We stayed here recently while traveling back from NC. Our second stay actually, both equally disappointing. I always seek out the HI Express hotels as they are typically good but this one is one to avoid. The room was clean but old and dingy. However, the biggest reason why I won’t stay here again and don’t recommend it– even though rooms say non-smoking they smell badly of smoke.

My husband and our 15 year old and I had a very good experience here, where we spent one night unexpectedly after our car broke down near Exit 1 on the Jersey Turnpike. Clean, with comfortable beds, a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in the room. Very nice lobby/lounge area, with a free continental breakfast that I’d describe as better than average, with muffins, bread, english muffins(and a toaster); Kellogg’s cereals, fruit, cinnamon buns, some pork sausage patties, egg & cheese fold overs(in the hot food bins), a pancake batter dispenser(which we did not try), as well as yogurt and the usual coffee/tea service. Very conveniently located off 295 and near the Delaware Memorial Bridge, and very affordable. We all slept well in the Queen size beds. Nice staff. Highly recommended, especially for the price point, which was $ 112 for the queen double room.

Staff was very nice and the breakfast was basic but the area was clean/well taken care of. The room however, yikes. The bathroom only flushed sometimes. There were random hairs strewn about the floor, towels, bathroom sink. Nothing had been dusted or wiped down in a while. The carpet looked like it hadn’t been changed in many many years. I guess you can’t expect much from a hotel right off the turnpike. Lesson learned. We didn’t bother complaining because we were so tired when we checked in so can’t speak to how they would have handled the situation.

The greeter didn’t have a smile or personality, it seemed like we were a nuisance to her. She also was unable to handle splitting the pre-booked room bill upon check in with my friend who had her own room. In addition, the owner is not women friendly maybe it’s a cultural thing but we will not be staying there ever again and it could have been a yearly occurrence.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise. While traveling unexpectedly I ended up getting tired at this location and thought it would be some flea bag hotel. Woke up to a great breakfast buffet. Super room. Professional staff.

Don’t judge this hotel by its location. It’s clean, comfortable and quiet. Best of all, each member of the staff visibly takes great pride in this hotel — something that’s sorely lacking in a majority of the hotels I visit.

Friendly, comfortable, friendly staff, & dog friendly. Decent– nothing fancy. Rooms, bed, & bath were fine. Stayed here due to moving across country with family & had to bring pets along to hotel too. Pet Friendly. What you would expect with a standard HI express– standard eggs & breakfast bar in morning.

Extremely efficient, comfortable and pleasant hotel that is also dog friendly. I will definitely stay there again.

Stayed here twice in eight days(June 27 and July 5, 2014). First night’s room(approximately $ 125 excluding tax) on the third floor had a disconcerting amount of dust and grime on the night table, lamp and radio. Not good. Bathroom door stuck. Second night’s stay(approximately $ 105) on the second floor was problem free. Why we got free water the first stay and were charged for it on the second, who can say? I can’t figure out why hotel management would build any ill will when the out-of-pocket, wholesale cost is probably 30 cents. Both nights were quiet. Very conveniently located for drives further south and/or visits to Cowtown. The Holiday Inn Express revamp has gone well, and it’s now exactly comparable to similar Hilton properties at the same price point.

I find this holiday inn express meets with my expectation for a great nights rest. The lobby is very cozy with a fireplace and some comfy couches. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast has a good assortment choices and is always well stocked. The staff that takes care of the breakfast area always offered a welcoming good morning. The rooms have flat screen TVs, frig, and microwave.

Unfortunately, this was just an average experience. I have been staying at Holiday Inn Express hotels recently because of the chain-wide revamp that was done. Almost all of the HI Express locations I’ve stayed in have been very nice, and seemed new. I think this location was left out. Don’t get me wrong, there wasn’t anything bad with this hotel, there just wasn’t anything great. The hotel is right off the highway, amidst a bunch of truck stops. The exterior looks like any other Holiday Inn. Inside, the lobby looks like it has been recently renovated. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The room was just OK. It was clean, some of the furniture was new, and there was a large flat-screen TV. There were some patched up holes in the ceiling, and the room looked a little old. The beds were alright, but the bedding seemed old and worn. This hotel could benefit from some new bedding, and bath towels(one of them had orange stains on it… not sure what it was). The air-conditioner turned off and on randomly during the night, which mildly disturbed sleeping. We attemped to eat breakfast in the morning, but all of the tables were full. They need to expand their breakfast area. The breakfast was decent, although some of the items were empty, and the orange juice machine was just dispensing water. This hotel could use some renewing, because it currently feels outdated and is definitely not up to par with the rest of the HI Express locations. If in the area, I would stay at the Wilmington-Newark location.

Very nice place at the end of the NJ Turnpike. More truck stops within a one mile radius than I have ever seen before, but still very nice. The billion dollar worldwide brand upgrade did Holiday Inn very nice. Offsite gym facilities that cater to drivers, but still worth it.

This is your basic hotel to get a good night’s rest. Don’t expect any frills here. It is close to the highway and just across the Delaware Memorial Bridge. This is way better than some of the other hotels in the area, not to mention any names. This hotel is a-ok in my book.

Imagine, it’s November and temperatures are in the low 30’s. You and your Mom are driving on the NJ Turnpike with few cars on the road in the darkness known as 9 pm. A warning light about Coolant appears on your dashboard. You know you are out of time. Of the options nearby, I select HIE. In the last few years they re-branded and renovated their properties. This location is no different. We were able to secure a decent AAA rate and obtain two queen beds, clean sheets, and what we needed to sleep until we were to look for a mechanic the next day — a Sunday. The tv is a flat screen and bigger than mine at home. Beds were comfortable. Clean restrooms with quality products. The microwave and refrigerator in room are great for travelers. The free breakfast the next morning was fine though if you have time, I recommend going elsewhere. Nicole worked the front desk and was very helpful in writing names of local mechanics and in checking us in. All in all, good experience and would recommend.
