My Grandmother was there for rehabilitation and the staff was wonderful. She is only going to be so comfortable outside of her home but the staff’s patience and understanding helped a bunch. She did not complain about the food like at the hospital so it must have been pretty good. All in all they made a tough situation as pleasant and quick as possible

Regarding Carmel Health and Living on Medical Drive in Carmel, Indiana : You need to think twice before trusting your family members to this establishment: Carmel Health and Living on Medical Drive in Carmel, Indiana behind CVS Pharmacy. I live nearby and the sirens from the fire department emergency services are going all the time. Since it has a fairly large nursing home population, some emergency vehicle activity is to be expected. But not the other problems that I have heard about on many occasions… For instance, I was told by a gentleman who has lived there that the staff actually controls patients, or attempts to control patients, by denying them certain medicines when«they don’t behave!» And they(the staff) apparently do not like their ambulatory patients to leave the premises, ever, for a walk because they«must be accounted for at all times.» A patient’s whereabouts and well being is, of course, a concern for any facility that deals with older, vulnerable people, but it does NOT need to make them feel miserable in order to fulfill this objective. And, considering the fact that these patients are also PAYINGCUSTOMERS, they should be treated with more respect. Instead many on the staff seem to see patients as a necessary annoyance whose only purpose for being there is to generate income for Carmel Health and Living and its parent company, Riverside Hospital of Noblesville, Indiana. Lest you think this is just one person’s opinion(9.e. mine), you need to look up the investigations on behalf of , which clearly indicate the poor quality of Carmel Health and Living services. Simply Google” Carmel Health and Living ratings” at . You will be amazed. This is pretty bad stuff. Embarrassing for the City of Carmel, which is supposed to be a «class act» and embarrassing for Riverside Hospital, who is apparently the owner of this operation and advertising themselves on television as being a «state of the art» medical facility. Carmel Health and Living is anything BUT state of the art, at least from what I have seen. Senior citizens who have worked a lifetime and been responsible citizens should be treated with much more respect in their later years,’ The loss of dignity in this place is astounding, as is the paranoia of staff who are clearly either 1) unqualified for their kind of service or 2) are being TOLD to be «on the lookout» for things like«infractions of the rules» and«overly snoopy visitors. In my opinion, the only reason management EVER has for acting as if they have something to hide is that they DOINDEED have something to hide! In addition to poor practices cited, I have also been told that they now buy the cheapest possible medical products to maximize profits for the stakeholders, such as «leakage pads» that themselves leak. And NOW they are having staff wear uniforms… which they must pay for themselves… so that the actual nursing staff is indistinguishable from, say, the custodial staff. And I have also been told that staff will actually resort to calling a patient’s physician to tell him of her that they don’t really need this or that medicine because they wish to control a patient or make life miserable so they will leave and go elsewhere. This place needs to be investigated by a real journalist who will verify these allegations(or refute them) if for no other reason than they need to be held accountable.
