I’ve been shopping at Delia’s since I was a teenager, but thanks to some of the snotty crew at this Delia’s location in particular, I will have to make the journey to the downtown one instead. One summer, when I was trying to find some cute little trinkets for a friend of mine, I stopped into Delia’s to see what they had. The two employees present never greeted me, stood behind the counter, and pretended I didn’t exist. It didn’t really bother me at that point because working at similar jobs as they did I understand being sociable for long hours can be exhausting. Yet, when I turned to leave after finding nothing that suited my friend, I heard them talk about me as was I exiting to leave.(«God, she was so weird. She didn’t even buy anything, why bother coming in here? What a bitch.») I turned the other cheek, but I had it right in my mind to report them to the manager. I will never go to this Delia’s again, if it’s the last thing I do!

This store is definitely overpriced, but I guess when you’re spending your rich parents’ money that doesn’t matter much. Delia’s was my first catalog purchase when I went away to college, at 18, and I maintain a fondness for the stuff they carry. I was pleased to find a couple dresses for under $ 35 that look cute on my almost 32 year old curvy frame(they fall a little above the knee rather than a little below the ass). When I came in, I was greeted by the girl by the door, and I had no problem finding someone to let me into the fitting room. I couldn’t find any leggings and the cashier had someone go get some from the back for me. I thought the price tag said $ 9.50…realized after I paid it said $ 19.50. WTF? For black stretchy pants? Oh well. I needed some, that night. That’s the price I pay for convenience.

From the outside, this looks like a cute little shop with the latest trends in «junior» clothing… seemed like a fun place to shop. And, I’m sure it can be under the right circumstances. Now, I’m not a junior — obviously — but I do have family members I shop for who fit this description and I do occasionally find things I like in these type shops that fit me. That’s why I wandered into Delia’s, in fact. I spied some funky retro t-shirts with slogans and other graphics splashed across them that really took me back a few years… well, all the way back to when I actually WAS a junior! I was mulling over the options and trying to decide which I would choose for myself and which for my aforementioned family members. After about 15 minutes of doing this and still receiving no greeting or offer of assistance from either of the two, count ‘em two! salesgirls, I decided to leave. There was nary another soul in the place so this was particularly disappointing. ** For those of you reading my retail reviews and thinking me too harsh, think otherwise. I am not a stranger to the retail world and I don’t have unattainable expectations… I just want to be acknowledged at the very least, and if I look like I need help, offered assistance. I work hard for the money I earn and I think the same should be true of those who work in the places where I part with it…’nuff said!
