Ordered a dozen hopias= 7 pork baboys and 5 taro. They were ready in 15 minutes. The women was also very sweet. Definitely coming back for more!

Little know bakery but sooo good hopia, empanada and polvoron. Why I have not heard of this place before escapes me. But I have bought all three and shared with friends everyone was surprised how good it was. They kept asking where I got it. Too bad the place closes early on weekdays. But the time I get off from word they are closed.

My co workers brought me some pastries from here and i fell in love with the hopia. It’s a pastry with sweet bean. The empanadas are to die for. It has a nice flaky crust and the filling reminds me of a savory pot pie. Definitely coming again

«Hopia, mani, popcorn.» Oh how I miss the Manila sounds! And then everything else… the excessive honks, the jeepneys, the tricycles, the greasy yet so delicious street food, the haggling, the hagglers, the familiar faces, the snatchers, the mixed dialects… I can’t wait to go back! For now, I’ll chill around the city of Carson for some Filipino vibe. Ha! One of the snacks I crave most would have to be the hopia. It’s part Filipino and part Indonesian inspired. Many insist it’s a Chinese pastry. It’s similar but not quite. A lot of the times, they’re filled with mung beans, ube or pork. Jenny’s, hands down, makes the best hopia anywhere in the Southbay! They’ve been around ever since I moved here(2001) & I’d often come in for their 50 cent hopia after school. Was I glad Carson Elementary is literally right next to it, after the Carson Library. I thought to myself, moving away from the homeland wasn’t so bad. Carson is literally filled with Filipinos too! No lie, it’s not even funny. I highly recommend Jenny’s. Pero hoy, don’t be mean to my lolo! Often times, an older man would greet you. He seems stubborn at first, but he’s really funny and sweet once you get to know him. A lady also helps us out and is nice. I noticed prices went up, but quality is still good. I normally order 6 monggo, 6 baboy(pork) just for the family. We order bigger quantity for occasions only like Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. They’re really good for gifts too. I’ve gotten cakes here before, maybe twice. It’s nothing special to me since other bakeries are more well-known for that. Of course, if you really want homemade cakes, then this is the place for you. They’re more traditional. I suggest going to Torrance Bakery for cakes. I’ve had the chicken empanadas too – they only have baked, no deep-fried chicken empanadas. They tend to be dry, it’s not my fave. I’d rather go to Red Ribbon for empanadas. Overall, hopia is their specialty. Go for it!

Jenny’s cakes never disappoints me. Anytime I’m in the area and need a cake for a family event, I always order from here. I’ve ordered a cake for the same day, and they’ve always executed to perfection. All of the ingredients are always extremely fresh.

How have I worked across the street for years and never known about this gem?! My employee brought in an egg custard pie and empanadas this afternoon from Jenny’s and. WOW! Best empanada I’ve ever had! It was so fresh and well-seasoned inside with a buttery, flakey crust. The egg custard pie is evenly creamy and just melts in your mouth. I love that the filling isn’t very sweet and yet the crust is slightly sweetened. Its just balanced to perfection! I will absolutely be back and can’t wait to try more.

This low key bakery have not disappointed. I’ve been coming here so many times and it’s time I share my 5 star review. My husband who’s super picky when it comes to food and not a big fan of Filipino food loves their mongo hopia he introduced me to it and I’ve tasted many good ones. Their hopia is by far the best I’ve tasted. My husband also introduced me to their mocha cake(his favorite) and it’s delicious, I also love their strawberry cake-not too sweet and has fresh strawberries as their filling. Today after seeing other peoples reviews, I got curious and tried their choco banana, I didn’t expect it to be good, it was delicious!

My parents came down from the Bay Area this past weekend so I took them to this place because they wanted to bring back hopia… we ended up coming 3 more times!!! This place is in a corner of a shopping complex in a busy area in Carson and you almost can’t see it if you don’t know what your looking for. Then when you walk inside it almost looks like it’s empty and outdated, we’ll let me tell you don’t judge a book by its cover. THISISTHEBESTHOPIAINTHEWORLD! All the flavors they have are good but my favorite is the baboy flavor. Holy crap it’s good. If you are looking for amazing hopia come here like we did and order 5 dozens.

Hands down. They have the best hopia in town. I swear. An old guy greeted us when my mom and I walked in. He told me to eat ampalaya.

