Carrollton Family Vision Practice

My family and I used to use Walmart vision in Villa Rica when we moved to the area 5 years ago. It was then run by a husband and wife team that were very good. On my third year visit the business was now being run by someone else and the glasses I received were wrong in the right eye. It was supposed to be a 150 and was at 50. They refused to fix the obvious mistake so we went looking for a new OD. Health grades led us to Dr. McCrae at Carrollton family vision. My daughter and I visited first and my wife and brother a few months later.
Honestly I found the dr to be a little less than engaging. Not gruff or cranky, just a little quiet. But possibly we just caught him on a bad day. The front desk staff, of Ms Faith and her daughter, were helpful and extremely pleasant. I went for a contact exam and my daughter for new frames and lenses. I have worn glasses and contacts for thirty years, and not only was the exam extremely thorough, and the most accurate prescription I have ever received, but I was also pleasantly surprised by the price. I wear Toric lenses in my right eye and toric xr in my left which are hard to fit and much more expensive than plain or non stigmatism lenses, so I usually get my exam from the OD and then use my prescription to shop around online for the best price. To my surprise Ms. Faith gave me a price that beat anything I could find online by over twenty percent. She also makes reordering my contacts a breeze.
They also fixed the incorrect lens that Walmart had screwed up at a very minimal fee. My daughter also stated that her new glasses were the best fitting and visually accurate lenses that she had had in 7 years of wearing frames.
My wife and brother also both went a few months later and were soon singing the praises of how much better they were seeing. They both also commented on how friendly the front desk and Dr were, so I probably did just catch him on a bad day.
My only minuses would be the selection of frames on hand could be a bit larger and the wait time on Saturday appointments can be a bit lengthy, but when you depend on glasses as much as I do, I will absolutely overlook theses minor flaws to have the best vision I have had in years. A good example of this is that I usually only wear contacts for special occasions, like date night or formal pictures, and because of my extreme stigmatism, my previous contact prescriptions are usually just good enough so that I am not a danger to myself. With Dr. McCrae’s prescription I can comfortably wear them all day and tested at 20 – 10 vision. The man knows what he is doing and is extremely thorough.
If you want a serious OD and better vision, I highly, highly recommend Carrollton Family Vision.

I will never, ever go to that eye doctor again. They were seriously understaffed and we had to wait forever. They had one woman working up front and one doctor. I took my daughter, who was 9 at the time. The doctor was gruff with her. When we went back to pick up her glasses once they FINALLY arrived, the woman did not even bother to clean the glasses for us. They had something all over the lenses and her solution was to tell me to clean them with dish washing liquid. She did not adjust my daughters glasses very well at all. I do not recommend these people if you want good service.
