Excellent food and very affordable. I had the pork chop and it was tender and great and she had the tenderloin special and it was fantastic! Great martinis too. Erin was our server and she was on top of everything and very fun. We ended with the red velvet bread pudding and it was off the charts ridiculous!!!

Love love love. Great place all year around. However, I love their patio during the warmer months. Great food and great service.

Another bad experience at the Union. I like to give restaurants several chances to get it right. Sorry Union, I think I am done with you. Again, very poor service(very unfriendly manager — used to be a server) and the food is mediocre(at lunch and dinner). I have no idea if the chef has ever eaten well prepared calamaris. What he serves is a mess. Soft, thick and sitting on top of a remoulade(to get even soggier). The«Happy Hour situation» explained further down by a reviewer is ridiculous. The same happened to us. We got shoved off into the main dining room where there is no Happy Hour menu and you are charged full price. The room itself is very unattractive and where I was sitting I had a spot light shining on me from poorly adjusted lighting from the ceiling. We only went for the convenience to stay in CR. Don’t do it! Get in the car and drive into Denver.

I’ve been here several times for lunch with coworkers and the food is great. I made a reservation for Friday at 5:15 within happy hour. I was asking questions about happy hour and was told the regular dining area doesn’t honor happy hour prices and had to sit in the bar otherwise pay full price. Regular price for margarita and flatbread is quite a bit more if you pay full price! Then I was told bar area(granted this is half the restaurant) was first come first serve so I’d have to wait 30 – 45 minutes for a bar area table. Well by then happy hour would almost be over! They don’t take reservations for the bar so I despite my effort to plan ahead was screwed. I asked the manager why and all he could tell me was it was the owners policy and it helps them plan out their regular dining room seating better. I get it if they want to deter people from taking up tables just drinking for happy hour but we were planning dinner drinking and appetizer so why can’t management at least at a minimum say happy hour in the dining room applies if you order entrees? It was irritating to me so we just left and went to Castle Café! Not planning to give Union any more of my money or paying for any $ 12 martinis just because they are snobby enough to think they deserve it. This restaurant is also very loud due to poor acoustics and surroundings. You can’t hardly hear each other so I was willing to deal with that but now with the inflexibility on happy hour. Union go screw yourself!

I love Union. Their food is unfailingly delicious. Ok – the service hadn’t quite matches their food but it’s not horrible, just a bit slow. Still, this is my favorite place to go for more of an up-scale dining here in Castle Rock. Their lunch is good too – excellent salads that will destroy any thoughts that salad-eating is a healthy choice. Just my style. The beef tenderloin is not to be missed – the reduction is suave of the gods and the beef can nearly be cut with a fork. Try their cheese fondue for an amazing appetizer – it’ll have you licking the small bowl it comes in.

Fantastic experience… service was excellent, and the drinks and food were outstanding. Do yourself a favor and try the Union and don’t forget to save room for the bread seasonal bread pudding!

I remember going to Union when it first opened but somehow I failed to review it then and I have since moved from Castle Rock. Since my brother now lives there I was happy to meet him for Saturday happy hour pricing today. If you don’t know, Saturday from 2 – 4 martinis are half off(normally $ 12) from 2 – 4 in the bar area. They have a great food menu to chose from and are famous around town for their Brussel sprouts. I started with a Pearl Heaven martini and followed it with a Black Pearl. Our table also had the Lemon drop and Oh grasshopper and all were very good. I opted for the Italian egg rolls which were a fun and different app and followed it with the Po boy tacos which were super flavorful. I got a taste of the Mac cheese which was bland in my opinion(maybe add bacon and or tomato?) and the Siracha Brussel sprouts which were tasty. I was also able to try the coconut pie but I chose the chocolate waffle dessert. To be honest the waffle itself was a bit dry but the marshmallow and fudge made it delicious. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. Didn’t get his name but they were slamming today and he took great care of us.

Things I really enjoyed: ambiance, low lighting, warm paint, clean bathrooms, great service, and good food. HH is a good deal, if you can find a seat. 2−6pm during week, I’d suggest being there by 3 – 330, because it fills in quick. By 4pm on a Wed it was getting pretty full, and no seats at the bar left. Food: I felt like every dish needed something taken off it. So many components that made the food more complicated and overdone than it needed to be. Less is more in my eyes and my stomach. I also found every dish needed balance. Some to sweet, some to bitter. Almost every appetizer I had needed acid, my husband; a chef, put lemon on three different dishes and it made a huge difference in flavor. Something so simple made a giant difference in the dishes. In the end, I wanted the simplify the food and balance out the flavors a bit more. Every dish was missing a minor thing, so I know it could be altered and be fantastic, because the food is really good, just not great. Overall, for Castle Rock this place is great, and much better than most. We will definitely be back for happy hour. ** They also have a good patio for summertime.

