I like this place but only have been one. Cary was the meeting town btween me and a friend. I have talked to several people that have had terrible experiences where the staff messes up their bill or rushes them out. Overall the food is alright, I enjoyed the Pretzel bites. This place is more for young people to hit the bar vs enjoy dinner here This place and it’s old location use to be great, it has definitely gone down hill

Food was okay. Server totally sucked. Came here for our daughters 8th grade graduation might as well taken her to McDonald’s. The server never made polite conversation, couldn’t careless if we were there or not. Had to get her attention to order drinks. When confronted she said you should have reminded me. There are better places nearby don’t waste your time and money at Galatis Hideaway, Cary

Where to begin– I thoroughly enjoyed this place. I read some Unilocal reviews before coming and was skeptical, but was very pleasantly surprised. We sat outside and started with bruschetta and fried mushrooms, both were very good. We had some martinis and beers also amazing and refreshing. I had the meatball sandwich and my boyfriend had the fettuccini Alfredo. Both very very tasty and the potions are so big! Especially for the moderate price the potions were awesome. We finished the night with tiramisu which was home made and very very delicious. Our service was excellent, Nello was our server and he was extremely attentive and lovely. They also had a live 17 piece band. Overall such a wonderful evening and I would gladly come back. The only negative I can say is someone who was waiting for a table asked if we would be done soon which was a little annoying. I don’t want to be rushed by someone waiting for a table.

Used to go to their original restaurant years ago and loved their baked mostocolli. When they moved across the street, it was still good, but it’s not any good at the old Wool St location. It’s more like just plain pasta with tons of sauce in and especially on top. The mozzarella cheese was hard to find. It actually made me sick. My guest had the manicotti and didn’t care for it. There wasn’t much filling and it was plain. Again too much sauce. The salad and soup was no big deal. Portello’s is a better choice actually. Won’t be back.

Delicious food. I can go down the entire list of pastas and be happy and fulfilled. The staff is nice and the owner Vince has always been great. Great drinks as well

Six of us arrived about 6:45 on St Patrick’s day. They were out of corned beef and Reuben’s … Poor service and mediocre food. Would not care to return

Not terrible, not great. When we walked in the door there were three specials listed. When we asked about them while getting seated we were told oh those are not available until next Thursday. Ah okay… The restaurant side is beautiful and clean. They give you big loaves of warm bread with butter or olive oil and balsamic. Our server Denise was great. I got the chicken Parmesan. Big portion. I thought it was good. Some got burgers and said they were good. Although one had to be sent back, not done enough. The chicken Marsala was okay. The sauce was sweet, weird. The wedding soup came without any meatballs in it. Why would you serve soup that way? I heard the pizzas are good but we did not have any. The prices did not seem too bad. Not sure I will go back.

This place has been in Cary what seems to be like forever — still DON’T understand how. They have the most unfavorable and boring food on the planet. Remember that scene in Goodfellas when Ray Liotta complains about how bad the marinara sauce is… I bet it’s better than this place. Absolutely the worst! They moved to the old Wool Street location. It makes you wish Wool Street never closed. If you want better Italian food you would be better off going to the store and buy some frozen lasagna.

Ate here for lunch and the food was very disappointing, I ordered the meatball sub sandwich and it was Dry, no cheese, and sauce less, every meatball sub I’ve ordered in the last 30 years from numerous restaurants has been covered in red sauce. Wake up Galatis, your supposed to an Italian restaurant, your missing it! The other people at our table were also not impressed, so we will not be back anytime soon. I hope they get it figured out, the bar area is fantastic, but the food and service needs some serious improvement…

Very disappointed! Galatis seems like they lost something when they moved into the bigger building. I’ve gone back numerous times hoping they would improve but sadly I keep getting disappointed. Without trying to dissect the restaurant to much here are a few things that have pushed me away for good… The bar, chairs, and menu are dirty. Very unappetizing. Food was very uneventful, Everything that’s fried tastes like it came from a freezer bag, tried the signature Italian Beef just to be let down by stale bread.

