Reluctantly stopped here after reading negative reviews because the shop down the road is closed on Tuesday. All I needed was a simple bearing adjustment on a single speed rear hub(would do it myself but I don’t own the required thin wrench). The owner? Was wrenching on a bike in back and didn’t even address my presence till I walked back to him. He was an angry old man who inquired if I wanted to purchase the wrench or have him do it. I said I would prefer he do it, at which point he stated to explain that it’s rather involved and acted as if I was bothering him! Agh, so frustrating that rude people like this remain in business. My mother owned a shop for 20 years and never treated anyone like this. I’ll never return here and suggest that you avoid it also!!!

I had an awful experience at this store. My electric bicycle had low tire pressure, so I had brought it in and asked to use the pump. The man at the store insisted that I had a leak in my inner tube, and offered to replace it, saying that it would be five minutes. I came back fifteen minutes later to find that he had taken the wheel off and was unable to put the wheel back on. Instead of apologizing, he began telling me off for buying an electric bicycle and complaining that they were too hard to fix. I had come into the store with a perfectly working bicycle and now I had a useless collection of parts, the last thing I needed was attitude from the storekeeper. In the end, he managed to fit the wheel back on sans brakes, and I had to ride home slowly, holding the brake so that it wouldn’t get caught in the wheel. TL;DR mechanic offered unnecessary repairs, broke the bicycle while performing them, then gave me attitude like it was my fault. He graciously offered not to charge me $ 16 for a new inner tube though, so that’s a plus /s

The chain fell off the rented bike before I even left the shop. I said I wanted a different bike. They only had upgrades and wanted to charge me extra for it. Then the raised seat kept caving in. Eventually gave up and cancelled the transaction. Plus helmets were filthy.

Unbelievably rude service… Lady at the front desk from the moment we walked in in for simple brake adjustment was horribly rude. 1st thing out of her mouth(because we said it was a brand new bike) was«take it back to where you bought it» and she continued her rudeness after that. So sad to encounter people like this in this world. I finally told my boyfriend lets go. There are other bike shops in the area who’d be happy to help a customer.. I would never step foot in this place again much less purchase anything from them. Shame on you rude lady you know who you are. Agree with another reviewer … Less than personality of a door knob, personality of a door mat!

My wife and I had been shopping for a quality tandem bike all across the country, stopping at every bike shop we passed from VA to CA with no luck. Finally a bike shop in Solvang, CA recommended we go to Rincon Cycles in Carpenteria. We were not disappointed. The owner Dennis Coffman was a true expert on Tandems, had a half dozen in stock and helped us test ride them all, answered all our questions patiently and expertly and we were happy to leave with a new KHS which we are very happy with. Dennis was understaffed and busy the Saturday we were shopping but gave us all the attention and time that was needed.

Loved shopping at Rincon Cycles! We have rented there before, we love the home town bike shop thing. We finally decided to get our own bikes. Dennis is very knowledgeable and got us on the right bikes! We ride them every weekend, sometimes evenings in the summer too! Excellent prices!

Dennis– the owner of the shop is friendly, very knowledgeable and helpful. I’m a fan of Bike Friday’s folding bicycles and Rincon Cycles is one of the few dealers in the country.

A great privately owned shop! If my bike needs anything and I’m going to be in town I give Rincon Cycles my business rather than the scammers on ebay or chain shops in LA. I first visited for a spare tube and got some very rare expert advice on saddles and a map of local trails to ride. I’ve found Dennis to be incredibly generous and helpful. A modest staff though, so of course we must be patient if it gets busy there. What a local bike shop should be.

I visited Rincon Cycles twice in the last month on a weekday and on a Saturday. GOOD — Nice selection of bikes and accessories at a convenient location in Carpinteria. Their signs say they rent bicycles and it appears they do repairs onsite. BAD — The customer service was not great. I wandered around the first time and finally had to ask for assistance. The second time, there were a few other customers in the store, and again only the customers that asked for help were offered any. One of the reps stood around chit chatting while customers stood waiting for help. Once I had help, the sales rep was helpful with purchasing a helmet for my son and relatively friendly. He also was able to find the training wheels we needed for his bicycle, although it would have been nice if they offered to see if they would fit the bike, since we had brought the bike into the store, rather than saying«take them home and if they don’t fit bring them back». The main reason for my visit, was looking to buy two bikes and based on my experience, I decided to look for another shop even though this one is the most convenient to my home. I ended up buying two bikes from another shop where I was greeted on arrival and I felt my business was appreciated.
