Unprofessional, immature, loud, henhouse. I was waiting in the front area to have my appointment for my massage. While I was sitting there I was looking out of the window as I knew that I was going to be going in for a relaxing service. I had hoped that I could sit there and get myself in a nice relaxed state before I went in for my massage. The girls at the front desk were trying to sell someone a membership, but the way they were doing it was very loud and they were creating a party atmosphere. Excuse me but is massage time party time? It was like they were trying to convince these ladies that they would have such a good time there. It was unfortunate to witness. The massage was decent but I still heard a lot of noise in the hallway. I won’t be going back.

Two of my sisters came to visit me a few weeks ago from out of state so I thought it would be nice to take them for a massage. Hand and Stone was having a great deal which was a one hour massage and a one hour facial for $ 80. When I called to make the appointments, the manager was very accommodating and did everything she could to make sure we could have all of our treatments done at the same time. The staff was courteous and pleasant and the facility was clean and relaxing. There were a lot of options to add on additional things like a hand massage during your facial, aromatherapy, hot towels, etc which I would imagine could add up very quickly. We opted for the plain old massage and facials and for 40 bucks each it was a good deal, but I’m not sure their services are worth what they normally charge. I’ve found that I can get a quality massage for less than $ 30 at one of the many foot massage salons that are popping up around town.

The massage itself was a 5 star experience. However, from walking in the door to leaving, extra services, memberships, specials, gift cards, etc were offered to such an extent it took away from the experience. The check in person and masseuse both offered several minutes of advertisement for upgrades and other services, before the message, and before I could pay, was taken on a 5 minute advertisement. After I got the receipt I had to sit through several more minutes of ads to such an extent I thought I might just leave as she was talking. Seriously I don’t think I described the extent of how much they talk about whatever they are trying to sell. Will not return for that reason alone.

I checked out Hand & Stone on a grand opening special and didn’t pay a cent for my facial. It was an amazing facial experience — honestly one of the best I’ve ever had(so I tipped generously), but the minutes before and after left a little bit to be desired. Hand & Stone is like other membership-centric establishments. So, there was a fairly hard-sell that I was overhearing before my facial in the lobby, and I received the same hard-sell upon checking out. If this stressed you out I’d suggest asking to sit in the«tranquility room»(a quiet room with dim lighting and reclining chairs) before your service and be prepared to be firm upon check out. It is pretty great that walk-ins are available at almost any time — a perk for busy folks!
