Usually if I want paper or other supplies I go to Wal-Mart, but Staples is the only place to get a decent laptop without either driving to Best Buy(we don’t have one in Carrollton) or ordering online. I got my current HP on Amazon, though. Basically, the staff always assumes you know nothing about computers. That’s insulting and irritating when you need a new computer, and it’s not always something that can wait. In 2014, many jobs and obviously students require computers, so if you need a new one, you usually need it very soon. Staples staff usually takes forever, because you have to show them the model you want, and they usually either have to find it in their stock, or they take five minutes to tell you that they don’t have it. Then they either say they can order that particular model or ask if there’s another one you want. The last time I went to buy one, they didn’t have any of the ones I wanted, and it definitely makes more sense to buy online rather than have Staples order one if you’re paying the same price as if they had it in the store. Buying other items is not always a pleasure either.

I never thought I will ever have to write a review for Staples, but here it goes: Staples is truly one of those stores that you can quickly pass by. For many of us, we do not do much business in a place like this. But, while cramming for a test, I realized I had to print about 60 pages worth of study materials and that is when Staples came to the rescue. I came, I printed, I was satisfied. The lady behind the counter, I do believe her name was Nikki(forgive me if it maybe wrong since I was drowning on school lessons that day)… Nikki completely amazed me at how helpful and was an absolute doll to us. I was freaking out, did not know what to do, but her very cheery and sympathetic ways toned down my high-strung moment of stress. She offered, with clear details, many different options as how I can deal with my problem. She then advised me of the ‘binding’ option Staples have for bigger number of print-outs like mine. She also offered us the Staples rewards program(although we told her it is not needed since we almost never swing by Staples anyway) and advised us that even if we do not need it in the future, it will help us save 10% of our current purchase. She was patient, kind, and an honest-to-god good natured person that I felt bad for throwing a tantrum. Most of the time, I know that someone is just doing the whole«sarcasm behind overly-done-kindness» psychology shennanigans, but she was truly trying to help. A simple day full of stress was alleviated due to one person’s act of kindness. If every employer, heck, if every person can be like her, then no one will ever have to deal with stress. From the bottom of my stressed-out-student heart: Thank you Nikki! I will definitely use Staples in the future for all my other school needs.
