Kona Ice

The Austin Kona Ice Team was by far the best addition that we have made to the Austin Jr Golf Academy in several years. They were able to accommodate our needs and serve over 350 snow cones in under 30 minutes. Justin also had to quickly mobilize on the second week of our academy and showed up an hour and a half earlier than schedule because we were getting rained out. Rain keeps the golfers away but there was no way we were cancelling snow cone day. Thanks so much Kona Ice Austin!

I was so thoroughly pleased with Kona Ice’s service for my summer 2012 wedding at the Salt Lick Pavilion that I made a mental note to post reviews about my great experience as soon as I was back from honeymoon. Well, life intervened and I didn’t get it done, but hopefully it’s still better late than never! We hired Kona on a last minute whim to use a wedding budget surplus. They offered a very reasonable price, lower than other vendors we looked into who would have just set up a snow cone machine in the reception area, and were available on less than two weeks’ notice. They were a pleasure to work with, and we had the whole thing arranged with just a few emails back-​and-​forth (we planned the wedding from out-​of-​state). They offered a flexible pricing scheme – a flat rate for up to X number of snow cones (I forget how many now!), then a (reasonable) per-​snow-​cone rate if our guests wound up wanting more than we guessed – so we didn’t have to worry they’d run out. They promptly provided all the necessary documentation on insurance and permitting as required by the venue. They showed up when promised, served our 230 guests efficiently and with a big smile, and make a darned tasty snow cone. Everyone, of all ages and dispositions, absolutely loved it – it was a highlight of the reception and something guests still mention to us years later. Plus it made for great photos of the bride and groom (and lots of cute kiddos) ordering snow cones at the Kone Ice truck’s window. Finally, when our wedding coordinator forgot to take the check out to the truck in the bustle at the end of the reception, they didn’t hassle us – they just followed up by email the next day and were kind enough to take a check in the mail. We worked very hands-​on with tons of vendors in planning every last detail of our wedding, and Kona Ice was by far the simplest of our many transactions and one of the best bang-​for-​our-​buck choices of the whole wedding extravaganza. I only wish I still lived in the Austin area so we could hire them for our anniversary BBQ every year!

Kona Ice is a wonderful business that will hold a special place in my heart. Currently, we have a friend who is a resident at the Christopher House which is part of Hospice Austin. Today was her birthday. Since she is unable to eat solid food we called Kona Ice and asked them what it would cost us to have them come to Christopher House for her birthday. They said that they would like to come and provide Sno Cones to all of the residents, their families and staff at Christopher House at no cost. I cannot tell you how special this was for our friend Toni. During such a sad time Kona Ice was able to put a smile on her face and the faces of the family and friends of the other residents at Hospice. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The young man that came had a wonderful attitude and was thanking us for allowing him to be a part of our Toni’s day. The sno cones were wonderful as usual but the hearts behind this business are even more wonderful.

We adore Kona Ice! We have them out to our office at least once or twice per summer to treat our employees and they are always super helpful and friendly. During the hot Texas summers there is no better way to cool down than with a snow cone!

We love Kona Ice!
Kona Ice is a shaved ice trailer company that you can rent out for events. We have been lucky enough to enjoy Kona ice at our elementary school (Forest Creek Elementary). Every once in a while the PTA will setup for them to be there after school (about once a month– usually the first week of the month sometime). Kona Ice is more than just another shaved ice truck. Not only are the outsides of the trucks full of color and fun pictures but they also play music. It’s like one big party. The prices are great too.
You can get a small Kiddie size for only $ 2 a regular for $ 3 one a little bigger than a regular for $ 4 –also includes a Lei necklace and one for $ 5 — their Big one that includes a collectible cup.
You can choose from a list of different flavors or you can just get a plain shaved ice and add your own flavor from the side of the truck (located at kid reach height) — they have about 10 different flavors to choose from or you can combine them all together like my daughter did today and put as much or as little flavoring on as you want.
Kona Ice is definitely a fun shaved ice experience!

We had Kona Ice out for my son’s birthday a few months ago. What a hit! As soon as the Kona truck pulled onto the street all the kids went nuts. The young lady that was making the snow cones was super patient and kind to all the kids. She gave my son a little special treatment because he was the birthday boy. It was the best money I could have spent. My son still talks about it every time we see a Kona truck… which is often. Well done Kona.

Kona Ice is a mobile Snow Cone Truck that you can rent for an event or if you are lucky he will just show up at an event. For the past couple years he has been in the parking lot of the Steiner Ranch neighborhood where my nieces play soccer. There are no other concessions there so he is very popular with a long line. But me no likey his Ice — too crunchy (I like soft shaved ice on my cone thank you) But, he has other cold yummies like Blue Bell ice cream sandwiches and rainbow sherbet push ups.
So, Kona Ice is nowhere near the best snow cone in Austin but definitely an Oasis in a parking lot on a hot day!

This business saved me while I was planning an employee appreciation day for the company I work for. They go to your business or party in a van there is no set ups except a space to park. I didn’t hear any complaints from the staff. The server was friendly and the music from the truck was something to take our minds off of the fact that we were still technically at work. The snow cones were awesome, and a good selection of flavors, if we could have made them adult we would have, but we were at work. I am definitely keeping their number for our next event, work or elsewhere.
