My first visit was late afternoon December 2013 in the bar area with my family… We had never been here but heard about it. The lunch was so wonderful. and the ambiance .the view of the golf course made it more special. Move on to Cocktails one night and people getting up to sing and can some of these people sing ! ! ! The food was outstanding. I am afraid to tell more people about this jewel here in the desert… because I selfishly want it to be my little secret. Oh well here is it… It’s fabulous… go enjoy… tell your friends. ! !

The bartender assistant with the dumb hipster mustache has to go!!! The food was less than impressive to boot! The best part is when i had to help a 90 old who fell on the ground up. Where was the staff, probably waxing his dumb mustache!!!

I’ve been wanting to try this place and since I noticed they had a Unilocal deal and it was Restaurant Week, I thought it was the perfect time. The décor is a little outdated but it is clean and cozy with eclectic art for sale on the walls. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Service was very good. I started with the mixed greens salad. The bleu cheese dressing was very good but the salad was tossed and by the time I finished it, it was quite soggy. My main course was the pork chop. It was a nice, thick and juicy chop with figs and apples. The presentation was beautiful. The broccoli that came with it was absolutely perfect. Still crunchy and seasoned perfectly. The mashed potatoes were a little bland. I never salt my food before eating because usually the salt from prepping/cooking is more than enough. I had to use both salt and pepper in these potatoes. Dessert was a very rich lava cake. Again, the presentation was very nice. I ordered coffee to go with dessert and was very glad I used cream(I usually drink my coffee black) because I was able to see the fly floating in it. To be fair, the fly did not come in my coffee. It had been buzzing around me during the entire meal and must have fallen in after I prepared my coffee. My server was very gracious and just took it away and did not charge me for the coffee since I declined a fresh cup. This visit wasn’t outstanding but(except for the fly) it wasn’t awful either. I will probably be back in the future and try again since the service and presentation were so nice.

Came back for a 2nd time last night for dinner. We arrived at 6:45 and the place was empty. An hour later the place was busting at the seams. This affected the service as Michael was running every which way. We enjoyed our meals and the weather once the Sun disappeared but the restaurant was seriously understaffed when it comes to servers. Michael was apologetic as it seems another server called in sick but we waited and waited and… for simple items like four scoops of ice cream, an apple tart and a Captain & Coke. There has to be a better plan when a server does not come in.

After a terrible initial experience, I gave this restaurant another chance a week later. And I’m glad I did. This time I got a 180 degree change in the food and the service. On the food, it was scrumptious. Ordered a ham and gruyère cheese tart, with 2 eggs sunny-side up on top, and I thoroughly enjoyed this creation. Like a croque madame, this creation was very satisfying indeed. Highly recommend it. And the service was excellent. My glass was never empty. Thank you for paying attention to customer comments, and for taking all appropriate action to make customers happy to return again. Now your beautiful surroundings and gorgeous live jazz music are complemented by delectable food and impeccable service. I am now a fan, and will readily recommended. Thanks for listening, and what a complement to the power of Unilocal and the customer voice.

Pork Belly sliders were excellent. Popcorn shrimp were mostly breaded and probably a frozen food item. Breadsticks ok. Will be back.

Brunch was disappointing. I had been to AJ’s on three previous occasions, but only to drink and snack at the bar. The drinks had always been good, as was the food. This was our first attempt to eat an actual meal and we were somewhat disappointed. Last Sunday we arrived at 11:30 for brunch and were quickly seated. It was early and the restaurant wasn’t too busy. Our waiter attended us and described«the specials for tonight are: …». He may have been asleep as it was clearly daytime and not nighttime. We started with a bloody Mary. After a few minutes, the waiter explained it would be a couple of minutes more for the drink as they had just seated a party of 13. ??? My partner ordered the eggs benedict and I had the Monte Cristo sandwich. The bloody Mary, I might add, was mostly packed ice with very little vodka and mix. The food was delivered by a runner/walker and, throughout the meal, we never saw the waiter again. When we finished eating, he presented the bill, but never asked if everything was alright, or if he could refill our empty water glasses. We paid the bill and left, feeling blah. The food was OK, but just OK, but the service was not. We have no plans to return although the setting is beautiful.

This is the best place in the Coachella Valley. Great proprietors-John and Art. Great servers — Santiago, Alec… and friends. Fabulous beet salad, Caesar salad. Yummy appetizers. Ahi tuna tartar, chicken liver mouse. Great cocktails. And excellent entertainment. Beautiful setting surrounded by water, trees and the mountains. A must try!!!

We’ve been here now several times and really want to like it because it is local owned and operated but I just don’t. Food has every time been marginal at best, service slow and last time they charged us 4 bucks to split a plate and we didn’t even ask them to do it. Just happened to mention we were splitting a meal.

Beautiful day to dine outside. Attentive and friendly service. Food arrived less than hot but very tasty. Wife had a puff pastry tart w eggs and ham and gruyère. I had a veggie and bacon omelet with lots of sautéed veggies. Both large portions. Toast not warm. Prices are appropriate. No waiting on Sunday for brunch. Nice menu choices.

I’m updating the review because AJ’s is so serious about customer service. Go give them a chance and enjoy the adventure of finding this hidden gem. Tell them Karen sent you !

I have dined at AJ’s many times and have always had a pleasant experience. The food is excellent and the service is friendly and attentive. The drinks are also very good. My favorites so the fish and chips and I think it’s the best in the greater Palm Springs area.

Visited AJ’s on the green last evening with friends for appetizers & drinks. All of the food was expertly prepared & delicious. The service by wait staff member Michael was outstanding. A very special place to dine, be entertained, or just kick back for a cold one. If you haven’t visited AJ’s, you are missing out on a real gem in the desert…

Been coming to AJ’s now for about a year and a half now. Always a treat here. Brought friends for lunch, sat on the patio and had a wonderful time. Alec was very attentive and made us feel right at home. Sandwiches were excellent.

While visiting the area, I was looking for a spot that I would feel comfortable enjoying happy hour on my own. Read Unilocal reviews and decided to give AJ’s a try. ITWAS A DELIGHT! Charmingly old school(with a nice updated twist), AJ’s offers a wonderful atmosphere, great menu, live entertainment, and incredible hospitality(thanks to Art and John, and the lively variety of patrons). I didn’t stay for dinner, but the meals looked amazing! Beautifully presented in a charming setting. Can’t wait to return!!!

My Desert Birthday celebration couldn’t have been more enjoyable! We ordered Cheese, Meat & Chicken liver Pâté. Then calamari, prime rib & a wonderful dessert to celebrate my special day. Then we enjoyed amateur mic night. Some of the singers were quite good, however long in the tooth, Lol! Thank you, Sungate crew, David, Lisa, Denny & Elisabeth!

AJs was cute and nice. I had fish and chips, and it was yummy. My only bummer was that they closed the kitchen about 45 minutes into a 90 minute event I attended, and I almost didn’t get to eat. However, I believe this situation is being addressed and I look forward to going again next month. Food is great, service, very attentive.

My wife and I took a friend here last night for his birthday, and we simply could not have picked a better place to go. Live jazz on the outdoor patio(next to a small lake with a fountain on the golf course!), coupled with amazing food and drinks(all on happy hour, no less!), surrounded by the most attentive, friendly service you will find in the desert. I know that the term«hidden gem» gets tossed around way too often, but it is a term that doesn’t even begin to do this place justice. If you’ve been here, you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, you are missing out. Seriously. Go.
