The Stilt House has many positives. 1. Location– it’s nestled along the historic downtown district of Cedarburg. Everything’s within walking distance, making the restaurant easily accessible. 2. Fantastically friendly ownership and staff. They are truly committed to making you feel welcomed without being drippy-sweet or fake. Call it Genuine. 3. The food. What is a restaurant if not its food? The Stilt House has excellent burgers, apps, and a HUGE selection of beers and wines. Particularly delicious are their tuna tartare, house burger, and pomme frites. Recently opened is a lively outdoor space that seats many guests. So pick a nice night, arrive early, and enjoy an excellent meal!

We visited this place twice during our weekend trip to Cedarburg. Twice because the first experience was both delicious and customer focused. Our first order included Lobster Mac and Cheese, salads and a chicken sandwich with a couple rounds of beers from their huge selection of taps and bottles. Simply put, it was a great experience. That brought us back for lunch the next day. We were greeted at the door, seated immediately outside and treated by the staff with unmatched service. The food was great again — I’d recommend the pretzel, blackened Brussels Sprouts and Cauliflower and Mac and Cheese for a great afternoon snack for 5. A great combination with some fresh brews. Can’t wait to go back.

Beer selection was great, food was marginal at best. The quinoa salad had little to know quinoa in it. The brussel sprouts appetizers were pretty limp. The burger was pretty good. I had the«adult cheese sandwich» — a bun with some american cheese, tomato slices and a couple pieces of bacon. Not very adult IMHO. Service was very slow considering we came in for a late lunch — there was practically nobody else in there, no reason for our order to take forever. Positives: we were warmly greeted, seated promptly, waitress was attentive. Love the building — the tin ceilings are beautiful. Bottom line: come for the beer.

Loved that we could get in to eat without a reservation on a Saturday night for immediate seating. Wine list was good, thought it was odd that they don’t serve cocktails? Except for sangria which you have to ask for. We tried the tuna shaki shaki, the Brussel sprouts, and the lobster Mac(all shared). Tuna was phenomenal — would come back just for this. Lobster Mac had what seemed like a whole lobster tail! More lobster than Mac! Mac itself was ok, but worth the price given how much lobster we actually got. We ended with the brownie… Who wouldn’t wait 8 minutes for a freshly baked brownie!!! If you’ve ever been on a carnival cruise, I’d compare to the lava cake. All in all, food was very good and I’m a lover of tapas style because I like to try everything. Will be back

Absolutely love this place. Beer selection is wide and staff are knowledgeable. Can’t say enough about the number of beers on tap. Small plates are absolutely delicious.

Place was hoppin’ on a Saturday night but the manager Paul watched out for us from the minute we arrived to the moment he walked us out after a fantastic meal. Paul put us in place to secure seats at the bar while we waited. The bartender was nice enough to make white wine recommendations and let me try two generous pours before deciding. Two bottles later, I would say we were all very pleased with the wine! Once seated at our table, both the waitress and Paul helped us select delicious plates to share. The hard boiled egg, fried meatball, tacos, tuna tartare, and brussel sprouts taste amazing! Very generous portions for tapas style plates… Paul told us about the history of the building with pride and seemed to genuinely enjoy his work. We watched as he greeted and said goodbye to patrons as if they had walked into his own home. He wrapped up our incredible night by insisting on a pie of cake to share, accompanied by the taste of a beer that he suggested compliments to dessert. The man also held the door for us AND walked us out to the street. He also encouraged us to visit the local coffee shops in the morning before heading out of that charming little town. What more can I say. My mom, sisters and I were all genuinely impressed. Fantastic employees, hoppin’ environment, delicious food, great wine and beer. Thank you!

Cedarburg never ceases to amaze, there are lots of hidden jewels in this taken out of a movie town, we ended up visiting Stilt because it was to late to go to our favorite Cedarburg breakfast place just a couple of blocks south, PJ’s Piper. To our surprise this little place food, was amazing, I still dream about their Sweet Potato soup, the flavor was clean and crisp, you could taste the vegetable and that is all you needed, I love food that doesn’t need any«sparkles» to be liked. The difficult balance of perfection in simplicity is what you will find here, definitely one of our new«go to» places.

