Use to be a really good restaurant, food always delicious, fresh and cheap. My number one China restaurant, is sad I don’t know any other good restauran. Food still cheap but taste not even close to the one they have before. Won’t comeback for a while I hope they improve. Later. One star for service they mmmm ok.

Horrible customer service. when I was seated a waited a good while for the waiter to come around and offer us something to drink they never came and finally when she showed up she still didn’t offer anything to drink or appatizer. I ordered she had along face basically threw the plates at me I came cause it had good reviews but it’s not even like that the food is not all that it took along time to get served very disappointed never coming here again.

I’ve been coming here for the weekday lunch special for years. You absolutely can’t beat it. A large, tasty entrée, a heaping helping of fried rice, Wonton, egg roll, egg flower soup and hot tea. Every lunch special is under $ 9! The service is very good, and the atmosphere is friendly. Eat here! You’ll be pleased.

This restaurant serves a lot of food at a reasonable price. It is a western Chinese restaurant with very little Chinese dishes you might find in Chinatown or Monterey Park. I guess I’m spoiled living in San Gabriel, but once you’ve tasted authentic Chinese food, there’s no going back.

Pros: Best Mongolian Beef, our family’s favorite! Every phone order comes with rice. Con: Their pork chop is not good though.

I was so disappointed in the food and inattentive service, the workers look miserable. Anyways, so when we got seated I couldn’t help but notice how gross it was just sitting there. We ordered Mongolian beef which was overly sweet, chow mein was OK, and beef with soggy broccolis. I won’t be coming back here anytime soon.

Although it sadness me to update this review with a downgrade, but Lucky China has changed. Since the previous owners have moved on to other things in life the new Lucky China has not been the same place. I cannot recommend this place to anyone anymore. The quality and taste of the food has gone downhill and I find myself driving to other corners of the world to get my Chinese food fix. If they go back to their original flavors, I will return, until then good bye.

My mother was craving chinese food so she picked some up in the area. 1.) At 1:30PM, they charged her dinner time pricing. It was rude especially because my mom is way too kind to say anything. 2.) The broccoli and beef was the worst I’ve ever had. The beef was extremely soggy but my mom said that’s how some people prefer it. 3.) The mapo tofu was really random. It seemed like they took whatever ingredients they had, mashed it with large chunks of tofu and combined it to call it mapo tofu. 4.) The pepper pork was so burnt that there were areas that were black. Since my mom’s nice, she said«at least their food isn’t oily.»

Saved me a trip to China Town. The food and service is amazing and so reasonable. Great lunch specials and huge portions for $ 6.95-$ 8.25. Ordered the Almond Chicken lunch and BBQ Beef. Both awesome, but way too much food. Do I hear leftovers? ;-)

Since my siblings and I had been busy with work and kids and it was a weeknight, we asked my mom to pick a restaurant she wanted to eat dinner at. It was her birthday and traditionally, she believes you have to eat noodles on your birthday for long life. So… she chose Chinese. Instead of going to our usual Chinese Food restaurant choices(and because out of the four of us, we each had our own favorites in Torrance and my mom had a church meeting in Carson), we decided on Lucky China. Ah, Lucky China, you were so popular and yummy in the 80’s and 90’s. Now you’ve aged and changed – well the only thing that has changed is the quality and flavor of the food. It’s aged as they have not done anything to it since I was in High School. You can tell the wear and tear of the place. I remember when this was«the best» Chinese Food around. In fact, this was where I came with my friends from High School and their families came from High School well into my 20’s but that had been it. I think they might have different owners now because I didn’t recognize anyone from back in the day, the restaurant seemed to have way more non-Asian’s than Asian. The servers were not warm or friendly and seemed rushed which, the restaurant is small but there were no lines or groups waiting. We ordered the following: Wonton Soup — Pretty bland and there wasn’t much too it. Funny thing, there was meat but not really any wontons. Beef Broccoli — This was probably the best tasting dish of all the plates we ordered. The beef was tender; broccoli was not soggy or burnt. Mongolian Beef — This used to be my favorite and the main reason I came here. It was not as good as I remember. The meat was meh kind of chewy, a little on the sweeter side. Sweeter than I remember. I felt the green onions were not fresh and it was just an okay dish. Chicken Chow Mein — This was also another dish that was on the bland side. Could have used more vegetables and meat. BBQ Fried Rice — was good but how can you go wrong with Fried rice? Orange Chicken — My daughter and nephew are big orange chicken fans. I did not taste this but she claims it was okay and she’s had better. She felt there was a lot of batter and it was very crunchy. Overall, this place could use a serious makeover, some«Bam!» in their food and a warmer reception. Portions are good, no complaints about that but their parking situation is terrible. They have a very small private lot that during lunch and dinner rush, you will have a tough time parking.

