Chariot of the Dog

I took my dog here for the first time about 9 months ago. I usually like to wait before doing a review of any sort. While first impressions are important, consistency is also key in my book. I have to say, I am very impressed with both the service and the cut. The owner really knows what he is doing and you can tell, is fond of all the animals he works with. My dog was a shelter dog, scared of men and especially sensitive when being touched around the head or neck area. The owner does all of the work himself, and he was great with my dog. He actually suggested I take my dog to a vet (I had moved from a different area and my dog had only had his post adoption visit done) to have him checked out because he seemed older than what I had told him. Sure enough, he was right, my 7 – 9 year old toy poodle/​maltese mix was in fact closer to 11 – 12 years old. When I took my dog back the second time, it was a last minute Saturday appointment and he squeezed him into his schedule. I was so appreciative of this. I could go on for days about how wonderful the owner/​groomer and this place is, but you really should try it out yourself!

My little Mal-​shi usually comes home from the groomers trembling and moping that can last for days, but not with this place. She was excited when we picked her up and seems fine after getting home.
I called for a last minute appointment and the Groomer was able to get her in right away. I loved that pick-​up and drop off was only about 3 hours (I don’t like the idea of my dog being held in a crate for too long)
The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because this was only my first visit, and I have yet to find out if I will have a great 2^nd visit, but I will update my review at that time. I can tell you that I’m already referring others to this groomer!

Before we started going to Tail’s– A-​Waggin’ (Which don’t waste your money!) we were using this place for our primary groomer. I live in Bartlett so you can imagine the drive with 5 dogs running around your car.
I’m not giving them 2 stars based on their hair cuts I’m basing it on the way the handled my dogs. When I would hand one dog at a time to the groomer, they were scared and tried to fight going with him and he would choke and drag my dogs into the back where they kept the cages and literally push them inside and slam the door. I asked the groomer nicely not to handle my dogs so ruff because they aren’t use to that and he just rolled his eyes and sarcastically took the leashes nicely and pretended to gently pull my dogs into the back. I was very relunctant on leaving my dogs with him because of what I just witnessed but I would be able to tell once I picked them up if there was anything wrong with them. I would drop them off at 6AM and not be able to get them until 6PM. little ridiculous. but they were always cut so beautifully.
I just wish he would have handled my dogs a little better, because we might still be going to him if that were the case.

This is the only place that I trust my dog with. The owner is always there and does the grooming himself. My veterinarian recommended him to us (she brings her dogs to him) and he has not disappointed. He is very professional and helpful!
