For being in Cedar Rapids, this sushi place is pretty good and inexpensive. B. c roll and caterpillar rolls were very tasty. I like that in both the buffet and regular menu, the rice on the sushi doesn’t vary. The lunch buffet is a good price, especially for what you get. The waiters are extremely friendly and attentive. Good food, good service, the only downside is a pretty limited menu. Not many rolls or sashimi options like the other sushi places.

I’m convinced that there are no decent sushi restaurants in eastern Iowa. I’m from the west coast, so I guess my expectations are higher? This place does offer all you can eat, which is awesome, and its the only reason I gave 2 stars. However, the rolls were little to be desired. The spicy tuna was flavorless, the ratios were off, and the avocado in every roll was mush, beyond its firm peak of ripeness which ruined the flavor. All the rolls were pretty much the same with no real variation. The sushi itself was mediocre at best. The amount of rice was double to the amount of fish, and they lacked variety. I’d recommend sending your chefs to either coast to learn better technique and better recipes. Needless to say it was a dinner not worth $ 65.

Really nice atmosphere. Server was very friendly. We came in for the $ 15.99 lunch buffet but weren’t feeling that hungry so we just ordered off the menu. Got two orders of sushi for about $ 13 which is a great deal. They tasted great and were cheaper than some other sushi restaurants. The buffet is definitely worth it if you are going to eat at least 3 orders of sushi. Overall really nice place and a great lunch buffet.

Going for lunch is by far the best deal. You pay $ 16.99 for all you can eat appetizers, sushi, and entrees. This included: spring rolls, dumplings, temaki(sushi hand rolls), specialty sushi rolls, regular sushi rolls, teriyaki(chicken, beef, pork), fried rice(with any meat), ramen noodles, salads, soups, ice cream cups, and much much more! Our waitress was great, the food came out fast for a group of 6 people, and the food wasn’t bad. Favorites Appetizers: Spring Rolls and Dumplings Favorite Rolls: Dynamite, Sexy Girl, and Dragon Favorite Dishes: Chicken Teriyaki, Beef Teriyaki, Fried Rice, Ramen Noodles Ice cream comes in small Styrofoam cups: Strawberry, Chocolate, Vanilla

Do not waste your time or money with this garbage hole. All you can eat sushi in a land locked Midwest town. Plus they scare you with an up charge if don’t finish your food. Made myself almost vomit because of this bogus scare tactic. Dubious. Weird ambiance. No bueno. Will never ever go back.

All you can eat sushi that is made upon ordering for $ 24.99. You can order appetizers, soups, salads, sashimi, rolls, temaki(hand roll), tempura, teriyaki, etc. Make sure to be hungry before visiting! Atmosphere: Very nice, clean and a cool looking bar. Seating was easily available on a saturday night. Food: –I wouldn’t say it was«outstanding» but the food was decent. I felt like the rolls and temaki(hand roll) were not as flavorful as I’d like. –The best dishes were the seaweed salad(fresh with lots of flavor) and the beef sirloin teppanyaki(soft/tender). –The spicy tuna was not as chunky as I’m used to(has more of a minced quality) and not quite spicy. Volcano roll and dynamite roll were also not noticeably spicy. –The portions for the chicken and salmon teriyaki were very tiny, though I guess it makes some sense because it’s all you can eat. –I didn’t understand the tamago(egg) and crab meat(imitation crab) «sashimi». If you order these, I recommend to just get them as sushi. Service: Very nice staff. The food takes a while to come out. We were there for about +2 hours, mostly waiting, so try to go when not in a huge rush. We did about 3 rounds of ordering. Overall, the food wasn’t amazing, but I think you can definitely get your moneys worth coming here.

I’m telling all my friends because this concept has GOT to survive! Love it!!! Tailoring my own meal is an absolute delight! I love the all-you-can eat without the«buffet-been-sitting-in-the-fridge-or-under-a-lamp» concept. There are salads, appys, even dessert(ice cream), all part of the buffet price. The fish is the best in this city for sushi — no «fishy» smell or after-taste. The pricing for children is reasonable($ 1/year). Even the pricing for adults is very reasonable given the amount of sushi one can eat. The specialty rolls are fabulous — love the Rainbow Roll, which is what I judge all sushi places on. Dinner is more expensive than lunch but there are more things on the menu you cannot get a lunch(e.g., seaweed salad — which is to die for!). I know this review seems to have a lot of ! but it is for good reason. Check out its page on FB, too, because the reviews there don’t lie either! The timing in between can seem slow, but if you’ve even eaten at a sushi restaurant, you know what to expect. Because of the all-you-can-eat concept, just stay ahead of the pace and order before you are done with your sushi in front of you. Also, the restaurant has nice décor(held over from when it was an Italian restaurant), which is a nice surprise. I’ve been to some dumpy-looking all-you-can sushi places — this is not that!

