One of my favorite go to hotdog joints in New Jersey. Small, crammed, and well worth the wait on a Tuesday at high noon.

Always the best for a quick lunch! Love the deep fried big one with kraut and red onions! So good! The fries are always hot and crisp and even better with brown gravy or chili and cheese! It’s cash only and usually crowded but the line moves fast so know what you want when it’s your turn.

What a diamond in the rough. Had two dogs here the Mexican and the taco. Both great dogs with a lot of flavor. Tried the ranch fries and they were no too bad. Could have used a different cheese on them got a bit hard. Also ordered the corn nuggets. Could not stop eating them. Will def be back

My first time here today, I’m not a fan of hotdogs and I had the taco hotdog with no onions and must say they were very good, fresh bread, lettuce, cherry tomatoes and cheese… soooo yummy! I will definitely come back with my coworkers and family what a nice small place to stop for a quick bite to eat!!!

Don’t let the exterior or poor parking deter you from this place. It’s well worth it. A co-worker discovered this place and we go regularly now. When other co-workers come from other states, the Hot Dog House is where they want to go for lunch. The owners are friendly and keep it neat. My number hot dog there has relish, baked beans, and raw onions. Always get the fries and when possible with chili and cheese. They make them to order.

If you need to make a pit stop for a quick bite this is the right place for it. Their hot dogs, buns and toppings are very good. And you are in and out in a hurry.

Consistently great dogs! This place is very small and has great hot dogs and sides… Nothing else. The hot dogs crunch when the skin is broken on that first bite ! Yummy in my tummy. They only accept cash so go prepared. Bar still style seating and a few out door picnic tables. Nothing else to say but great food and good service. Enjoy

It is just what you hope it would be. A snappy hot dog in a fresh bun with any topping you’d want, a side of loaded fries and a soda. Simple stuff done right. Only 5 parking spots out front, but don’t skip it if they’re full — there’s always space on the side street.

Have not been here in years. The only thing that changed is the number of items to choose from. WOW !!! Some fancy dancy combos. Taste is as good as I can remember. Price isn’t to bad for all the goods you can put on top of a pup. Good choice if you are in the area or even if you feel like traveling for a good hot dog.

OK… so as hot dogs go, they’re all over the place. A good hot dog in NJ should be easy to find. A ‘great’ hot dog place is not… however, The Hot Dog House in Carlstadt is definitely my favorite. It’s a tiny place on Rt 7 South but it puts out the most delicious chili cheese dog I have ever had. The chili is so flavorful and tasty and has a nice kick to it. And the juicy hot dog has a snap to it when you bite into it. They put raw chopped onion on top and that really tops it off nicely! I like their French fries too. They’re fried crispy just the way I like them(thinly sliced!). It’s convenient, quick, delicious, and well… you just can’t eat one!

Great hot dogs, and their French fries are excellent. I usually get their chili and cheese dog and the bacon bits and cheese dog with a side of fries. Definitely a great place for a quick, hearty bite accompanied by friendly service.

I’ve slowed down on my reviews lately since, to be honest, I ran out of stuff to tell you about. Well today I’m back in business… at least for the short term. Today we made a double stop for lunch, here at the Hot Dog House, then for dessert at Ice Cream Charlie’s in Rutherford. Last year my arteries started to hate me a bit when I started on a quest to find the greatest hot dogs in North Jersey so I took some time off to let the cholesterol dissipate a little. Today at the Hot Dog House we got back on track. I was a little concerned on the way over as my co-worker told me they were basically dirty water dogs with great toppings. I won’t thumb my nose at dirty water dogs, but I simply prefer grilled dogs… or fried like Rutt’s Hut. I have to tell ya, these dirty water dogs were friggin’ ONPOINT!!! I ordered two with chili, cheese and onions(Double D) and one with kraut, chili and cheese… also a fries and a Stewart’s Root beer. HOLYCRAP! I think these are skin-on Sabrett’s, but if not it doesn’t matter because they were delicious. Normal sized dogs that snapped when you bit into them and served on a nice soft bun. Chili was really good-they offer hot or mild(went with the hot of course) and the cheese, onions and kraut all served to bring these dogs together in a delicious explosion of flavor. I would have liked just a tiny bit more chili and cheese, but I won’t kill ‘em for it. The fries were good, nothing really out of the ordinary, but well done shoestrings that were pretty good. My co-worker wasn’t happy with our service. The ladies behind the counter were either deaf or frazzled because we had to tell them our order two times each(there were three of us ordering). Looked like they’d been working here for decades so they shouldn’t have been so confused. Either way, they eventually got my order right and any frustration soon dissolved into a distant memory as I enjoyed the dogs. Glad to see my first time out this spring in search of the perfect hot dog brought us success… not perfection, but success. As a word of warning-parking here is absolutely nuts. Getting out of the lot wasn’t particularly easy either. Only like 5 – 6 spaces so you might be better off parking around the corner in the neighborhood and then walking down. We got to eat outside on one of three tables on the most beautiful day of the year, so overall«Today was a Good Day!»

Been here a few times now and it just keeps getting better and better to me. My wife grew up down the street and the chili dogs here have been a part of her childhood memories. First time I came here I got what I usually order and that;s a plain dog with raw onion, ketchup and mustard. I wasn’t blown away. it was pretty good. The rest of the times I’ve been here. I was pretty blown away. I ordered their special that they are famous for round those parts. the chili dog. I was very very impressed. I finished it in three bites. I also ordered the Chicago Dog and it was so good as well! The cheese fries were semi-addicting. Lots of cheese sauce on top of thin fries. Love it. This place is a staple around the 17 Rutherford area and once you go. you will see why. Tiny spot with loads of character, consistency and flavor! A lot of you have probably driven right by this place on the way to the Meadowlands on rt 17. Another cool NJ hot dog spot you must check out!
