We tried this place last night for the first time. You feel welcome the minute you walk in the door. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our waitress was so sweet and on point. I ask about the cream of mushroom soup and she assured me it was popular. I tried it and she was right, even our 2 grandchildren tried it and liked it and they are not mushroom fans. I had a burger and it was very good, the rest had pizza and thought it was ok but did compare it to a couple of other places and liked the other places better, like BoomBazz I do believe the pizza’s are way over priced. Not alot of toppings and a bit bland.

Last night was my second visit to this place, I must have spaced writing a review the first time! Met a few friends with my wife for dinner. We arrived a bit later than them and were ushered to the table upon greeting. The last time we were here we tried the pizza, so this time we went with calzones. They have a few options they came up with, nothing overly impressive, or they have a build your own option where you are charged per topping. I just went with a simple steak and cheese with peppers, onions, and mushrooms. The calzones are pretty big, most won’t need an appetizer before the entrée. It was cooked to perfection, and all around pretty tasty. Served with your choice of sauce on the side for dipping. My one complaint is about half of it(pretty close to) was just dough with no stuffing. I will say mine seemed to be the worst of the four, so mistakes happen. Not enough to keep me from going back at some point!

Just FYI — this place is PACKED on a Saturday night. And not with adults — there was a child’s birthday party going on. Talk about LOUDDDD. As soon as the children left around 8:30pm, the noise level dropped to normal levels. Before that, we were yelling to hear the person across from us, let alone anyone else at our table. The food — always good pizza here. We got that Mighty Meaty pizza. Lots of toppings, good amount of cheese and sauce, buttery crisp crust that is soft to bite into. Very happy with the food!

love this pizza place! with its fun environment and interesting décor, it’s a great place for the family and friends! they have food for the adventurous and for the restricted. They have a gluten and dairy free option which is great. my favorites are definitely the pretzel with parmesan appetizer and the margarita pizza. their beer cheese dip is also an excellent addition to the pretzels! it can be a bit pricy, but the deliciousness and excellent service makes up for it!

Had dinner with the family here, having heard and read many positive reviews. Boy was it a disappointment. The crust(spring water, whole wheat) dominated the three pies we ordered to the point that the toppings were almost not tasted. I don’t know whether it was too little topping or too much crust, but the result was not very flavorful. The menu suggests very interesting combinations of flavors and textures(we ordered a Margherita, a Thai, and a Mediterranean pie), but alas it was not to be. Service was attentive, but the overall environment was surprisingly loud.

Great pretzels. However service was slower than expected. Food was good. Close to home.

Thanks so much for your gluten free pizza. I know it’s kind of a fad diet right now, but not for me. I have to eat gluten free. That’s why it’s so great to find someone who will sell a great pizza I can eat. By the way, your pizza tastes fantastic!

Finally! We’ve finally found a decent pizza place on the Northside. Mellow Mushroom’s pepperoni pizza is almost exactly what I want when I want«pizza»: chewy crust with just a hint of crisp at the ends(NOTCRISPY-CRISPY crust), tangy sauce, stringy cheese(and lots of it), and pepperoni that you can easily peel off. The slices are huge, which is fine by me. A large is just shy of $ 20, which is awesome.

I came into the Mellow Mushroom with high hopes, since I’ve grown accustomed to some great craft pizza joints here in the northern Indy suburbs of Carmel and Westfield. Despite all the funky décor and theming, I was a little disappointed at the quality of the pizza. Certainly not bad, but nothing stood out. Unfortunately, I just don’t think it can compete with the likes of Crust, Pizzology and the other top-tier boutique pizza restaurants. Maybe they’re not trying to be top-tier, which I can understand. Service was poor, however. We were in a party of 6, and everyone’s drinks ran dry multiple times. Our server disappeared for 10 – 15 minutes at a time, which is never good. I’ll probably give them another try, but so far there isn’t much positive to say.

Pizza chain based in Atlanta, one I am familiar with and enjoy very much. New York Style pizza, very fresh ingredients. I love their pizza, thin, chewy large slices. Good salads, like their hummus appetizer. Excellent selection of craft beers too. Not big on the location, good staff, its clean but lacks any atmosphere.

I really enjoyed the pizza. Went in for an afternoon snack. A 10″ small pizza and a drink was under $ 14. Dough was good, and the toppings were tasty. It was worth it. I’ll be back to try and larger pizza and a beer some night soon.

Is it more expensive than a lot of pizza joints? Yep. Is it worth it? No question, in my book. The pizza is always hot and fresh, with plentiful toppings. My go-to is the Mighty Meaty. My wife is a bit more adventurous, and she often opts for one of their artisan pizzas. Add to that a decent selection of local and regional beers, and stellar service every time we’ve gone there, we think it’s worth the higher price for the higher quality food and service. We’re regulars.

Yum! My friend and I were fairly hangry and MM was the closest place and neither of us had ever been. Very chill pizza place — was nice that there’s an adult area [bar] and a family area. There were a fair # of kids there but we didn’t hear it thanks to the separation. It was fairly dead and a non-busy time for food, so we go our food fairly quickly. Pretzel sticks + beer cheese AND marinara = uhhh-mazing. The beer cheese alone was tasty! Both of us got calzones which appeared very huge– we thought we’d be able to conquer them entirely, but that wasn’t the case. Don’t let your eyes fool you. My leftovers made for a great lunch. Overall — great place, now I know what the Lafayette people clamour for. The girl did mix up our bills & charge my friend’s amount on my credit card and vice versa but it didn’t really matter since we both spent the same amt roughly.

We enjoyed the family friendly atmosphere and fresh from the oven pretzels appetizer. We mistakenly thought they were pretzel bites so we ordered the full size order of 7 pieces. Wow, no the 7 piece appetizer was 7 full size pretzels! There is a great variety of toppings to choose from and they also offer dairy free cheese which is a great option for lactose intolerant kids. On the downside the toppings were a bit on the skimpy side and the pizza was just okay. Not amazing, but all around a solid option for a casual family friendly pizza place.

The first Mellow Mushroom my family stumbled upon was in Asheville, NC… and well instantly fell in love. It was a few years later when I realized it was a franchise, and I was ecstatic to know there was one in Carmel. This location is very clean and friendly. Love trying the different unusual pizzas and the crust is as good as it gets! My personal favorite is the Barbecue chicken, delightful! The only downside is sometimes found in the ambience. They have a bar area but I feel as though it’s hard to separate the family-friendly area.

After raving recommendations from my co-workers, I thought I’d go out of my way after work to get this«awesome» pizza at Mellow Mushroom. Initial thought as I picked up my pizza at the counter. I can imagine a hipster in super-flared bell-bottoms walking in bare-footed with hairy armpits, stoned, hallucinating at the thoughts of flower-power, peace-signs, and magic mushrooms. Ok… well…that doesn’t fit my self-description. Har har. I really wanted to love the pizza, but I was sorely disappointed. I didn’t see what was so special between Mellow’s vs. other pizza joints(unless you spiked it with some magic mushrooms maybe). If I went to Papa Johns, Donatos, Pizza Hut… I could get boxes and more boxes of pizzas for $ 30. Nothing to rave about, just a mediocre pizza with no pizzazz. Credits to the ultra-fresh ingredients, but the pizza dough was just too chewy for my liking and it reheated to a soggy-mess in the oven. Perhaps if I ate in next time, I’d be able to enjoy it fresh in this cool-vibed atmosphere.