Instead of going to China Bowl Express my regular spot for Chinese food, I decided to give Lucky China Restaurant a try as it seemed to have very high ratings on Unilocal. On a Wednesday at the peak lunch hour it was really packed so it is definitely very popular which I took as a good sign. I checked out their menu and decided to get the beef and broccoli lunch special($ 7.25) to go which comes with an egg roll and fried wanton(no soup in to-go orders which is in line with other Chinese restaurants). They take cards without any minimums so that was great. After this it was about a 10 minute wait to get the food so up to this point it was smooth sailing. Unfortunately it took a steep downhill dive from this point on. As soon as I lifted the lid of the container I was hit was a strong smell of raw beef which was very off-putting. The beef was mushy and had a rubbery texture. Biting it felt like chewing on a piece of sponge. I just could not get myself to eat this crap so I stuck to the broccoli which thankfully was perfectly steamed. To make matters worse the beef and broccoli were floating in grease so I drained that from the container which reduced the smell of raw beef and made eating the broccoli bearable. The fried rice was passable at best but edible. The egg roll was soggy and gross so after a bite was safely thrashed. The wanton was crispy fried but I did not eat it as I was not sure of the meat inside. I managed to satisfy my hunger with the broccoli and fried rice, but this was one of the worst dishes that I’ve had in a Chinese restaurant. I generally go to a China Bowl Express or Hong Kong Express for my Chinese meals so my benchmarks are pretty low. Unfortunately Lucky China Restaurant was not been able to meet even these low standards. I’ll stick to my regular places and avoid Lucky China Restaurant. At the bare minimum I’ll save a couple of bucks on the meal :)

I’ve been to Lucky China twice. First time was with a family and some visitors from out of town. That experience was so-so with nothing to rave about. I really didn’t take notice of the environment until the next time around and the food wasn’t anything to remember. The second time I came here was with the same family, who are some die hard Lucky China Restaurant goers. However, this time, I opened the and held door for everyone else and all I saw was a big fat«B grade» health rating. The family I came with nonchalantly walked in with no clue of what I just saw. Now, given the fact that they loved this restaurant and have been going here for years, who was I to kill their joy and put the restaurant on blast like that?! As I sat down, I couldn’t help but think of the decision I made to keep my mouth shut. I just started noticing everything around me that wasn’t clean. From the cups, to the plates, and even the utensils, I kept thinking about that big fat B on the front door. From where I sat, I had a clear view of the kitchen, and it just looked unsanitary. There was a trashcan next to the stove with stains all over it. Now, when a customer remembers the trashcan in the kitchen better than the food, there’s a problem. Did I mention that I couldn’t stop thinking about that B? Then came the food. The white rice that was served to us was old(trust me, Pacific Islanders LOVE rice, and I’ve been cooking rice my whole life. So I KNOW fresh/old rice when I see it). The different types of chicken we ordered tasted the same; just masked with a different sauce. We also received our food faster than usual. I thought this was weird, but come to think of it, that just means the food was either cooked fresh and extremely fast or that it’s been sitting in the kitchen and waiting to be ordered… I’ll let you decide. And to top it all off, let’s add the bland customer service with ol’ girl who took our orders having an attitude. I mean, the least she could’ve done was smile. I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt and say she was having a bad day. Overall, I think that was the least amount of food I ever ate at a Chinese restaurant in one sitting. Now, will I ever come back to Lucky China? When that health grade rating is an A, then I’ll consider to think about it. As of now, the family I went with still has no clue about that B grade health rating lol.

I was introduced to this place by a couple of friends who said good things about it. Small parking lot. The place itself is a lil small but well kept and the staff is nice from my experience. We were greeted with a complementary egg flower soup with crunchy wonton chips and some greet tea which was really good. My choice was the three flavor kung pao special. The food came fresh and hot how it should be. The portions are big and the rice is good, not greasy. I had a taste of their orange chicken and I wasn’t disappointed, it wasn’t too sweet or too hard like other places i’ve tried. Over all I had a good experience. This isn’t your tipical Chinese food joint next to your local liquor store so it’s definitely a step up and the prices are fair. If you’ve been spoiled all your life then you wont be impressed. Good spot, I’ll definitely go back soon.

My parents introduced me to this restaurant three years ago, and we always find time to have quick dinner here from time to time. The customer service here is great– all the workers are hard-worker and attentive. They have a huge private parking, so that shouldn’t be a problem. This restaurant gets so packed during Sundays, especially dinner hours. Not going to lie but there entrees are showered with MSG! We only go here for their BBQ Beef, it’s like Mongolian Beef but has a sweet flavor which I love! They also offered unlimited hot jasmine tea and their lunch specials are such a great deal. So if you’re looking for a Chinese joint with affordable prices and has an extensive menu choices, go to Lucky China!