Yes service is slow, but the food is good. I agree that they should have more than two people rolling fresh sushi, but hope in the future that they may find a way to accommodate more patrons, sense they were slated when I decided to dine in. My server was on top of things and very attentive despite the wait for the sushi rolls.

When I heard we were getting an all you can eat sushi restaurant I was so excited that words couldn’t express how thrilled I was to have this in downtown Cedar Rapids, and a place so close to work I could walk to. All you can eat sushi places are the best, especially if you have a place you can depend on to be rock solid every time you go. I will say, however, that they have just a bit more room for improvement to get more stars from me. The last 2 trips I have gone almost every piece of sushi, whether it was the nigiri or rolls, every time I picked them up with chop sticks just fell apart and made a mess either on my plate or in my lap. The other thing is that I would not recommend going early right when they open, because their nigiri(tuna and sake is what I usually order) the meat is warm and has this ‘pepperminty’/menthol after taste to it. Not very pleasant. I still recommend you go and check them out because it is worth it. I have tried many items on their all you can eat menu and everything for the most part is tasty. Perhaps getting some better green tea choices instead of super generic ones would be a big plus too.

If you eat a lot of sushi this place is for you! I myself can eat way more sushi than I can afford and that’s where wasabi comes in. The all you can eat option is really a great value. You simply pay $ 24.99 and you are able to order anything you want from a three page menu including sushi rolls, maki specialty rolls, curry chicken or beef, vegetable & seafood tempura, soups & salads, and ice cream. Eat as much as you want and the price stays the same. The ambiance is also very pleasing. Great for date night or just a casual sushi stop. Service has never let me down and wait times have been reasonable the few times I have been there. I say give this place a try! It may not be your favorite sushi place but you won’t leave unhappy with the food.

Food was good. When we eventually got it. If you’re going to put in an all you can eat sushi you better have more than two guys rolling. Terrible service.

Good average sushi but sooooooo slooooooow. We went there at lunch time and spent 2 hrs there waiting for our food to arrive to drip feed us. The fried stuff comes out of the kitchen a bit faster than the sushi. You can certainly fill yer boots with sushi. It just might take a while. I had previously rated this restaurant 3 stars because of the long wait time for dishes to arrive. The food itself was in fact not too bad at all. Bathrooms where clean, wait staff where polite, but clearly understaffed. I know this is a new restaurant and I really want it to succeed, so if you do try it, just bear in mind this is not a fast food restaurant.

Food and concept are great! If you have 2 hours to eat your in good shape. Horrible as a business lunch as the service and turn around is slow. This is the second time in 4 I was seated and after 15 minutes of not being waited on got up and left.

My boyfriend and I love sushi, so we were really excited when Wasabi opened up near our apartment in Downtown Cedar Rapids. When we first tried Wasabi, we both opted to get the buffet, and while it was not quite what we expected, we had a great experience there. Basically, when you tell your waiter/waitress that you want to order all-you-can-eat, he or she will give you a menu and you can order whatever you want, in whatever quantity, and he or she will serve it you. Because of that, the word«buffet» is a misnomer in this case, but you get the idea. Besides the crappy pop music that played throughout our dining experience, the ambiance at Wasabi is quite nice. The bar is beautiful and the restaurant area is classy and comfortable. Our waitress was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Moreover(and perhaps most importantly), the food was great. We sure ordered a lot(the all-you-can-eat option is pricey, so we came hungry to get our money’s worth) and everything we tried was de-licious! It was definitely the best sushi I’ve had in Cedar Rapids(admittedly, there’s not a lot of competition on that front, but it’s worth noting!). My only complaint(besides the awful music) is the price; the all-you-can-eat option paired with a couple of rounds of cocktails made for an expensive night! But, if you want to splurge a little bit and put your diet on hold for an evening, this place is really good.

We decided to skip the all you can eat menu and ordered single rolls instead. We ordered King Crab, Rainbow and Spicy Tuna. The King Crab was my favorite. The staff was very friendly, efficient and our food was great. I would not claim this to be the best sushi I have ever eaten, but it was still good.

Our family loves sushi and tempura vegetables. If you love sushi too, you must try Wasabi, a new restaurant in downtown in Cedar Rapids. It’s a very unique dining experience. It is a little pricy, but we had a coupon which helped. You order whatever you want off the menu until you are full and it is prepared fresh and brought to the table. They call it a buffet, however, there is not really a buffet line so everything is fresh and delicious. We recommend the Crazy Roll, Boston Roll, Philadelphia Roll and the Snow Mountain Roll. Being able to order whatever you want and share with your dining guests is a fun way to be a little adventuresome and try something new! The manager, Sarah, is awesome and everyone else working there made us feel welcome too. It might just be our new special occasion restaurant!

This place is delicious! The atmosphere is beautiful and the service is kind and fast. They have«all you can eat sushi» and hibachi. The Sushi is great quality, which is not something I would expect from an all you can eat sort of deal. You can also order single rolls, soups, appetizers and a few other things outside of the buffet. It’s a great new sushi restaurant and I hope it does well!
