Just ordered catering on the Saturday before Father’s Day and wanted to say what a pleasure it was!!! The food was warm and very good! The service when we picked up our order was amazing! They made sure to go over the order at least 3 times before we left! Just an all around great catering service! Kudos gentlemen!!!

Honey hot wings are amazing! Sometimes you have to wait a while for the food but only because everything is done freshly it’s not frozen. Great customer service!

I keep hearing about crispy chicken at Browns but every time I’ve tried it it’s been lukewarm and flaccid… Service both times I stopped in was on the poor side of acceptable for fast food restaurants. …the Geneva location had better service but the same terrible food… I can get past the service, but I can’t figure out how these guys stay in business when it’s such bad food. Seriously, just in this immediate area there’s Krispy Krunchy Chicken, Popeye’s, Culvers, and *KFC that all do fast food chicken better.(In KFC ‘s case it’s barely better but at least good enough in a pinch) … if you want fried chicken and don’t want fast food there’s Dell Rhea’s Chicken Basket and a dozen other chicken places that do great chicken…

Not on the menu, but they have a $ 3.99 meal with 10 nuggz n a side. really a good quick lunch option. Good to have options, like macNchz, mashed potato, cheeseNbroccoli, rice, n more. Bunch of sauce options. The quality of the chicken is way above McDz or BK or any fast food.

I’m presently having lunch at this Browns now. The coating is not Browns chicken coating so how can this be a Browns chicken? Maybe they ran out? The tables are filthy, no one in the past ½ hour has come to clean them. It seems this place has changed owners. I won’t be coming back.

It makes me laugh when people with a healthy sense of self-entitlement get all huffy and give bad one star reviews for mildly bruised egos or minor inconveniences from minimum wage service workers. Why get pissed off when $ 20 feeds 4 semi-piggy people? Relax! Anyway, Brown’s Chicken is a Chicagoland based chain that hasn’t had much traction outside of the area, perhaps b/c of some bad press years ago related to an incident at another location involving murderous psychopaths that eluded justice for a decade(«Brown’s Chicken Massacre» in Wikipedia if you’re morbidly curious). It’s really too bad, because it tastes better than a lot of other fried chicken from chains I’ve tried around the USA. Brown’s uses a recipe of a buttermilk coating fried in a neutral tasting cottonseed oil, which makes for super crunchy and less greasy chicken coming out when it’s freshly made. It’s fast food, so make sure to wait for the freshly cooked stuff and you won’t be disappointed by soggy chicken that’s been sitting around in its own grease under a heating element. It’s a regional chicken style and Brown’s will even sell leftover chicken by the box at a big discount for less picky folks that want to save some dough. I find the non-chicken items standard fare and rather unremarkable except for the tasty fried mushrooms, but others seem to like them. Brown’s does a hefty catering business and seeing boxes of Brown’s chicken, pasta and sides at events was a common sight growing up in Chicago. «Brown’s Chicken, it tastes better!» If you grew up watching TV around here, you just sang the theme in the same way the commercials did(yes, you sure did, just admit it). It’s one of those local Chicago things that people familiar with it – even the out-of-state traveling gourmet types or the unreasonable one-star Unilocal reviewer types – will go back to time and again, b/c it’s kinda always been around tempting us in the background. Check it out, why not.

Glad I didn’t read the reviews otherwise I wouldn’t have stopped by. Ordered through the drive thru, chicken parm sandwich and onion rings. Both were super delicious and the best rings I have had in Illinois!

