After trying 3TIMES to go here and use a gift certificate that I just bought, I discovered that they are permanently closed. Of course this is after the hours kept changing and we could never get them to answer their phones. So glad they sold all those half off gift certificates on Fox 59 knowing full well they weren’t going to be open anymore. Scumbags.

Cooking Greek is kind of weird to me. It’s one of those restaurants that seems good on the outside, but gives me the creeps. This doesn’t happen to me very often, so I’m not sure how to describe it. I’ve been here twice now, once with the boyfriend and once with the mom, and they seemed to like it pretty well. And I thought it was okay enough, but several things bug me and I don’t think I’m going to go out of my way to come here anymore. One thing that bothers me is that they don’t list their hours on their website, they seem to change often, and I have weird hours at work and tend to need to go later or over the weekend, but I can’t keep track of when every restaurant is open. But if I remember correctly, they aren’t open on Sundays(or maybe just for brunch?) and close relatively early on weekdays. Bummer. But besides that, I’m not excited about their menu. I love Greek food; some Greek places are vegetarian friendly, but this one isn’t really. They have two vegetarian entrees: a veggie gyro and a sautéed veggie dish. The veggie gyro is basically the sautéed veggies in a pita. Not a ton of flavor, unless you get the feta cheese, which costs extra. The hummus is decent, but I’ve had better. Also, I’ve noticed that they always ask if you want the garlic and feta fries. Beware, because this costs a few dollars extra and they won’t mention it unless you ask. Red flag.(The fries are good, though). The prices are too expensive for what you get since they charge extra for a side. The flourless chocolate cake is decent, but the baklava always disappoints me. I love baklava in general(I’ve even made my own a couple times), but theirs has been dry and less flavorful both times I’ve visited and I feel like they’re cheaping out with a minimal amount of honey and walnuts(the good stuff in baklava, really!) The one thing I really do like is the atmosphere and décor. The walls are a beautiful, bright Mediterranean blue and there are lovely pictures of Greece everywhere. Now if only I could pat down the nagging feeling that they’re trying to rip me off here, maybe I’d enjoy it.

The food is great, but I won’t come without a groupon or certificate. The prices are just high enough to keep me away if I don’t have a coupon, despite it being the best falafel in Indy. Thankfully, between several discount websites, there is usually a coupon to be found.

Too bad there’s not an option to leave a negative star. Let me get right to the point of my frustration, disappointment, and disbelief that this place got any positive reviews. I purchased a gyro from here over the lunch hour last Friday, and had to endure the owner/cook degrading her only waiter for explaining«special requests» from the 2 tables in this small and uncomfortable environment she calls a restaurant, while she continued to complain about the requests and how all the customers read the menu incorrectly. Again, 2 tables during Friday lunch rush hour explains it all. I have lived all over the country and am a recent transplant to the Indy area, so I did not have high expectations for my gyro. Unfortunately it was tasteless overcooked pan seared chicken with equally unappetizing tazaki sauce. She forgot(or simply decided not to include) the onion and tomato and instead put on lettuce, which left me scratching my head as I thought this place was supposed to be authentic Greek. The real kicker was that I found out 4 days later that I was charged $ 14 for this extremely subpar chicken gyro, even though my card was run for $ 8 and change. Now I’ve had to waste my time and my bank’s time to report fraudulent charges. Thanks«cooking greek». Not only did you not satisfy my craving for a decent gyro, you also wasted my time over a $ 6 add on tip and forced me to leave this negative review. My bet is this restaurant will not be open 6 months from now without new owners and/or new management. The world would be a better place if it just goes away, and karma will be served.

Discovered this place by chance. One of the best restaurants in Indianapolis. Best gyros anywhere. People who complain about the prices should go to McDonalds. Worth every penny.

We weren’t optimistic when we sat down at our rickety table and swatted flies. Drinks were slow because they were not equipped to deal with more than a table of two. Our hopes went up after really good greek fries with feta. The lemon chicken placed thisrestaurant in the dumps. An overcooked microwaved flavorless chicken breast. Definitely not greek chicken!!! BTW, if you use the $ 17 groupon and order two sodas, it will cost you $ 9.09 extra. Not worth it.

I discovered this place by pure chance. I’m gluten free and until recently I was a vegetarian, so I was looking for options, and this little gem popped up. The food is absolutely delicious! It’s cooked fresh, so there is a bit of a wait for it, but it is SO worth it. Everyone is very friendly(they make you feel like family) and they care about any special diets. I will always continue to come back to this restaurant/catering/cooking school as long as I keep coming back to Indy. I am even planning on ordering some yummies to be shipped to me once I go back home. My favorites are the greek salad, the chicken gluten-free gyro, the rice pudding, and the gluten free chocolate cake. Be aware that portions are very generous and they do keep well if you decide to take them home to eat later.