If you’re Filipino, you know this place because A. You’ve eaten their amazing hopia, or B. You’ve eaten their cake at about every Filipino party in Carson. I must admit I was a little put off coming in to order the cake. The bakery is a total hole in the wall. There was several workers just sitting around or moving around stock. I wasn’t acknowledged at all. Finally I asked if I could talk to someone about ordering a cake. They called out a man’s name. He was older, very straight to the point and quick with taking my order which also made me a little apprehensive. Picking up the cake was a totally different experience. A nice petite Filipino lady greeted me right away, iced the message on the cake right in front of me and was very friendly and chatty. When we served the cake it was a success! The cake was very light, fluffy and moist. Very similar to the texture of Filipino sponge cake, mamon. The filling was very balanced and fresh with large chunks of mango in whipped cream. Tasted even better as leftover cake straight from the fridge. Their cake décor is pretty old school but the taste speaks for itself. If you need a no frill, light fruit filled cake for a party this place is a great spot.

I wish they had a menu up in their store so I can see what they offer. But all i know is that they have a ghetto paper taped up that says: Hopia Mongo, and Baboy… So I just bought those and I love it! They’re both soft and flaky, and have amazing texture. The Hopia Mongo was sweet(but not in the overwhelming way), and the Baboy is more savory, but still has a sweet taste that compliments it well… YUM AND I bought my VERYFIRST Chocolate Frozen Banana from here for $ 1 and I enjoyed every bite! I love supporting small local businesses. This place is definitely a low-key, hole in the wall gem

If you want Hopia get the Ube or Monggo this is the best place to buy it— it’s fresh and hot! I would definitely recommend to others!

This is the best cake I have ever had! I was in the fourth grade when my father first bought us this cake and 16 years later I am still buying their cakes. I now live in the Inland Empire and still drive all the way to Carson to get this cake. I was just there yesterday(5÷11÷13) and picked up a ½ sheet of the strawberry filling cake($ 48). It was delicious!!! Quality and taste has remained the same over the years. The cake is moist and spongy, the icing is not sugary sweet like most cakes and the strawberry filling is to die for. I have also tried half pineapple filling and half strawberry filling and it is just as good. I highly recommend you try their cakes!

I was in the Torrance area and heard from word of mouth this place has the best hopia ever. We decided to head down towards Little Manila(Carson) to check out Jenny’s just a few miles down from Torrance and across the street from the Seafood City Plaza in Carson. For those who don’t know hopia, it’s a round sweet bean cake covered in an unlevened dough. Southeast Asians and Chinese all have their own versions. So, we find Jenny’s located one corner of the plaza. Jenny’s is a hole in the wall bakery that makes cakes and Filipino pasteries. As we enter, we were a thinking we were in the wrong place since we were asking a Hispanic lady if they had any hopia left since the warmer where they keep the hopia was empty. We were thinking they were out, however, the lady walks towards the back and grabs a Filipina lady. It’s must be Jenny and she ask us what we were looking for. We asked if she had any hopia left and confirmed she did. So, we ordered 3 dozen since we trust our source. At $ 0.60 each, it’s a bargain compared to Goldilocks at $ 0.80 each. We also grabbed a adbobo peanuts which is roasted peanuts with garlic. Once we were outside, we hung out along the walkway that lead to back of the property. We opened up our boxes and devoured our damn good hopia and ignored the local drug dealer who wanted to sell us stuff! Lol. At that point, nothing mattered. Hopia was the highlight of the day. Not too sweet and moist unlike most that get hard. Even after a day or two, the hopia is like it was baked fresh. I’ll be visiting Tita Jenny soon again after my first time here when I’m in the neighborhood. By the way, the garlic peanuts were good too!

I remember my parents ordering my birthday cakes from here when I was a little girl! I don’t remember much else except that their hopia is out of this world amazing, especially while hot! Omg, I’m drooling! I think I might have to pay Jenny’s a little visit soon.

Oh Jenny’s… despite having a great bakery name, :P quality has definitely gone down. While still tasty and addicting, chicken empanadas are now $ 1.39 plus tax. Also, I’ve noticed they’re a bit hit-or-miss… some are packed with chicken and some taste like vegetarian empanadas.

Hopia Heaven! My favorite is the bean. This bakery specializes in making cakes, empanadas and hopia(50 cents a piece). The bakery is located in the far right corner when entering the plaza. I did get a little confused by the writing on the window. I thought it was a Mexican bakery and that I was at the wrong place. Overall, the bakery has limited items. Hopia is 5 stars. If you don’t know what hopia is. you probably wont like this place.