Very friendly greeting when we entered the very pretty establishment. We were seated right away, and greeted by our waitress promptly. I ordered the lobster Mac & cheese. It was delicious! No your everyday Mac and cheese with lobster in it, either! Our waitress kept our drinks coming(tea). I ordered the most expensive thing at $ 15.95. We visited the potty on the way out, and it was very clean. I would definitely eat here again!

This place has been on my list for at least a year, and I happened to be in town around dinner time, so I stopped in. The host opened the door for me as I was walking up the steps and gave me a warm greeting. I sat at the bar and was greeted by a very friendly bartender. I believe her name was Jessica. She had a very outgoing and fun personality, the kind of person I would want working for me if I owned a bar or restaurant. I reviewed the beer and drink list and found a lot of craft beer and a few solid imports, including a lot of Wisconsin craft beers, except none from Milwaukee. I passed on drinks and went to the food menu. I was told that all of the food items are small plate style. A display of the special for the night, Southern Fried Chicken sliders($ 12.95), sat on the corner of the bar when I walked in. It got my attention, so that marketing effort worked. After discussing options with Jessica, she recommended the sliders, which surprised me a bit considering I saw Lobster Roll and a shrimp gnocchi on the menu, but I trusted her and added a side of fresh cut fries($ 2.95). I struggle with the terms that restaurants use for fries. I prefer potatoes cut in house. Sometimes I see them referred to as «house cut» and sometimes I see them referred to as «fresh cut,» so I always. She said they were cut in house. When they arrived, I was immediately skeptical. They were cut thicker than I normally see house cut fries cut and they were very light in color, no brown spots anywhere on any of them. I typically only see that when frozen fries are cooked. They fries weren’t very crisp, but they were seasoned with salt and served in a metal cup, «cone style.» If they were cut in house, they were fried in the cleanest oil and only fried once. Some places will fry them a couple of times for extra crispness. The sliders were good. The chicken had sufficient seasoning in the breading and was tender and juicy with a crispy exterior. They were served on house made buttermilk biscuits, which I found to be a bit dense, but they held up fairly well when eating them, so maybe that is why they weren’t light and fluffy. I think they would have been filling enough without the side of fries, so I won’t bark at the $ 12.95 price. My meal was good and my service was excellent, so I would go back again and try other menu items and hope for the same amazing service I received on that visit.

Seriously adorable gastropub. It’s clearly popular with locals and it’s easy to see why with the great service and food. We walked up the front steps and were pleasantly surprised when a young man opened the door for us. We were seated by the same young man who ran through the specials for us. You know a kid is cute when your husband’s first comment is «he’s cute» as soon as said kid is out of earshot. I make a point of ordering scotch eggs whenever I see them on the menu. Their scotch eggs are my favorite so far. I didn’t like seeing the green ring around the yolk but that sin was quickly forgiven for the tasty, outer layer of meatloaf. The beet salad was a lovely mix of red and golden beets on top a bed of fresh greens. The adult grilled cheese was the clear winner. It isn’t a giant sandwich but it was delicious and super satisfying. The lobster mac and cheese was ok. Since we were in Wisconsin, my taste buds were expecting a magnificently cheddar cheesy melding of pasta and lobster. The cheese flavor was delicate and sweet-ish. It didn’t overpower the lobster which was probably the master plan but wasn’t working for me that day. Their beer and cider selection is good. I ordered the cherry cider and was thrown off when it came with ice. It worked since it was a very sweet cider but the pear cider I ordered later did not need to be on the rocks. I’d recommend asking your server to not put any other cider on ice. I’d come back to Cedarburg just to eat here again!

We came here with a larger group after reading such positive reviews. I was very tempted to order the lobster mac and cheese but I ordered a chicken sandwich instead. I am very happy I didn’t order the lobster mac and cheese as my chicken sandwhich was amazing. Most everyone else at the table really enjoyed the quality of their food. Except the one person who ordered the lobster mac and cheese. I was offered a taste and I came close to spitting it out. The lobster had taken on a fishy taste, which I have never seen lobster do before. My 4 stars do not include how terrible this mac and cheese was, as I did not order it. I do not know why it wasn’t sent back, but they didn’t want to make a fuss so they were stuck with their $ 16 entrée. Our server was amazing and I would stop here again.

