Payment Systems and it’s entire sales force are CROOKS!!! Mathew Edward Wiltsey CEO of Payment Systems, is proud to steal money from small family owned businesses. I have personally seen employees of this company alter contracts after they have been signed by unsuspecting merchants. I worked for Payment Systems for 5 years to long, once I became aware of the unethical business practices, it was time to jump ship. This company steals money from it’s employees and merchants alike! Matt Wiltsey will continue cheat, lie and steal in order to uphold his lavish lifestyle and habits/​addictions. Payment Systems has a extended history of bad reviews. Oh, How I wish people took advantage of Google before signing up with any services such as Payment Systems offers. PS has 22 reviews and all say about the same thing: STAY AWAY. I only spoke with them on the phone, and that was enough to decide NOT to give them a chance at my business. How can 22 reviews ALL be wrong? I couldn’t even find enough to give them the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, you’re sunk if you sign up with them. You have very little recourse and they have access to your checking account. Guess who wins in the end??? (hint: not you)

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I have never worked with a more unprofessional and basically unethical company. They misrepresented what they could provide me. They promised that they could they save our business money on a monthly basis and that they would be able to transfer all of our existing gift cards to their new system. We made it very clear how important it was to get the gift cards transferred as there was so many out there. It seemed like a win-​win situation. Once the equipment arrived and was hooked up, we tried to process cards and gift cards and this is where the troubles began. The gift cards were not working. When we called our sales representative, she was no longer with the company and no one else in the company could help me with our gift card troubles. After a few weeks of attempting to work with the company, someone from the company called and said that they could not transfer our old gift cards. This made the system useless to us as we could not just tell customers their gift cards were no longer valid! After months of fees for nothing, I was finally able to get Payment Systems to close our account, but there was no refund on the wasted fees! I figured it cost me a couple hundred dollars but at least the nightmare was over, but then a 3^rd party company, Lease Finance Group, started harassing us for payment. This company provided the equipment. I was told by Payment Systems that when we were released from our contract all we had to do was send the equipment back and all was finished. Unfortunately, all is still not finished 8 years later!!! I am currently being sued by Lease Fiancé Group for close to $ 7000 for the lease of equipment that was never used. When I called Payment Systems to ask for help, I was told by the incredibly rude supervisor of customer service, Celeste, that although they are authorized to sell a third party service, they could not help with a third party service. Once they sell it, there is nothing they can do. This company does not care about people. All they care about is the money they received for not providing any of the services that were promised!!!
I have read many similar concerns with this company. The more of us that file complaints with the attorney general, the more likely this company will finally be investigated.

They are not accredited by the Better Business Bureau and I encourage anyone considering doing business with this company to check out their «F» rating with

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! ANYTHING THEIR SALESPERSON TELLS YOU IS A LIE! They promise one rate, charge another. They charge you for equipment fees after telling you there are no equipment fees. They charge you service fees that they don’t tell you about. If you want to terminate service, they try to charge you a $ 1400 TERMINATION FEE that they never mentioned. They tell you that the salesperson you dealt with no longer works for the company. I went to their office, they gave me the run around, then gave me the number for their VP of operations, who would handle it personally… the number doesn’t work. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE FRAUDS AND THIEVES! I would give them zero stars if I could!

Not checking Unilocal before I signed up with these guys is my biggest mistake in 32 years!!! (The other one was pouring flour all over the living room in order to make snow flakes when I was 6)
The sales person was super duper nice and kind. I believed everything he told me. That was the beginning of the mistakes. Almost everything he told me were lies and I shouldn’t have believed him.
The representative from Payment Systems told me that she was sorry that he lied but it was ultimately my mistake that I signed without reading the contract. She was not taking any responsibility and told me it was all my fault.
And this is the list of the things the sales person lied to me.
Lie # 1. He said I can try this company out and if I don’t like it, I can cancel it and they are gonna wave the cancellation fee. When I tried to cancel, they charged me outrageous $ 1500 cancellation fee!
Lie #2. He said it is going to be a $ 90 flat fee and that’s all I have to pay. I was charged annual (?) fee and PCI fee and some other charges which ended up $ 160 to $ 233 per month. (I used to pay less than $ 80 per month with other companies)
Lie #3. He told me that if I use debit cards there won’t be any charge. I always used debit and never credit cards. But they still charged me 2.7% rate of card usage.
Lie #4. Equipment lease. He said they will send me an equipment and as long as I am the customer, they will waive the rental fee. I was charged $ 100 per month for using the equipment.
This company is extremely unethical and people should stay far far away like Sauron’s ring.
It is not just this company. I have experienced other companies with similar cunning tactics. Sales person lies and when I call the customer service, they always tell me the sales person quit and you signed the «slavery contract» so you are bound to us and so on… But this company charged unfathomable amount of fees and I fee like I just got caught under the avalanche.
So be careful fellow Unilocalers.

