If there was a contest for the following — Burger-Bar would smash the competition and win all of these awards. 1) best quality sandwich and hamburger establishment under $ 4 average price, 2) best place period to eat in a town of 4,000 people or less. 3) best combo hamburger/ice cream shop in the mid west. For example our family of four had cheeseburgers, double cheeseburgers, appetizers, and ice cream, total bill $ 30, and it was one of the best cheeseburgers I have had in a long long time. If you are in the area, no need to think about anything else for a quick bite.

This is in my opinion the best place to eat in Carrollton. Burger bar reminds me of my youth including getting ice cream at Dari maid after the little league season. I’ve never been here that the food wasn’t stellar. It’s not just«good for Carrollton» it’s legit good! I will miss it as I moved to Georgia a year ago!

I don’t know when you’d ever find yourself out here in Carrolton, MO, but if you do be sure to stop by the Burger Bar and Dairy Maid. This is good olé’ pre-McDonald’s fast food at 20th century prices — you can get a hamburger for under $ 2! FYI, the«beef burger» has a sloppy-joe meat consistency, so go for a standard hamburger or cheeseburger if you prefer a firmer patty texture. The curly fries are crunchy and flavorful. The deep fried pepperjack cheese balls are teeny tiny, delicious heart attack bombs(and yes, this means you should try them). And what better way to end your meal than with a dipped soft serve cone? In a time when there are McD’s and Burger Kings on every street corner serving soggy fries and rubbery McNuggets at surprisingly high prices, I appreciate places like the Burger-Bar even more. It’s just good, down-to-earth fast food.

I was taken to the Burger Bar/Dairy Maid by a pal who grew up in Waverly. He recalled it from Sunday afternoon trips with the family so he wished to relive his childhood a bit. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I was rather happy. Since that first venture, they have combined the two(Burger Bar and Dairy Maid) into one building, for better or worse, depending on you perspective. The Better: Very clean and a nice seating area. No more lines with people smoking while waiting for ice cream. There is still an external walk up window for your ice cream, takes me back to being a kid myself. They have a restroom, but it is unisex… The same: The food, if you liked it before you are still fine. The ice cream is still the best around. Prices didn’t change much. The Worse: They now only have Coke Products(a positive for some I guess). Ice cream creations are now lacking with the new building. Overall, you can get a pretty good meal for $ 5 – 8. Price isn’t a problem and a double cheese burger is pretty dang fine. The sides of a combo are a bit odd, you always get more fries than tater tots. Just seems odd but it is true. My pal got the Mucho Nachos(I believe they were called) and he said meh. I had a couple and they were okay. The pork tenderloin was a bit bland but not bad by any means. Locals seem to swear by the beef burger, looks a bit like sloppy joes on a bun. Not my thing but appears to be popular. Overall, more than worth your money and the décor(old licenses plates on the wall) is quite present. Just save some room for ice cream, it is great!

This hidden gem in Carrollton is great place to eat if you like burgers, fries, and tenderloin sandwiches. This is also a Dairy Bar, which is a Missouri small town specialty. I was tipped off to this place by a patient and after talking about how good the tenderloin sandwich was. I had to have one for lunch. I was not disappointed. The tenderloin extended beyond the bun at least an inch and it wasn’t one of those little buns, but a big bun. There were options on the fries too, crinkle(my favorite), or curly fries or tots. I will eat here again. The dining room was clean, it was comfortable to sit at a booth since they are made for bigger people, and the restroom(unisex) was clean. So grateful to find a decent place to eat on my travel route.

OK, I will admit I grew up here and spent the first 18 years of my life going to the«Booger» Bar and Dairy Maid. I honestly can’t speak for the Burger Bar as I haven’t been there since about 1975 but the Dairy Maid is a true slice of Americana with GREAT soft serve Ice Cream in all forms from classics like Malts(BESTEVER) to Root Bear Floats to Dip Cones. Also, on Friday & Saturday nights this place is THE place in town for cruisin’ Especially Saturday. Good place to meet before making the loop to Carrollton High, then up to Main to the Square then back to the Maid.
