Terrible experience.. .staff was borderline hostile in their service. It was busy but that doesn’t make it acceptable.

Great Downtown Bar and Grill! The classic burger is done on a flat top grill made to order with a nice grilled crunch on the the outside the way a burger should be. Great tasting beef as well! Best burger I’ve had in a long time! Service was great and staff very friendly! A definite must stop when in Cedar Rapids… Also a great on tap beer selection!

Stopped here while passing through Iowa — a gret find! Brick’s is on a stretch of 2nd Avenue which features several pubs/bars/brewhouses, and we picked it randomly. It was 8 pm on a Tuesday — not much of a crowd at all. No minors are allowed after 9 pm, and at 8 pm everyone seemed of age except a teen with parents. There was a large group that looked to be straight from the office, a couple couples, and some hockey fans watching playoff games on the big screens. I wouldn’t bring little kids here at any hour, out of respect for the adults who want an adult atmosphere. Music was hip-hop and pop, but that may have been patrons’ choices on the jukebox. The beer selection is exceptional: over 60 choices, many of them local. The Arms Race Pale Ale by Big Grove Brewery was perfect. Food was more than adequate, not exceptional: generous portions of fries with big burgers and sandwiches. Not a lot of light choices, which is not surprising in a bar/grill atmosphere. Staff was attentive, patient and helpful. Prices for beer and food were completely in line with expectations. Sodas were $ 2.50, which seemed a bit high to me, but I guess they’ve got to make some money off the non-drinkers. I’d recommend Brick’s to anyone visiting Cedar Rapids. Next time I’ll check out other places on the street too — it’s a cool neighborhood.

3 stars only because I’ve only been here once. The food was good, and service was good. I will defiantly be back and will adjust rating accordingly. I would say, this is worth a try if you are on the fence.

Went there before a concert at the Paramount, a few blocks away. Started with the smoked wings as an appetizer, highly recommended. The Chicken Sandwich was also quite tasty. With a highly attentive wait staff, I’d definitely return when in the area.

Very good fries and a great basic burger. I’ll be back for the wings and nachos.

My favorite bar in Cedar Rapids! The beer selection is great — they have over 48 taps! Service isn’t always the quickest, as the bar is often packed on the weekends. All in all a great bar though!

Brick’s has a great beer selection(they boast 60 beers on tap), and the food is terrific. I had a buffalo chicken wrap, and the smoked chicken was delicious and added a really nice touch to an old classic. However, I think the fries were the highlight for me — you could tell the potatoes were cut fresh and fried to perfection in tasty oil. If you like good beer and good bar food, you’ll like Brick’s.

Smoked wings are amazing and so is their brisket sandwich. Bartenders are great and friendly and beer selection is off the charts good.

Absolutely fantastic. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, there’s a LOT of drinks on tap and I’ve never seen them strike out recommending a drink to someone who isn’t sure what they want. I ordered the burnt ends, which is the juiciest and most flavorful part of a brisket baked, seasoned, and mixed with barbecue sauce. I’m glad I was eating alone because the sounds I made while eating it were pretty embarrassing. Fantastic.

Great tap selection, good vibe, cozy bar in old brick building. Menu is mostly burgers and sandwiches which is a challenge for those who are carb averse, but I found the«one pound brick» without the bun to be a nice combo of brisket and sausage. No, that is selling it short, it is a delicious pile of brisket, sausage and bacon with molten cheese on top. Absolutely no nun needed, this should be their signature dish! If I get back to Cedar, I’ll be back!(And monster side salad!)

We stopped here on our way to Minneapolis. It was exactly the kind of place that was needed. With smoked BBQ all over the menu and 60 beers on tap behind the bar, there’s something for the true American in you. Brick’s definitely would be a great place to watch a game and catch up with buddies. One of the few spots that seemed to be open on a Saturday afternoon downtown and I couldn’t be happier that we stopped in.

Tonight Rod Stewart is in town… with that said, they should have had plenty of staff in for tonight. Sit in the 2nd floor, it’s HOT!!! We waited ATLEAST15 mins for our drink order. After another 15 minutes our waitress came back with only one of our drink orders and told us they were all out of Furious. After another 15 the rest of our drink order finally came. Another 15 minutes later we got our food order WHICHWASWRONG. 10 minutes later, we got our correct order which we ordered with baked beans to share. The waitress didn’t provide silverware or napkins but said she’d be right back. NEVER received silverware. Everyone was waiting for food & drinks, people are getting up helping themselves at the food window and napkins. Ridiculous! Never asked if we wanted more drinks or even water. The food was okay, had The Big Brick it was luke warm at best. The meat was good and would have been better if it were hot. We wanted a local bar and and just seems this place isn’t staffed for busy/large crowds, disappointed. Awful, awful service. Walked into the place at 5, still here waiting for things at 6:35.(We did get spoons with our bill to eat our cold beans)

Bricks overcharged my credit card, inflating their tip. After 6 weeks of calls trying to reach a manager, and leaving 4 messages) I finally reached a manager who explained«they lost the slip and so normally charge 20% tip.» This practice is ILLEGAL. If you have a sign up that says you’ll charge a tip if I forget to close my tab, fine. But you ran my card, and I left a cash tip. You’re stealing, Bricks. This manager agreed to cover my whole tab for my troubles(only 2 drinks) via a check in the mail refund. I got a check, surprisingly, for an amount way less than agreed upon, made out to an intentionally vulgar misspelling of my name. Like grade school childish(which is probably when this guy dropped out of school). Keep your couple bucks. VISA will cover my end after the fraud report.

It’s just a combo of it all! All the beer on tap(60 in all)! The food is simple, but great for downtown with the smoked foods. Then the over all key to their success, The STAFF! They are wonderful and fun. Talking to Adam about beer is like talking to a college professor. This place use to known as a crazy place with a bad rep. Since the new owners took over, and with this staff in place, it is a hang out for all walks of life.

*satisfied grunt* Best place in town for all your food and drink needs. Service is second to none. Menu of smoked meats paired with craft brew is infinite. Moody, flexible, delightful, Bricks is a place everyone can be comfortable.

Great lunch crowd here today. I tried the smoked baked beans. They were so sweet, smokey and a tiniest bit of spicy. If you stop in give the bake beans a try. I also ordered the Pacific chicken sandwich. At Brick’s, they know what they are doing in the kitchen. As far as service, they were good too. I never wanted for anything and my glass stayed full. It’s still my favorite restaurant in Cedar Rapids.
