I must have driven through on a bad night. I was really hungry and wanted to try this place, as I have had decent Bush’s elsewhere. This night, not so much. Chicken was undercooked, at least the batter was. It was chalky, gooey and overpowered the actual chicken meat. It is not often that I am starving and will not eat what is in front of me, but I got half way through this meal and tossed it, and I NEVER toss food. I drove up 620 to Wendy’s and ordered there instead! Upside: Was going to give 1 Star but gave 2 Stars for the young staff working there that night. They were friendly, fast and well trained. Well, maybe except for the cooking part. Otherwise, service was very good.

Great food at great prices. Make sure your fries are hot. Their tea is great too! If you do not like it super sweet, be sure to get ½ and ½. They have great happy hour specials on tea and certain food items. Also have a great family pack that is super cheap. Beats KFC for sure!

We are big fans of Bush’s Chicken and like to treat ourselves every so often. However, there have been a few times as of lately that our orders placed via the car hop were not correct and unfortunately, we do not realize it until we arrive home. For example, ordered mashed potatoes and received French fries instead. We plan to return to this location, but will keep a closer eye on the contents of our order.

Usually I don’t care for fast food chicken, but this establishment might have just changed my mind! As I walked into the restaurant I was greeted by multiple employees with big grins on their faces. The cashier directed me in the right way to help me place my order, she didn’t try to over sell me which was a nice change of pace! We proceeded to eat and boy it was satisfying, tender chicken and some of the creamiest potatoes I have ever had. When we were done eating an employee proceeded to take our trash and throw it out for us, then as we said our good byes and departed we got a farewell from the employees as they invited us back. My family and myself would recommend this establishment to anyone, worth every penny.

The chicken tenders were great and service was excellent. The rolls/biscuits were a little better than elementary school’s but other than that everything else was pretty good.

I’m a huge fan of fried chicken first off so when I heard so many great things about this place so I definitely wanted to try it out. When I went through the drive thru area, it was more of a car hop service, which I expect was because of the rush. I got ordered my food(the 2pc combo with mashed potatoes and an unsweet tea) and got it insanely fast. I applaud that kind of fast service. However, the reason this isn’t a 4 or 5 star moment was that the mashed potatoes were really bland as well as the chicken. It was still good, better than Church’s or KFC but for a place that I’ve been hyped up on, it was less than I expected. It was still relatively cheap and I definitely want to go back to try the other sides and the tenders. Service:5 stars Chicken:3 stars Mashed Potatoes: 3 Stars Price: 5 stars

Just walked in 8pm today to place an order to go and a another a male employee was making over the top inappropriate gestures to the female cashier such as trying to tickler her as I was trying to order. She told him stop as I was trying to make my order. Honestly don’t know if she liked the attention but as a customer definitely made me feel uncomfortable. I hope this isn’t acceptable by management.

The people that work here are the fastest and most attentive any where. There’s always a warm greeting. I am a habitué’ of this store and if they see me coming in they will have part of my order ready, Monster sweet tea, mmmm. The french fried sweet potatoes and stuffed jalapenos, mmmmmm. The chicken tenders with hot sauce are my favorite. Not far behind is the salad w/tenders. You’ll love this place if you love fried chicken. Terry B.

I’m not big on fast food, but I do love fried chicken every once in a while. When I’m craving chicken strips, I come here. The service is always so fast! And the kids who work here are always so nice.(I’m sure it’s beaten into their heads to greet everyone, but it doesn’t go unnoticed — it’s nice to be acknowledged.) I generally get the 4 chicken strip meal with either fries or mashed potatoes, and it comes with white gravy, a roll, and a drink.(I’m one of those weirdos who doesn’t like sweet tea, which is almost grounds for death-by-execution here in the south. I order unsweet tea. *gasp*) The chicken is always crispy and juicy. The gravy is pretty bland. The roll is light, buttery and delicious, and the fries are crispy, too. There’s always plenty of employees behind the counter, the dining room is kept clean, and everyone’s nice. Good job, Bush’s!

It’s my go to chicken place since they came to my neighborhood. I love the tender rolls. The kids love the ice tea and chicken. I have not eaten inside yet as I have only used the drive thru. But I have loved Bush’s since they began in Waco. Tenders are delish and I so love their rolls. I think I mentioned that before but its work re-mentioning. When I visit a chain that is so far from the original, I always question if it will taste the same. This one does. I love it!

Good service but chicken was almost to salty to eat. Tea and green beans were good. I am not a fan of the Mac n cheese. It had no flavor. I will try the tenders next time but the regular fried chicken needs help. Maybe third time is charm?

Bush’s Chicken has always been a favorite of mine in the time I’ve lived in Austin. I’m a bit of a «if it’s not broke, don’t fix it» person, so their chicken strip meals are my go to, and you can’t go wrong with them. I’ve yet to eat there where the food wasn’t hot, the chicken tasted and crunched like it was freshly made, and the service wasn’t exceptionally friendly.

I’m not afraid to admit that my go to for lunch has become Bush’s chicken tenders. I always order the tenders with mashed potatoes and gravy. One of these days I’ll get around to trying out the rest of the menu. The food always comes out quick and crisp. Never dripping in grease like some of the other places I’ve been. Make sure you find a table with a full bottle of hot sauce and honey. Customer service is excellent. You are always greeted with a smile. The cashier is always friendly and genuinely seems happy to help. Everyone works together and helps out so you never have to wait long for your food. They are also constantly wiping down tables and sweeping so the tables and floors are always clean. Definitely my favorite fried chicken in north Austin.