This is by far the best chicken restaurant in the Chicago land area. This place is head & heels above Kentucky Fried Chicken & Popeye’s. This place has more of a home cooked feel to it. This particular location is a lot bigger than some of the other Brown’s Chicken I have been to. This one has a very big dining room. Most of the other Brown’s Chicken locations are mostly for catering or take out & they have only a few seats inside to sit down & eat. This one has a lot of seats to sit down & eat. Their meal combos make it a good option to come to for lunch. The chicken here especially the chicken sandwich is some of the best & tastiest chicken around. Probably the one thing that makes this place stand out from other fast food chicken restaurants is their sides. Their golden brown mushrooms are delicious. Some of the other sides that are just as delicious are their macaroni & cheese, their biscuits & their mashed potatoes & gravy. If you’re not looking for chicken they also have some good seafood options. They have three different seafood meals but the catfish or the butterfly shrimp was the tastiest. Overall the location is convenient & the food is tasty. I would definitely eat here again if I was in the area.

Came in on Friday to get a beef n sausage combo and they forgot the sausage. They made it up by giving me a free meal today with fries and a drink. Food was great and these guys are awesome !

Horrible, horrible service! Because there are no Brown’s Chicken restaurants near me, I just drove a half hour to go to this place, and left without chicken(which is probably good considering the rest of the reviews.) I remember enjoying Brown’s Chicken as a child, but this restaurant does not come close to my memories. I pulled up to the drive-thru and was immediately greeted with a mumbling«just a minute.» Well, that«minute» turned into 20 minutes(not exaggerating) without a single comment or check-in. I finally drove up to the window, and was again ignored. We went inside, and once again, were ignored by the staff. No comments to anyone-there were four other customers there-until they finally turned to one man and said, «We don’t have any chicken. It will be at least 20 minutes.» No chicken?! I drove a half-hour, waited 20 minutes, and was treated disrespectfully to go to a place where they didn’t have the actual product that is the name of their business? They did not even respond when I left, probably are quite used to seeing this I suppose. So glad that I didn’t order or pay anything. Don’t waste your time or money, at least not at this location. I know that I will never being going back.

Breaks my heart that I see a fried chicken place with less than 3 stars. Simply because I love fried chicken. But anyway, went here randomly for lunch because I got a coupon in the mail and wanted to switch up the normal routine. My dad and I split an 8 piece chicken for like 8 bucks I think. I added on cheesey mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and onion rings. Total was about 15 bucks. Chicken was great. Skin was delicious and you can see the juices ooze out of the chicken. The coleslaw was alright. The onion rings were eh but I wasn’t expecting much going in with those. Was a little disappointed with the cheesey mashed potatoes though, probably should have went with normal gravy. This place is fine I suppose, a little scary looking but the staff is pretty friendly. And they have free sauce too if you ask.

I have only been to this place once and asked for something simple. I asked for one thing and that was fried okra. Since when does fried okra mean fried mushrooms?. They gave me fried mushrooms when I asked for okra so I don’t see how you could mess that up. First experience and this browns chicken and it will be the last.

This place gets five stars solely based on my childhood love of browns chicken. I remember my grandma getting the cold chicken when I was younger and having it waiting when we came to visit. The corn fritters are amazing, especially with powdered sugar. The chicken is a really good deal, especially if you get it cold.

Good Food(OVERALL). However — VERY, VERYEXPENSIVE. We went for take-out on a Sunday afternoon and we were the only patrons in the place. On our way home, we actually felt like we had been ‘robbed without a gun’, we joked in the car about how we felt violated and how we could have spent between $ 25-$ 30LESS just about anywhere else(Rosati’s, KFC, etc.) and gotten about the same amount of food. Had we known ahead of time about the prices, we would have never come here. We spent over $ 50 for what amounted to a few boxes of chicken, 4 «sides», and 6 bisquits(bisquits do NOT count as sides and are .79 a piece). I also bought an Italian Beef(separate) which was over $ 5. The beef was good, but I’ve had better and much larger for the same price range. — Chicken = GOOD. 4 out of 5 — Mashed Potatoes = GOOD. 4 out of 5 — Gravy — GOOD. — Mac & Cheese = Flavorless — I’ve had better at hospitals. 1 out of 5. No flavor, literally tasted like cardboard. — Mostaciolli = GOOD. 4 out of 5. — Bisquits = OKAY. 3 out of 5. Just okay. KFC’s are much better and fluffier. — Italian Beef = GOOD. 4 out of 5. Just could have been larger. Overall — VERYEXPENSIVE. The food was good, but we would not return, unless there was some kind of special coupons. It is a shame because for decades, Brown’s chicken was a staple place and my Italian grandmother(who died years ago) would RAVE about Brown’s Chicken.