Don’t get the pan pizza. Way way waaaaaaay undercooked beyond fixing(we tried putting it in the oven for a while but the cheese(and we ordered extra cheese) mostly burned off while the dough was still pretty raw in the center. The thin crust was fine. But the pan was not. Other requests for how it was prepared went ignored as well.

We went here yesterday for dinner and overall it was a decent experience. I liked that the place was busy during dinner time, but not busy enough that we were still able to be seated right away. Service was great. Waitress was attentive and not overbearing and had a smile on her face our whole experience. Wife and I both had the Ritolo — she had the lobster with the meat sauce and I had the spinach with the marinara. Both were very good enough to take home for leftovers. I would have normally given a 4/5, but I am a little concerned with the freshness of the salad or the dressing on the particular night we went. Enough to say I probably would not get a dinner salad here, again. The only reason I say this is because I wasn’t feeling too well a couple hours after dinner, and despite all of the Ritolo I ate(and the sauce/garlic flavoring included), I was burping up only the contents of the salad all night(my apologies for the graphic images). I am not a biology major, but the fact that I had no issues eating the leftover ritolo, but the thought of a salad makes me nauseous tells me something. The fact that this place is somewhat hard to find if you’ve never been here, cannot be seen from busy route 14 and is still busy says a good thing about the reputation. We will be back — and ordering soup with our meals next time.

We popped in this past Sunday in hopes that the Bears might show up and play football. Wellllllllllllllllllll, as you know they lost but we came out winners with Galati’s great beer selection and the free pizza at half time. Our server was tip top too. A great place to watch your favorite sport– we may just have to show up on a night that the Hawks are playing. :)

We had our office party here last night. We asked them for a U-Shape table so that we all can talk and mingle with our co-workers spouses which we never met before until tonight. They gave us four round tables with about 4 – 5 at each table. We had to yell across the tables to talk. If you can’t do what we ask then call the person and tell them(I’m sorry but we have another party and they are using all the tables.) We can recommend another option to see if you like this. Moving on, the wine list was a little sad. The apps were good. Then comes dinner, and I ordered Veal Marsala which I’m big Veal fan. They didn’t pound the veal which makes it tough when you don’t do that. Another co-workers husband ordered the Veal Parm and his was tough as well. For another of my co-workers the steak was cold but tender which is somewhat of a good sign. This not to discourage anyone from trying this place. It may have been a bad night.
*Just to note I have over twelve years in the restaurant business working at Italian restaurants in the city from waiter, manager and wine buyer. I’m in the process of starting my own restaurant consultant group in the NW burbs. I would love to help out this place if I could. People need constructive criticism once in a while and a fresh take on things. As my Dad says when you write a review sign your name so the owner can get back to you. Here’s my number 312−504−7804 call me anytime. –Dan

We had our Christmas party their last evening and will never eat there again. I ordered the veal marsala and it was horrible, the veal was tough like shoe leather, the sauce was congealed and the meal was luke warm, the cheesecake tasted like it had been sitting around a month. My husband had the veal parmesan and his was so bad that he was sick not only at the restaurant but I had to pull over twice on the way home. I have since spoken to my coworkers who were also ill from their food. So not only will we never use this venue as a party place but my husband I will never eat their again. If Galatis would like to contact me they may email me at

I’ve loved Galatis for years, once my late husband and I discovered they had Boddington’s on tap, we were sold. Their pizza, burgers and marinara sauce are my favorites. The last few times we went, the food was still excellent, but the service was lacking. One girl didn’t even look up or smile at us the whole time we were there. Another time it took us 2 hours and 45 minutes to get two appetizers and three entrees. Last night Kyle was our server and he was excellent from beginning to end — Vince, you need to clone Kyle or have Kyle teach the rest of your staff how to be a great server. I would actually try to request him the next time we dine, that’s how good he was.

