Mediocre at best. Larger than motel 6 with facility like double tree but the service fell far from double tree. Breakfast has both hot and cold items but the area hasn’t kept clean. Need staff training to create customer satisfaction. Plain and boring.

This hotel was clean and adequate, but the service was only average. My family stayed for three nights, and on two occasions, there were no towels available at the pool. The free wi-fi was frustrating because the network would drop the connection if your device went to sleep, and you had to re-enter the access code. Additionally, I felt that the waffles at the free breakfast were good, but the eggs and other breakfast meats were not appetizing. However, the rooms were clean, spacious, and it was convenient to have a refrigerator and microwave.

This is slightly overdue review. Nevertheless, I had a great experience at the Hawthorn Suites so it’s definitely worth Unilocaling about. Upon arrival the staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. After two flights coming from Knoxville, I was tired and ready to hit my bed and relax. I was promptly checked in, asked if I was in need of anything, and shown to my room. Since it was mid afternoon and I knew the dinner hour would soon be approaching, I asked the concierge where the best place to eat was. I knew Cedar Rapids had some restaurants worth checking out(thanks Unilocalers!), but I always like to hear recommendations from those who live in the area. I had to giggle to myself when he recommended the Olive Garden and TGI Friday’s. I felt like a total food snob. So, I politely thanked him and made my way to my room. The room itself was quite spacious, the bed was very comfortable, and everything was extremely clean. The hotel also offers a complimentary breakfast in the morning. Nothing exciting — continental style with the added bonus of a waffle maker. It was great for grabbing something on the go. The hotel also had a pool and small workout room(which I shockingly used). Again — everything was in great shape and very clean. Although I would only travel to Cedar Rapids for work(and for those of you thinking it, it’s nothing like the movie«Cedar Rapids») I would definitely stay at the Hawthorn Suites. It’s clean, the staff is friendly and there’s an Olive Garden nearby. ;)

We got a good deal for this hotel on . It’s an extended stay type hotel so the rooms are a little bigger and come with a kitchenette. Our room only had a microwave, small fridge, and a kitchen sink but another person in our group had a room that had a full fridge, stovetop, the works basically. The beds were very comfy and each room sports a big screen TV and the hotel has free wireless internet. The continental breakfast was very good with a spread that included scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and biscuits and gravy among other things. My only beefs with this place are minor but they did kind of drag it down a little. First, a very minor one. The only elevator in this place is horrible. My pregnant wife and myself ended up using the stairs to go up to our 4th floor room unless we were carrying our luggage because the elevator takes literally minutes to move. You will actually stand there and wait 1 – 2 minutes after you push the call button, and the place only has four floors. Secondly, the pool was pretty blah. The pool room was more like a dungeon and at the time the hot tub was out of order as well. Overall, it’s a nice, clean place with just a couple of imperfections. I would stay there again if we ever need a hotel in Cedar Rapids again.

This is a nice, pretty clean hotel. You get a full breakfast every morning and there is a good selection to choose from. Monday-Thursday evenings, you get dinner. This includes, pepsi products, red and white wine, and light beer. There is a swimming pool, jacuzzi, and laundry facilities. The neighborhood is ok, next to an auto dealership. There are several fast food and family style restaurants within a mile. I’d recommend it to anyone.
