Deli was very understaffed, with 2 people: one new person and one that wasn’t very friendly. Took about 15 – 20 minutes for 2 very simple sandwiches. The Starbucks was not very helpful either. Had a coupon, but kept being told, «I don’t know how to use this,» by a very unprepared employee. Took 10 minutes to get one chai tea latte. However, we got through the line at the cash register very fast, which was a plus. Overall, needs better customer service and more staff members! Hopefully it’s not like this regularly!

Not only does this Safeway carry beer, wine, AND liquor,* but their club card gets you shockingly good deals on said booze. $ 10 off a decent $ 30 bottle of prosecco? A bottle of Bulleit for $ 20(marked down from $ 32)?! I don’t understand, but I will enjoy. We ended up buying enough booze that(1) my credit card company flagged the purchase(too many groceries out of state is an issue, apparently), and(2) we were forced to drink Belgian beer at 7 am prior to our flight back to NYC. Oh, and they also have all the fruit, vegetables, bread, cheese, proteins, condiments, etc. that you need to cook… anything, really. I was pretty angry that they didn’t have shallots until I realized that they do have shallots, I’m just bad at finding them. ______________ *Is it only our stupid state that doesn’t sell liquor in grocery stores?

I come here for the Deli. OMG, can the employees who work the deli line really work any slower. It really takes 20 minutes to get a flipping sammy! The saving grace is that the sandwiches are really tasty and cheap. It the deli workers didn’t treat their job as if they were Cal-Trans workers this place would rock!

This Crossroads Safeway and Costco Sand City are my two favorite stores. I hope this Safeway doesn’t change, since Save Mart bought all the Safeways a few months ago. My fav things: — Safeway Select Soups. Although they discontinued one of my all time favorties… Chicken Coconut Red Curry, they still have Stompin’ Steak Chili, and Chicken Corn Chowder. I just had Autumn Harvest Butternut Squash, a seasonal soup… wish I’d bought more before the season was over… YUM! — Produce section… all veggies are perfect. and not moldy smelling as they are sometimes at Save Mart on Carmel Rancho. Best variety here… many dressings, and my favorite lettuce… Fresh Express Tender Ruby Reds in a plastic box. — Dairy… most variety of any grocery store… including tough to find Silk Vanilla Creamer, and all the Yoplait flavors. — Breads… they discontinued tasty chocolate, and avoid the Eurograin bread, but they recently introduced a fabulous mediteranean Spice Bread… OMG! — Deli Sushi is very fresh here, and I like the meatloaf(near baked chicken). — Wine prices and selection are really great. — Frozen Foods… great selection, including the best… Talenti Gelato in all the flavors. — Can’t review meat or fish, as I buy it at Costco. — Great store selection of many brands in addition to Safeway’s…you don’t find this variety anywhere else. All in all, the best Safeway, and the best grocery store in the county.

Too many«Safeway» brand products… not enough variety of other brands. They only sell FOSTERFARMS chicken, the most evil company in the world. Produce is pathetic. They’ve been trying to promote their«organic» produce but it’s not good quality and I wouldn’t trust their assertion that it’s really organic. The best thing about this store is the self check registers. Makes everything go fast.

We are shopping here more often now. If you follow the ads you can chip away a bit from the higher retail pricing Safeway commands over other chain grocers. Sometimes the deals are surprising. The store was recently renovated, actually it was only a rearranging of items. They now have a dedicated craft beer refer. The selection of craft beers could be improved upon but it is nice to see the effort here. Safeway Crossroads bakery deserves a nod. There is plenty of help on hand and they have a decent selection of pastries and cakes. The best deal in the store is day old chocolate cake slices for $ 2.50. The icing they make compares well to some of the nicer bakeries on the Monterey Peninsula. The customer demographics is also a positive. It’s civilized.

This place is clean and the staff are friendly. The prices are very high and the food selection is decent. Their flower section is excellent – great for hostess gifts. The wine section also has a diverse amount of good wines at great prices.

This Safeway would get a top billing of 5 stars except … during the busiest part of the afternoon, at the Deli counter, they always seem to be short of people to help you out so you sometimes have to wait awhile. Other than that small part, this is a really great Safeway.

I was reprimanded the checker in the express line that it was a 15 item minimum AFTER I had told her I had 2 separate orders(1 order of 6 items and 1 order of exactly 15 items — not to mention that 6 items were exactly the same and another 4 items, don’t the have a quantity key?) I already typed in my club card number, swiped my credit card and had the pen in my hand to sign when she scolded me. So I guess you cant be 1 person with 2 separate orders of more than 15 items? Would you rather me have been a little old lady who cant type her club card in, waits until she get the total to get our her check book, or hunts for correct change? The kicker is, there was no one in line behind me and since it was 12:58pm, I am assuming it was her break time too. On another occasion, when there were no staff to bag the groceries, I grabbed some milk to put back in the cart to help out, and also scolded that I was not allow to put items in the cart myself, that they must load it. This is another clear sample of how corporate rules and regulations get in the way of customer service. Thank goodness there is a Savemart around the corner.

Pretty busy Safeway. Carts left and right. People are on a mission to get their groceries with their list and all. Staff are friendly and polite. Asking customers if assistance is needed. Everything is in order. Produce guy restocking fresh fruits! :) Only few registers open. :(

I’m accustomed to a much larger Safeway, but that didn’t take away from my positive experience at this location. The girl working the deli counter let me try various cold cuts and even suggested I try her favorite cheese, the colby jack, which was really nice. We were planning to have a picnic but didn’t come prepared(no knife), the bakery staff cut our baguette for us and boxed it up for us as well, quick and easy. Fast forward to the check out. Given the demographics of Carmel, I feel like there should be an age limit for using the Self — Check Out Stands because the scanners were schooling every elderly person who attempted to use them, either way, we made it through in fairly decent time and had a great picnic!

Clint Eastwood must have shopped at this Safeway at least once. Made a pit stop here to use the restroom. It was nice and clean! This Safeway was definitely a few notches vs. the ones I’ve been to. I grabbed some Alpo on sale for my April and was on my merry way…
