While the interior may not be the most modern or updated library in the area, what is important that librarians being live human beings are so incredibly helpful and useful. Like most county libraries, you can order different items online and have it shipped to the branch closest to you. I’ve also attended a few talks here, and I was surprised at the nice turn-outs. Nice job.

Old school looking library. I mean it literally looks like a library from an old school, like the libraries of the K-12 schools I went to in the late 80s and 90s. Seems to have a decent selection of books though. Not much indoor seating, but there’s a long bench with six or seven seats and power outlets for laptop use in the back-left corner as you enter. Wifi doesn’t require a library card, but unlike Reno, you need a U/P to use it. They have it plastered all over the walls, though :) Lots more outdoor seating than indoor for some reason. Restroom is decent. Pretty good opening hours too, every day but Sunday, and open 10 hours midweek. More indoor seating would be nice, but I guess since it’s the only option in Carson, it’s good they got it mostly right.

This appears to be a large building built specifically to store books and other media. Everyone here is very serious, as they speak in hushed tones if at all. Although as serious as everyone else, one of the Keeper of the Tomes was very helpful in getting me a new access card, which one needs to… well… access the media.

I was very grateful this place was available and the librarians were very helpful to me and my husband. They directed him to the section with historical information and helped me get set up on a computer, plus answered questions as they arose. My frustration was I was trying to go fast in checking my email and eBay items and the mouse and mousepad were not working properly so when I moved the mouse the cursor either moved slow or not at all, making it difficult to work fast so as not to spend too much time that we could be out sight-seeing and enjoying the town. I did get done what I wanted but not without wanting to throw something in the process.

Pretty good library. I’ve noticed(well, it’s summer now — can’t speak for when school’s open, but…) that it’s pretty easy to find an available computer. They also have wireless access. New Hours as of June 10, 2008 Monday: 10am — 6pm Tue., Wed., Thu.: 10am — 8pm Friday: 12pm — 6pm Saturday: 10am — 4pm There’s only the one public library in this city.(plus the State Library).