Dealing with this company has been a nightmare! Their representative was pushy and ill-​informed and made commitments that are false. The Carlsbad office has extremely bad customer service and in general are all totally non-​responsive.

Resignation — Payment Systems Unethical And Illegal Business Practices
To Whom it may Concern,
My name is Joe Nicassio. I have been a sales and marketing consultant for 20 years.
I was referred by my Bishop at church that Payment Systems was a place I could generate some extra income, based on another church member who was working at Payment Systems.
The company promised that they would generate SOME quality sales leads and appointments, so that I had a good chance to make a good income.
The problem is, that was a BIG FAT LIE.
Payment Systems is incompetent or apathetic at generating quality sales leads.
As a 20 year marketing consultant, I am qualified to say this.
With a «quality lead», the prospect is «open» to letting the sales rep compete for their business.
They may enjoy their current service, but they are «open» to «improvement.»
A quality lead can make a decision to make a decision, yes or no.
A quality lead is looking forward to a professional meeting.
A quality lead has an expectation that Payment Systems is different, and trustworthy.
Here’s my experience:
I walk in, friendly, to serve, carrying the Holy Ghost. I genuinely want to help people.
My definition of «closing a sale» is «Helping people make decisions that are GOOD for THEM»
Over 95% of my appointments, the business owner told me «I TOLD THEM I WAS HAPPY WITH MY CURRENT PROCESSOR.»

I TOLD THEM THREE TIMES NOT TO SEND ANYONE!
or
I APOLOGIZE YOUR COMPANY IS WASTING YOUR TIME.
or
THE PERSON SCHEDULING THE APPOINTMENT WAS YELLING AND SCREAMING AT ME.

THE TELEMARKETERS CALLED ME FIVE TIMES, AND THEY WERE JOKERS. IT’S IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO TRUST DOING BUSINESS WITH SOMEONE WHO ISN’T STRAIGHT.
Those are accurate samples of customer responses.
Those are not quality leads. In fact, those are «Anti-​Quality» Leads.
Payment systems is NOT creating appointments that establish trust, but distrust, right from the start.
People do business with people they LIKE and TRUST.
I’m a likable guy, but when I, or any other sales rep walks in, and the company behaved in an untrustworthy fashion BEFORE I START, I have to take EXTRA time, too much time, to UNDO what the telemarketers have done.
Besides the incompetence at lead generation, I have other concerns with Payment Systems.
When I walk in, and do a «side by side comparison» of the numbers, and the prospect shows me a statement where their merchant fees are less than $ 50, EVERYTHING I will show them will be 300% more expensive.
Again, my definition of «closing a sale» is «Helping people make decisions that are GOOD for THEM.»
When I see those numbers, the HONEST thing to do is to tell the customer, «I wish I could help you, but I can’t. God Bless You, and have a nice day.»
The payment systems approach is to switch from a «Price Comparison Sale» to a «Value Sale.»
If we set appointments based on «Bait» of a side by side price comparison, and as salespeople, state an agenda based on a «side by side price comparison», then «Switch» to a value comparison, these techniques are AGAINST THE LAW according to the Federal Trade Commission.
«Bait-​and-​switch is a form of FRAUD used in sales but also employed in other contexts. First, customers are „baited“ by merchants marketing products or services at a low price, but when customers visit the store, they discover that the advertised goods are not available, or the customers are pressured by sales people to consider similar, but higher priced items („switching“).»
As a professional, my reputation for INTEGRITY is VERY important to me. Bait and switch tactics are unethical at the least, and illegal. I will not break the law to earn an income. I do dot want to be on «60 minutes» cameras, doing an exposé story about fraudulent sales tactics, as promoted by Payment Systems Management.
One prospect had THREE contracts: An equipment Lease, A merchant processing lease, and a merchant loan against merchant services. I was heavily encouraged to attempt to get the client to break THREE contracts, in order to acquire a sale. I couldn’t do that. I’m in the business of helping people, not hurting them.
Money at the service of others is good. Money at the cost of others is evil.
Finally, I am disgusted with the companies concern for making money over human life. The company doesn’t care about human life or safety. Even though I had my vehicle safety inspected before I traveled, my fuel pump failed in the middle of an 8 lane major highway. My manager called me, and I told him of my unsafe situation, and informed him AAA was on the way with a Tow truck. His response was, «you need to be on the conference call. I’ll patch you in.» I hung up, because I was concerned about my safety, and others safety. Payment Systems was NOT concerned with my safety.
It is for these reasons I am resigning from Payment Systems.

