Golden Cheng

Awesome Chinese food — similar to what you’d find in and around NYC. Consistently good and fresh. The family that owns the place is really sweet and one time they gave us some free spring rolls to sample! Not really an eat-​in place if you’re looking for atmosphere, but definitely the best Chinese food in the area.

When we lived in Carthage for two years this was our go-​to place for Chinese food! The food was ALWAYS good, and fresh! My husband and I were never disappointed with the food. Lots of fresh vegetables were used in the dishes, and I love that! Service is also very nice and friendly!

I absolutely love this place. We lived in Carthage six years ago when we were first stationed at Fort Drum. Golden Cheng was our go-​to place for Chinese food then. After we moved, no other Chinese take-​out seemed to measure up. Golden Cheng is fresh and consistent. CONSISTENCY is the key here. I know what I’m going to get when I order from there.
Mainly, the General Tsao’s Chicken is perfect. I have never encountered another General Tsao’s with Golden Cheng’s level of crunchy (not soggy) chicken and the perfect spicy tangy flavor.
When we were stationed at Fort Drum again six years later, I was excited and nervous to go back to Golden Cheng – even though we now live in Philadelphia, quite a ways away. Would it have the SAME food? Was I remembering it better than it actually was? Turns out… yes. The food is exactly the same. No, I wasn’t remembering it wrong. The General Tsao’s Chicken really WAS that good.
Now my only problem is that I will have to drive ALL THE WAY from Philly to get Golden Cheng take-​out.
