as the average store. For hoodies that costed ATMOST $ 30 – 35 dollars elsewhere costed $ 60 bucks! I mean I just cant get that out of my head my head. Even on sale items, you weren’t saving money. Their«buy 1, get 2 free» is literally around the price of those same 3 items in another store. They never used to be this overpriced. I’ve bought things in Morton’s before and can’t believe the thievery that must go on in this place nowadays. I guess in the end, if you buy anything in this place, you deserved to have the money you just paid«stolen» from you.

Terrible customer service. I walked in a couple Saturdays ago. Three guys(teens to early 20s, I’d guess) were watching whatever sporting match on the overhead TV. I was neither greeted nor asked«Can I help you?» I spent 10 – 15 minutes browsing, digging through a pile or two of jeans seeking my size, looking at North Face ski jackets, etc. I was losing focus and feeling kinda overwhelmed. Typical for me. None of the guys came up to me, approached me, asked if I needed help, etc. I left the store, walking right past them as they continued watching TV. They didn’t say a word to me. With some help, I might’ve ended up buying a few hundred dollars worth of stuff.

Nice family owned business… the place to go for backpacks, north face products, gloves, sports wear, and trendy must have items… however the prices are not as cheap as some of the big box stores… definitely a place I go that is convenient and I feel good about supporting the local economy and small business owners… yeah of Mortons… I wish you another 100 years in business!

Where’s eddy? He waited on us for 30 years and picked out the most quality for the least amount of money, although I ended up walking out with $ 500.00 purchases. He was the best. I don’t buy EVERYTHING I see, but I trusted his judgment.