Stopped in for a late lunch after some Christmas shopping. What a wonderful find! The steamed mussels were the best I’ve ever had.

Wow, what a gem this is in downtown Castle Rock! We decided to come here for our first ever meal in Castle Rock after checking out a few trucks in the area. This was exactly what we were in the mood for — cozy restaurant with good food and good drinks! FOOD: the menu is divided into small plates($ 9-$ 12), big plates(~$ 20), sandwiches(~$ 11) and sweet plates. I ordered the Thai flatbread with shrimp instead of chicken which was a really good meal portion even though it’s a small plate item. I loved the sweet and tangy chili sauce on top of the crispy thin bread with lots of Asian veggies and grilled shrimp! My taste buds were pleasantly tickled by all the wonderful flavors in this dish! This wasn’t any cheese on this flatbread which was just fine since it’s not part of the Thai cuisine. Definitely one of the best things I’ve ever tasted! My boyfriend had the pork belly sandwich, which is the signature sandwich there! I can definitely see why that is as the meat is braised for hours to achieve the level of tenderness! Finally the apple slaw and marble rye bread tied all the flavors together nicely! SERVICE: our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and we ordered 2 of her personal favorite and we were so glad that we did! She checked in on us regularly to make sure we were doing OK. VIBE: cozy, inviting, and modern. There is a separate dining room that is perfect for family and friends get togethers separate from the bar and high-top tables. There is a TV in the bar area for watching games. Overall, we were extremely happy with our first meal in this small town and Union definitely set the bar high for good food! I’d eat here again(maybe for Happy Hour) next time when I’m in the area!

A «hidden» gem in Castle Rock. Do not drive to Denver for great, thoughtful food. It is here. The chef(s) are very creative with their combinations but seem to avoid the acceptable missteps that sometimes come with pushing norms to the side. Simple changes to everyday foods turn your meal into an experience. Be sure to include all that is presented on your plate. Every ingredient plays its’ own part. I will be returning with hungry, hard to please friends. Hotty Toddy!

Great little spot for lunch on a Saturday. Pretty full house at opening and food came out quickly. The Chicken Salad was perfect and the fries were tasty though they could have been a little warmer. Not a bad spot for roughly $ 15 per person with tip.

We stopped here for lunch on their patio on our way to a meeting at Sew-Ciety. What a delicious spinach and kale salad! It was topped with Quinoa, asparagus, strawberries, cauliflower & pine nuts… in a dairy free creamy balsamic. Yum! Felt like the greens were just picked. So fresh and so flavorful. I cleaned the bowl! Service was great too. Definitely would return to try some other items on their menu.

Wow, what a great find! I read most of the reviews about it before heading in, but I’m completely blown away at this menu. Everything we ordered had us drooling, even something as simple as the side salad! The raspberry balsamic dressing just explodes in your mouth, I couldn’t have asked for a better starter to our meal. We shared an order of the special last Thursday night, which was a quarter chicken with summer succotash, three cheese stuffed squash blossom, and some sort of apple purée. Absolutely stunning presentation, and wow! YUMMY! Every time a waiter walked passed us with a tray of food, we were more and more impressed with how delicious each dish looked. I will absolutely be going back again and again. And make sure to mention if it’s your first visit! Dessert is on the house!(Try the Key Lime Pie, you won’t regret it.)

We have not visited Union in months but today turned out to be that kind of walking downtown late afternoon to this amazingly delicious HH. Crunchy Broccoli, Calamari, Ruben on flatbread and the best house made cole-slaw ever were all sooo tasty and perfectly prepared that each deserves far more than 5 stars. Yes it’s a bit noisy but the service was great, the delicious tasty small plates, friendly peeps in the community area created a GREAT not 5 but TEN star Friday night date. Also the healthy pours on wine was a nice plus.

We had a great lunch here on NYE. There is no separate lunch menu; it’s the same all day– except for happy hour! I hear the hh is awesome and I have visited their sister restaurant, Uniscali. Definitely will return because the bar is great. I had the spinach and kale salad with walnuts and it was delicious. It was pretty spendy at over $ 10 for no protein, however. Hubs and his friend had burgers. They were good but my husband’s looked a bit overdone. We both ordered a side of brussels sprouts with bacon($ 5) because it’s my new addiction and I have to try them everywhere! These are very good and I’d definitely order them again.