This is my second time here and I’m pretty sure they’ve improved. We had a party of 6 and although it was super busy this night, the wait was only 30 minutes. I was also surprised at how quickly the food and drinks were served despite their busyness. And WOW the food was absolutely amazing. Every person enjoyed their dinners. We had goat cheese mushrooms, arugula salads, fish fries and flatbreads. Each item was freshly made and delicious. They do have gluten free options too! This place has definitely taken first place among Cedarburg restaurants for me.

Such a hidden little gem up in Cedarburg! Lots of beer on tap, and the owners are great about making sure updated draft lists are handed out when necessary.(They could probably benefit from a virtual beer list that updates itself, but those are pricey for a small town place such as this.) Also a plus, they let you sample/taste as many beers on tap as you want until you decide on one, which is key when you are as indecisive as I am when it comes to beer. The food here is shockingly gourmet for a pub setting! The lobster BLT(with a fried egg, cuz well, why not add gooey egg yolk to the buttery lobster?! Mmm…) is decadent, but served open faced with just one slice of bread so it’s not you’re typical heavy pub food. Fries do not come with sandwiches, so make sure you order a side if you want a heartier meal.

Found our way into Stilt House this past weekend before heading out for some dreary-Fall-day-apple-picking-adventures. Starved upon arrival, we were seated immediately and greeted shortly thereafter by our waitress. She concisely explained the tapas nature of SH, recommended how much food to order based on it being just us two, reviewed specials, etc. For a Saturday afternoon the place was busy, but not overwhelmingly packed. Filled with groups of friends/family catching a bite during an afternoon of shopping around Cedarburg(SH has a great central location for that!). There were small groups and a few larger as well — SH seemed to house them all just fine. The atmosphere was cozy, but not cramped. While my boyfriend jumped into the extensive beer menu, I devoured our order of Breaded Goat Cheese. Delicious. Could’ve easily gotten a second order. For our main meal: — Duck Confit burger — any burger with an egg on it is perfect, add a pretzel roll and you’re set, duck confit just adds that little bit of something extra on top of several already good components to make this worth trying for any burger fan — Chicken Tikka Masala Pasta — I knew I was signing up for a bit of spice with this one, and this pasta definitely delivered a bit of a kick. I’m a complete baby when it comes to spice and it was almost too much for me, but it was so delicious that I kept scarfing it down anyways. Ended up taking some home for leftovers, adding a tiny bit of milk, and it cut it down to just my level. Delicious. Highly recommend it. Would definitely visit Stilt House again. Seems like it’d be a fun place just to come and grab a drink as well — it’s on the list for my next trip up to Cedarburg for sure! ((On a weird sidenote, I loved their bowls and serving-ware!))