i am not a picky person. what i write sounds like i am complaining, but i really am not complaining, just letting you know how i feel. been here multiple times, the place needs a makeover, like 50 years ago. maybe 50 years ago browns would have caught up with the makeover times. what i like: biscuits, shrimp, broccoli and cheese, fish. i don’t eat meat.

As most have said, this place in fantastically greasy. The fried chicken is actually chewy, which is weird, to say the least. My parents always used to order Brown’s, and I was never really a fan. The best part for me was the mac and cheese. The fried mushrooms are also good. I know they changed up the menu a few years ago to include things like burgers, dogs, and beefs, but it’s still nothing special. Another thing about this place: service is just not very good. I don’t know how they are in business, because it takes them forever to complete a simple order. Maybe the catering is keeping them is business… IDK. There are much better options in the area, in my opinion.

II have been eating and loving Brown’s since the 1960“s. First experience was a place actually run by Frank Portillo in a strip mall on North Ave., in Villa Park. They were only open from 4 – 9 and all orders were made fresh(you called ahead). It seems like the company started to decline when the went to the pre-made concept. Hard to keep chicken hot and fresh for long. Some of their locations are still good(Oak Lawn for example) but this location has continued to deteriorate. Yesterday afternoon my wife stopped to buy some chicken for dinner. Since it would have to be re-heated anyway, she bought and 8 piece box, assuming it was a whole chikcen for 2 adults and 2 kids. When we got it home we discovered it contained 1 breast, 1thigh, 1 leg and 4 wings. After we ate our chicken we ordered a pizza.

Yikes. I’m definitely going to send them the bill for my bypass surgery, because this was the greasiest fried chicken I’ve ever encountered. My arteries are aching just from reminiscing about my meal. I feel like this is the kind of place Dr. Nick Riviera would have told Homer to go to in the episode where Homer was trying to gain enough weight to get on disability: Dr. Nick: «be creative. Instead of making sandwiches with bread, use pop tarts. Instead of chewing gum, chew bacon…» Bart: «You could brush your teeth with milkshakes!» Dr. Nick: «Hey, did you go to Hollywood Upstairs Medical College, too? …And remember, if you’re not sure about something, rub it against a piece of paper. If the paper turns clear, it’s your window to weight gain.» This place would have me wearing a moo moo in no time. No thanks.

I’ve been a Brown’s Chicken fan for years. Many have closed in recent years so when I am driving by one, I will usually stop because I don’t get to eat Brown’s very often. Our order was taken and filled promptly. The corn fritters were huge and delicious. The biscuits were delicious. My son said the chicken tenders were just ok. To me, they looked a little under cooked because they were not a golden brown. I purchased but have not yet eaten their dutch apple pie. It is half price, only $ 2.50, on Sundays. It is made by another company, not Brown’s. The restaurant was clean and properly staffed to handle both the drive through and walk-in orders.

Browns’ Chicken;Nothing more, nothing less. Greasy fried chicken, okay sides, and a few years back when they launched their«Chicago» items(hot dog, Italian beef), I was intrigued, but it just isn’t anything special. I think they stay in business because they cater. This place contributed to my childhood obesity as well through biscuits(OHBUTTER), fried mushroom, macaroni and cheese, plus the greasy chicken. Wow it is greasy! Again, not sure how they are in business. I’d rather go to Smokehouse for a Gyros Plate or burger. Not a fan of fried chicken anymore… especially if its this greasy!
