This review is for the(five star) turkey sandwich which is the only one we ever get. The turkey is cooked at the deli so if you like real turkey(not packaged) this is the place to go. We always get the sourdough bread but it isn’t really much of a sourdough taste and not wimpy like regular white bread, also a nice texture. We add mayo and swiss cheese, no mustard, and let them add the rest of the ingredients. We always think of how we can include this rare treat when we drive the #101. Took one star off because the guys who handle the money also make the sandwiches but we aren’t going to let that keep us away from this five star treat for $ 7.99.

Not good at all. The tri tip sandwich was made cold then microwaved, now the bun is chewy and very little meat. The employee making the sandwiches was very kind and polite

Love this place, I work in the area on Tuesdays so I make a point to eat here. Reasonable prices and excellent food from fresh local vendors. Nothing fancy just good food.

Get your car washed and enjoy the best turkey cranberry sandwich around while they make your car shine… delicious tri-tip sandwich too! They do a good job and good customer service! Tables outside are nice in Carpinteria’s mild climate! Try it you’ll like it!

Well, as I was driving up the main drag in Carpinteria, I needed lunch, It was after 3:00PM and lunch was long over due! So what to do, when I spy Danny’s Deli, Bait & Tackle, and Car Wash? The sign says famous tri-tip sandwiches. I say with a business name like that and some good reviews I stop and check it out. There is on simple deli case and a menu up on the wall. The first column is about car washes and detailing and the next two columns are about sandwiches and the possibilities. To the left is a small room with all the fishing gear. So I order the basic tri-tip sandwich. The young man making the sandwich was quite nice and engaging, as he made my sandwich. Well it was a simple roll with way to little tri-tip and a dash of sauce, lettuce and tomato. The people who call this fabulous, have not eaten tri-tip sandwiches in Santa Maria(home of the tri-tip cut), or San Luis Obispo. I guess next time I would order double meat to make it come out like a standard sandwich from other locations. Oh well, life on the road means encounters of all kinds.

This is just a review for the deli part of the shop. I have not bought bait or tackle or gotten my car washed here so I can’t comment on those services. Okay! This sandwich place is awesome. The guy’s who make the sandwiches are friendly and they put lots of meat /veggies on your sandwich plus you can alter your sandwich and they’ve always gotten it right for me. It gets a little busy around lunch time but you can call ahead and then just pick your order up, so you don’t have to wait outside. The bread and rolls are always fresh and soft. The italian sub, pastrami sandwich, tri-tip, pulled pork are all bomb. I’ve only tried those four so far because they are so damn tasty, I don’t want to get anything else. Sandwiches range from $ 6-$ 9 but they are FILLING(I’m looking at you, other popular sandwich place which I am ALWAYS hungry after). Minimum order with credit card is $ 10 or there is a transaction fee of $.35 on the card so if you don’t plan on getting chips and drink, bring cash.

This is the only place I will ever take my car to get washed you will spend as much money as you would anywhere else and they practically detail it for you! I will admit they take a little longer than most places but you need to try their sandwiches while you wait super great!!!

Unilocaled and we found this super random place. I liked the veggie sandwich loaded with good veggies. Kids had the tri tip cooked on the patio right there!

I loved the tri-tip sandwich… A Carpinteria staple for sure. The soft, warm roll puts it over the top

Get a car wash, have a killer sandwich AND pick up some bait while you’re at it? Awesome! Danny’s covers all bases… First: The Car Wash. I can’t say enough good things. I have taken three of my vehicles in there multiple times. I have a Sportsmobile caming van, which is very tricky to wash and doesn’t always fit in every car wash. Danny’s does an incredible job, even vacumming the inside thoroughly and detailing the extra areas that aren’t in normal cars(like counter tops, sofas, etc). I also have a Toyota tundra and a Subaru, and they have always done super good washes. The other day I was there, and a friend asked me afterwards if my truck had been detailed. I live in Carp part-time, and I always try to get my car washed when I’m there. Second: The Sandwiches. Not really sure I should have them rated behind the car wash, as the Sandwiches are SO super good. Lots of people talk about their tri tip, and it’s great. BUT if you haven’t tried the pulled pork, DOIT! There are two styles — one BBQ and the other with no sauce, but cheese and a green chili. I prefer the chili one. I’m also a self proclaimed deli sandwich connoseiur, so I love a good ol’ traditional sub sandwich with lots of toppings, meats and cheeses. I’ve had the pastrami, ham and cheese, salami — all done really well. Third: The bait. Ok, I admit I haven’t really bought bait because I don’t fish. But if I did, Danny’s all the way! Danny’s is no frills, and some people have complained about the bathrooms, or the funky astro turf. But I say, it’s the perfect spot for lunch and a car wash, and I don’t expect anything more or less from it.

Car wash, deli, and bait & tackle store: a weird combination of services in the little coastal town of Carpinteria, but these sandwiches are definitely worth a visit! I got their famous BBQ tri tip and loved it. The bread was really soft, the BBQ was deliciously sweet and the meat was delicious. My girlfriend got the veggie sandwich and said the ingredients were very well proportioned. A great spot for a good sandwich.

Best tri-tip sandwiches EVER!!! Been coming here close to thirty years I’m guessing! Heck, I remember pettin’ ok’ Fred back in the day.(You can find some pictures of him on the, walls inside. Plus, you can get your car washed(or do it yourself) while you grub down on a tri-tip sandwich, Turkey sandwich, pulled pork and standard deli meats as well. But if you don’t try the tri-tip, you’re a communist and you hate yourself and your country! I hope in 30 years I’ll be able to take MY grandkids here… for now, I’ll be bringing my little girl here for at least the next 17 years! Love, love, love Danny’s!!!

Second time here… They did a so so job on my lifted truck but I brought my BMW today and they did a great job. Tried the tri tip sandwich and holy cow… Delicious. The car wash is a bit pricey but the staff is really friendly and when it’s nice outside they have tables to sit at and wait or eat your sandwich with a nice umbrella overhead over all 2 tri tip sandwiches, 2 snapples & a carwash $ 48 thank you guys

Amazing place — somehow they are great at cheap car washes and… sandwiches! Perhaps its a weird combo, but everyone has to eat and I like my car to be clean :) My favorite thing to get there is their chicken salad sandwich, but they also have great tri-tip if that is your thing!

How can an establishment be proficient in three completely different trades? It’s like that movie renaissance man with Danny devito that I only saw a preview of when I watched Major Payne with Mr Wayans last Monday. Speaking of the letter P, I got the pulled pork and it was terrific. My friend got the tri tip and was impressed. He said wow at least twice.

The food is not good, especially their ¼th inch thick meat on their tri-tip sandwich. The server touched money and then went right back to making my sandwich without washing her hands, then was offended when I asked her to wash her hands and make me a new sandwich. The car wash manager gets ONESTAR out of 5 for customer service. They damaged my month old car and refused to admit they did it, saying I had no proof. I pointed out that they had no proof they did not do the damage, especially since they were the only ones that have ever washed my car. Sadly, I will not return and will go to SB to have my car washed. Better customer service could have saved this relationship and prevented this poor review.