Because sometimes you just need fried chicken. Right? At least I do. I’ve eaten healthy all week and my body just told me that it wants fried chicken. This chicken chain was started in Waco years ago. I was at a local fund raiser in Waco years ago and was told that one of the people bidding on items was the founder of Bushes Chicken. So when you walk in and see the local, framed high school merchandise, you can believe that they support local high school athletics. And I like that. Even thou he sold his restaurant years ago(it is now headquartered here in Austin) I believe the new owners keep up this tradition. The fried chicken tenders are not greasy; they are crisp, tender and really good. I always order the chicken tenders so I can’t comment on any other type of chicken. All chicken tender orders come with white, cream gravy. Try mixing some hot sauce with the cream gravy to add a little spice in your life. Hot sauce and paper towels are provided on the table. The small side salads are good too. My lettuce was crisp and fresh. Nothing wilted about this side salad. And the small container the salad comes in is perfect for mixing the dressing on the salad. Simply pour the dressing on the salad, make sure the container is secure, and shake the shit out of it. I ordered the #1 with a side salad. See my pics for details. And you can get a gallon of iced tea to go! They have a three lane drive thru so service is quick. This restaurant is super clean. And the cashier who took my order was friendly.

Glad when this Bush’s opened up — we have been here several times. Each occasion the chicken has been fresh and hot — we always get a box of tenders and a couple of add-on pieces. The last time through we had to let the pieces cool a a bit when we got home. The livers have been fresh, and the drive-through service during happy hour(when we get our gallon of sweet tea) very fast. They have become a regular family stop.

I was driving home from school tonight with my boyfriend and it was 9:58PM. We saw Bushs was open and went through the drive thru. The employee greeted us promptly and cheerfully and was able to answer the questions we had on the menu. She was so kind and attentive and hooked it up with the right condiments, sides, and spices. She gave us a drink while we waited on our fresh tenders to cook. I asked her what time she closed and she said 10, and seeing how it was after 10 I was shocked at how nice this employee was being. I’ve never been so shocked at customer service and I’ve been to this location before. Wish we could’ve gotten her name, but she was such a blessing and we appreciated her.

We went to Bush’s Chicken for the first time last week. We had the chicken tenders with fries and gravy. The chicken tenders were crispy and the fries were hot. The service was good and the prices are reasonable. We will be going back.

On a whim as I was heading to Chick-Fil-A, I decided to detour into Bush’s Chicken. This was my first time here. I pulled into the parking, lot skipping the drive thru for the full inside take out service experience, plus I always like to see the cleanliness of the kitchen the first time I go some place and see if the employees absolutely hate their jobs or not. I wasn’t disappointed here, the kitchen was clean and the employees was engaged in their work. I had to figure out the chicken menu. I always heard their sweet tea alone was worth a visit. The gentlemen that helped me whom I’m going to assume was the manager was very helpful and patient. I had the deer in headlights look as I perused the menu in search of a chicken meal of interest to me. I didn’t want to get too much or too little for the first time. It had to be just right. I ended up going with the 3 piece and a roll. I was also given a complimemtary order of sweet tea to try. I have to skip the chicken and go straight to the sweet tea. It was good really good I will be getting a jug for the fridge next time and tea will get me t come back for some chicken. The tea is very sweet, but in a just right type of way with the crushed iced mixed in especially. The chicken was good. Well seasoned, very crispy skin and nice hot tempture. Its good enough to quell a fried chicken craving, but not great enough to go out of your way for it. However I will probably be a customer when in need of fried chicken, because there’s not much good choices in Northwest Austin

I am new to the area and new to a lot of new food chains, including Bush’s Chicken. This review is from a first timer. Here are my thoughts on the place during my first visit: 1. The staff is unbelievably nice and friendly. Everyone I encountered here was smiling, outgoing, and genuine. It’s so refreshing to be around nice people. 2. On top of being nice, the staff really wanted to do a great job. They were all working hard and checking on everyone. No one was slacking and everyone was working as a team. The customer service was fabulous! 3. The food came out super hot, like nuclear fission hot, as well as fast! I hardly had time to get to my table when the food came out. Everything was fresh and looked lovely. This is just amazing compared to most fast food places, in my opinion. 4. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. I got the manager special, which is available from 10 – 3 daily. It included 3 tenders, fries or mashed potatoes, a roll, a side of gravy, and a soda for $ 5.50. Not too shabby in my book! Everything else on the menu looked to be priced accordingly. I totally felt like I was getting a great deal for my money. I left full and happy. 5. The store was sparkling clean. I know this is a new location, but I swear it was spotless and shiny. The outside looked as good as the inside. 6. Each table had salt, pepper, special seasoning, ketchup, and hot sauce on them. It’s nice to have all condiments you need on the table. I am one of those people that always forgets something and end up running back and forth several times before I can sit down and eat. Thanks for making my life easier, at least for my lunch period! Now for the food review! The food itself was pretty standard run of the meal. Here’s the run down: The chicken tenders were big and juicy. The breading was fried perfectly and was a beautiful golden brown when it came out. The chicken really didn’t have a huge«slap yo mama» flavor to them, but they were solid, fried chicken tenders. The french fries were crispy with a bit of crunch on the outside and tasted great. The gravy was a little blah, but I added extra pepper and it was tasty then. The roll was fantastic! Overall, the food is good and the customer service is AMAZING. I will be back for sure.