I attended a cooking class there last fall and had a great time. So when I found a Groupon for a class for 4, I jumped at the chance to do it again, this time as a double date. Unfortunately, the owner canceled our class due to unforeseen circumstances, which we understood. However, she just called and canceled again, this time 3 hours before class, because she doesn’t want to do a class for«just the 4 of us», even though we have been signed up for over a month. I’d say it’s the least she can do to make up for canceling on us once before. Needless to say, I’m irritated and have complained to Groupon and received a full refund. I will not be returning.

They are now opened for breakfast on weekends. No waiting in line after church. The menu has American favorites as well as some creative Greek variations. All food is fresh and they have some great, unique, homemade desserts. We hit the place every week.

Very disappointed in the groupon they have going on now; $ 20 for $ 40. They would not honor the full $ 40, and don’t share their creative accounting until after you order and the bill is up near $ 80…after groupon. They add their own gratuity and you do not get what’s promised. The food is good, but watch out… Very expensive. I don’t like feeling I’ve been taken advantage of, so I will not be going back.

Falafel for appetizer, small greek salad was good but came topped with potato salad which I had not seen before. Ate that separately and it was good. Didn’t want to ruin my salad… then had a great gyro, very flavorful and tender. Our new Carmel greek place.

My wife and I took our second Greek cooking class here tonight. We really like this place. The owners are extremely friendly, and they really do put their personalities into the store. We have enjoyed both our classes, and my wife also took a mini class a little while ago. The evening takes a couple hours from start to finish. Tonight we prepared lamb shank, orzo, and Greek meatballs, finished with Greek yogurt over fruit. The pace is comfortable, and Katherine talks you through each step of the way. She really encourages you to season to taste, and to be expressive in your own way. She has been cooking for years, and teaching others, so it comes so naturally. While we prepped the meal, we chatted with the other guests(there were 9 of us total tonight), and enjoyed the company. While we waited for our food to be prepared, Katherine brought out freshly prepared baba ghanoush and warm pita and we all sat together and talked some more. Once our dinner was ready, we each took our meal, and set to work gnawing on the large lamb shank. The meat was tasty(of course it was, I seasoned it well!), and the orzo was tender, and flavorful. The meatballs were nicely browned and made a perfect appetizer with the pita and baba ghanoush. Katherine takes cleanliness in the kitchen very seriously, as she kept her kitchen and work space very clean. Her husband, Sam, is a wonderful conversationalist. We had been in the week before to register for the class, and spent nearly 2 hours chatting with him about family, work, and life in general. He was very welcoming tonight when we came back as well. Cooking Greek offers private classes as well, and we are already planning to bring a group of friends back for a private class(along with some new friends we met tonight at this class). We havent tried their restaurant side of the operation, but plan to in the coming weeks. An enjoyable evening for all, and a wonderful experience I’d recommend to everyone!

Food tasted good but portions were small for the price. Gyros were small and Greek salad was also small and for $ 9.00 was not worth it. Who puts potato salad in the middle of a Greek salad? Barely any sing of Feta cheese in the salad. I went there with my wife and we ordered 2 Gyros, 2 ice teas and shared a Greek salad. I was still hungry and our bill was $ 37.00. Not worth that!

This place is fantastic. We go there quite a lot. It’s a family run place. The owner, Katherine, is warm and personal as well as her husband, her daughters and a few others that work there. It’s the kind of place that if you go there often, you’ll get to the family. Best of all, the food is fabulous. It’s just top notch. They also have a LARGE variety of home-made desserts. We almost always take some home for later. This is one of our very favorite places.

I took my team from work here a few weeks ago for a corporate team building event. Everyone had a great time, enjoyed the session and especially enjoyed the food. Tonight I took my whole family(8 of us plus a baby) for my wife’s birtdhay. Again, we all had a BLAST! Katherine(the owner) is so hospitable… she made us feel like we were at home. She helped us, advised us, and encouraged us to make it «ouir own». Unbelievable time was had by all. The food was great, the ambiance even better. Not only is it a great class, but they have great items you can purchase to take home as well. Cannolies, hummus, wine, olive oil and best of all, the cheese that you make saganaki from(flaming goat cheese). They are also open for lunch and dinner as a restaurant. Have been there a few times for lunch… great gyros! I love locally owned places. Katherine pours her heart into this place and it shows. If you haven’t been there, you gotta try it for yourself.

The food here is fabulous. I have eaten here twice now and plan on making it a regular go to spot. The people are very friendly and helpful. The Greek salad was very fresh and made the way I know Greek food to be authentic, with a spoon of potato salad in the middle. I have also had the spinakopita(?spell); a philo dough spinach and feta baked dish. This was terrific. Perfectly cooked. I have had this elsewhere in Indy and philo dough is gross when burned. My husband has had the gyro with lamb meat and said the meat was outstanding. It wasn’t made with the filler you find at some restaurants. Great potato salad! I could go on raving. If you want good Greek food this is the place to go.

Great service, timely deliveries, great for a small meal or a large group. Gyros are authentic, Greek salad was great, and they were extremely friendly. I called up and got a decent sized order. After they had delivered the food and an hour had passed, they called me to make sure everything tasted ok. Very kind and thoughtful, and the food was delicious. They also have cooking classes, looks fun.