I’m almost leaning towards 3 stars with Stilt House, but my only downside was the service. I’ll get back to that. This restaurant is located right off Main Street in Cedarberg. Excellent location. We parked about half a mile away so that we could enjoy a short walk before our meal. I love the inside of this place. It can be a little narrow at times, but it’s a pretty busy gastropub, you can’t expect to have a TON of room to yourself. Once you’re seated you don’t feel too cramped. I tasted 2 flights of 4 beers each for a total of $ 20, which I feel is a great price. Among those beers were: 1) Kellerweiss — Absolutely excellent. Full body wheat ale, no bitterness, super refreshing. 2) Bacon(Ale I think?) — Remarkably smokey. I didn’t get much of the bacon flavor, but the way this beer makes you feel after you drink it is something special. While it’s on your palate, it feels similar to a Guiness Draught, but right after you swallow you get this smokey splash back. It’s really something else. 3) Atom Smasher — Similar to the Kellerweiss, with a little extra hops. Sharper flavor without being bitter. Very nice. 4) Chocolate Weiss — Decent beer, didn’t get any of the chocolate flavor unfortunately. 5) Raspberry Tart — As expected, very sweet, perfect amount of tart. Didn’t really mix well with anything else, but on it’s own it is pretty delicious if not a little heavy. I’m forgetting a couple of the Belgium pale ales that I tried, but to sum up. every beer was very good. The food was all excellent. 1) Duck Confit Sliders on pretzel bread — Bread was perfectly soft with a hit of salt, the duck was not over seasoned and juicy, the balsamic cherry mayo added this light zang. Really really good. 2) Grilled Teriyaki Salmon — I love a good Salmon, and I’ve never before had a Teriyaki Salmon. The Salmon was cooked perfectly, and the Teriyaki glaze was light enough to not overwhelm the fish, while still providing a nice full flavor. Extremely well done. 3) Roasted Red Pear and Feta Flatbread — Holy crap man. This was perfect. I can’t wait to go back and order again. The bread has this light honey glaze which paired with the feta flawlessly. The pear rounded this off into a really nice light appetizer. Dessert 1) Giant cookie — Honestly, not a fan but my fiancée loved it. it’s just too big to cook the way that I enjoy cookies. 2) Barrel House Bourbon Cake — I was expecting a denser cake, but this one is shockingly light. So if you order this cake expecting it to be light, you’ll enjoy it more than I did. It was just fine, I would have preferred a densely creamier cake. The only thing bouncing me between 3 and 4 stars was the service. Our waitress was nice, but very very slow. We waited a good ten minutes, after being very obviously finished, for her to come back with our check. That was literally the ONLY issue. I highly recommend this place to anybody.

I was walking by the Stilt House when I was captivated by the enticing aroma bellowing forth from it’s doors. I wasn’t terribly hungry at the time, but I grabbed a to-go menu that was conveniently left in a case outside(more businesses should do this) to look at later on. When I finally sat down and was able to take a look at their menu, I knew this had the potential to be something good. A solid foundation for a blossoming food-borne romance was in the works. I’m notorious for having wildly different cravings all within a 5 minute span, and the menu was varied enough at Stilt House to accommodate most of my favorite go-tos. I’m a huge tuna fan, and their tuna poke was spot-on. The only downside was the bread that it came with was… Styrofoam-ish, and we pretty much ignored it. With some regular bread or cracker, this would have been flawless. Even so, it can’t detract from GOOD it was. The service was fast and friendly, we forgot to order our salad without cheese(allergy), and the server was very fast and accommodating with the adjustment, even though it was after the food had come out. The seats can be a little claustrophobic when it’s busy, however, prices are good for the serving size and quality of food. I don’t get to Cedarburg often, but I could definitely see this becoming a spot I visit when I’m nearby!

Although I don’t drink beer, my friend who I was traveling with loves beer, so I decided to take him to try out the Stilt House for some beer and a little dinner! We were seated right away, everyone working there was really nice and seemed to be happy which has a positive influence. There weren’t too many people when we went at about 5 on a Friday, which was nice, I’m sure it gets busy at night! They had a very extensive selection for drinks. I considered getting a sangria but decided against it, my friend got two beers and loved them both. He was happy to see all of the different beers they had. Everything there is a la carte which I’m not really A fan of, but we got an appetizer so neither of us left hungry or disappointed! First we ordered a pretzel that came with cheese fondue and mustard. The pretzel had a ton of salt on it, but we were both pleased with it. The cheese fondue was a tad spicy which wasn’t expected, the mustard was tasty! For my friends main meal he ordered a shredded BBQ sandwich, I don’t remember what kind of meat was on it. But it was just meat and bread. He thought there was too much bbq sauce on it, but thought it wasn’t too bad. I got a caprese flatbread and I really enjoyed it. The bread was delicious, and I especially loved the cheese it was topped with, you could tell the ingredients were super fresh. Would stop here again!

We went here during strawberry fest. So, likely the food will be even better during non-crazy times. We had a couple beers — they have 30 on tap. The inside is fun, somewhat up north modern. Service was prompt, and warm. The tortilla soup was really good. Homemade. The lobster roll was missing flavor — something. The kids had the chicken tenders and seemed to like them. But, you really can’t mess them up. They have a nice patio off the street.
