The people working there are really pleasant. The food is okay, not bad. The only thing was that my rice was a bit undercooked and super dry as I didn’t get much of the broth the beans are in. The pork chops I had were also okay, needed a bit more seasoning. Overall, a okay spot to order takeout if you’re in the area.

Great food! Great service! Food is really delicious. We have had the pernil, cuban sandwich, rice and beans, and plantains but the beef empanadas are by far my favorite. I stop by after work and pick up a few and fry them myself at home when im ready. Love it here

After traveling to the dominican republic I fell in love with the local food. I never thought I could ever find the quality and amazing taste anywhere else in the US. Most places in the states have been fake and inauthentic. I was wrong when one of my friends told me about this small little gem in Carteret, NJ. It is truly a great place to stop by if you want authentic dominican food.

Simply amazing! This family owned restaurant is to die for. Every bite takes me back to beautiful Santa Domingo. I highly recommend the skirt steak, any of the sandwiches and the empanadas. The staff here is very welcoming, and charming. If you are ever looking for a great local spot to eat in Carteret look no further. I will definitely be back, and plan on catering from them for my sons graduation party!!! Thank you La Cocina Latina, a great Spanish restaurant was much needed!

It doesn’t get better than this folks, genuine home styled Dominican food that is sure to please. Conveniently located right off the turnpike in Carteret, La Cocina Latina offers an array of delicious Spanish dishes and a variety fruit smoothies for a nice post meal refreshment. From plantains to beans, rice and pork chops there is something for everyone to enjoy. My personal favorite is the steak and onions, so simple yet so good, a must try if when you visit! Definitely will be back!

Wow, good home cooked food with genuine Dominican charm. Steak and Onions so delicious and just like mamma cooks at home. Simple and clean interior with friendly and helpful staff. A family run operation and makes you feel right at home for lunch. It amazes me that you can have freshly cooked, carefully sourced home style cooking for the same price as a Big Mac meal.

Nice, quaint place. Not too big. Looks clean. Really more for take out but some tables set up to eat in. Food is decent, not bad. I’ve only tried the skirt steak and fried pork chops and rice and beans so far. All were ok but needed a little more flavor from some good olé Sazon. I would definitely come back to try some other things. For some flavorful Spanish food, I still go to Surrender Café in Woodbridge. The best in the area!