Stopped in for lunch on Labor Day and had a GREAT meal with excellent service! Blue cheese burger rocks and the chicken tenders are huge and made great leftovers. Mozzarella sticks and sauce were so good we can’t wait to come back and try the pasta dishes! We will be back soon! !

Stopped in for lunch with my 3 and 6 year olds yesterday… I really didn’t like the pasta sauce here(at the old location), and I left a review describing it – but this experience was totally different. Instead of pasta, we ordered a cheese pizza, which was actually really good. So good, in fact, that my three year old who eats like a bird ate THREE slices of pizza! Both kids said it was their new favorite pizza. Our server was also on point, refilling drinks at the perfect time, without needing to be asked.(Granted, it was not busy at all). I also met one of the owners who was at the bar at the time, and seemed like a genuinely nice guy. Bonus points: $ 1 hot dogs every day at lunch time with drink purchase. I’ll give it another shot – but I’m still not brave enough to try the lasagna again…

My family and I have been dining at Galati’s for years now. Never disappointed. We’ve been to the new place twice now, and wait staff is great. My personal favorite meal is the stuffed peppers. My tweens both adore the homemade soups and gnocchi with vodka sauce. Pizza is always tasty. Prices are reasonable, which is an added bonus. Family friendly for sure. Bring crayons for the paper table cloths.

Dylan has to be one of my favorite people ever!!! He has been running all over during a Blackhawks game just to make sure we are taken care of! One of THE friendliest people — he should be part of the training staff. Love this bar/restaurant and would come back again in a heartbeat if everyone was just like him. :) Go Hawks!

We were at Galati’s Hideaway for a PubUSA Trivia event last Saturday. We were looking forward to the visit bc we had heard a lot about it. When we arrived we were greeted immediately. The place was full bc there were a lot of trivia teams getting ready for the tournament. We ordered the pretzel appetizer. It was a big disappointment. They buy the pretzel bites from the grocery store for $ 3.99 or $ 4.99 give u half of them with some commercial cheese sauce and honey mustarrd and charge u $ 9.95! WTH? I ordered the chopped salad. it was chopped with lots of dressing on it. I would order the dressing on the side the next time. The service was EXCELLENT. We had sat at the bar and were asked repeatedly if we were doing ok. My husband ordered the burger. It seems as if Galati’s is known for the pizza so i will go back to try it again. They had lots of food and drink specials. I hope to update this review with a better rating. Don’t waste your time on the pretzel bites.

Stopped in for dinner during the week. They had a $ 15 wine bottle special. I was feeling a beer about them and they have a very good selection. We ordered stuffed peppers and mushroom soup for a side. both were outstanding. The place is pretty big — not cozy like The former Galati’s but it’s growing on me.

eeeehhhhhhhhh one of those times I wish Unilocal had .5 star increments; I’m rounding up on this one. As long time customers of Galati’s we’re not overly excited about the new place. The good: the staff that came over from the old place are as wonderful as ever. I have always had a really awesome experience with Galati’s staff. Their Italian food and pizzas are as delicious as they have always been. Can’t go wrong with the Parmesan dishes which are my absolute favorite. Galati’s bruschetta is shockingly good, as in it’s about the best I’ve ever had! The bad… Ever since the move many things have been sliding backwards for Galati’s. The menu is way too ambitious. A restaurant can’t do EVERYTHING and it’s impacting their quality. I have never had to send something back before the new bar menu. Frankly the most of the bar menu tastes like it spilled out of the Costco freezer section and on to your plate. I forgot the horrifying sandwich that needed to just go away but suffice it to say your best bet is to stick to their standards-pizza and Italian food. Those do not disappoint. The service is abysmal. I really hate to comment on this but it’s so very bad. Almost everyone is very nice but either poorly trained, totally inexperienced or completely overwhelmed. I had a couple very bizarre exchanges with the new staff that I hesitate to mention-I don’t want to call anyone out specifically. It’s a like a few of them have never even BEEN in a restaurant, much less worked in one. Finally, can we PLEASE get some wifi???