This company called three times back to back, after having told them I wasn’t interested, I did not wish to use their service and to remove me from their call list. I asked to talk with a supervisor on the third call, and he was a very aggressive and combative. He made fun of my business, and then told me he was trying to «help» me save money. I got all of their info, then reported them to the California Attorney General for violating DNC guidelines.

I am a small business in Nashville, TN. I have sent a complaint regarding this company to everyone I could think of. If anyone wants to call me and tell me a story regarding this company that could help push my complaint forward, email me at

I can’t believe it. they keep calling my business on busy time, so I asked the guy to stop calling me. he said ’ say sorry and please or I will keep calling you”. I close the phone but he kept calling and at the end he said very bad word to me. I called the company and I report it, but they said we don’t know who’s that and we can’t help you know.

I HATE THESE BASTARDS!!!

Telemarketing call from a blocked number. Why would I ever purchase anything from a company who calls from a blocked number? Call at 10:53 this morning, offering me 35% reduction of our credit card processing fees from PSC. She said it in such a way, that if I didn’t know better, I would have thought they were my current credit card processing company and they were just offering me lower fees. I asked her to please take us off their list. She said, there is no list. Hello, yes there is! You got my phone number from somewhere, even if it is a automated dialer. They automated dialer has my number, which is a list! She hung up. I receive another phone call @ 11:24, 31 minutes later, from another woman at PSC. This time I acted all excited that she called me, asked her to spell the name of her business for me and asked for her number. She gave me the company name, but not the phone number. I told her I will be reporting her to the Attorney General’s office.

Update: They have called me 4 times so far today. 10:53, 11:24, 12:46 & 1:43! Each time I’ve asked them to stop calling me and take me off their list. They keep telling me there is no list and when I tell them I’m going to report them, they act like they can’t hear me. Same game each time!
I called their customer service number and they transferred me to the department that will remove you from the list. It’s a recording, so I’m hoping it’s not another game they are playing. We will see.

We had a dozen or so calls from Vince with this company earlier today. We told him we were not interested. He continued to call to ask to speak with the boss. We asked for his name and number to have the call returned. He refused to give us his number and reluctantly gave the name of his business. After he harassed my employees on multiple calls, I took the phone and told him that my husband and I are the owners and we are not interested in his product. Advised him we were on the DNC list, and if he called again, I would report him. He called again, and my husband was very firm with him not to call again. He called again and told our employee how unprofessional we were. I regret he called on our second line so his number did not show up on caller ID. If this company operated in a honest manner, he would have gladly provided his number.

Yes, so I was on the phone with a rep who seemed new to me. Which is OK, the first rep was very nice and as soon as I asked a question the supervisor clicked over.
To my great surprise the supervisor was very pushy, demanding, and argumentative. I am sure the world of Telemarketing is very intense but as soon as someone combative comes to the phone it ruins the business/​business owner relationship. They called me 2 times already and each time ended the same way with a one sided argument, which I tried to not to get involved.
I said to the supervisor to stop calling me and put me on their do not call list after being called 3 or 4 times over and over again after I said I was not interested. They said they will try again and again until someone gets an appointment. I said that’s not OK and the next time the company will call me I will sue for harassment. They hung up the phone.
I have NO IDEA how this business wishes to succeed being absolutely rude and threatening.
I am not sure if this company actually does credit processing but I do know my first impression was they have horrible customer service. You can make up your mind if you wish to use this company. But beware of these horrible processors.

Sounds to me like a multi-​level marketing shady company. The guy didn’t dress properly. He’s an independent contractor as opposed to an employee. Came to my store and offer to save about $ 23/​month. Proceeded with the ‘car sale man’ mentality and ‘hard-​to-​get let be call my manager to see if you qualified’ hubla. Didn’t disclose any cancellation fee. Hard sellman… pushy pushy including the manager. Told him I need to check out his company before I want to do business with him. He didn’t like that too much. He wanted to chose the deal now. Not comfortable doing business with people who I don’t trust and you can’t push me with a financial and personal information are involved. I smell fish all over.

Stay away from this company! Their current rating on BBB is «F» and have 56 negative reports from consumer affairs!
I have been lied to by the sales rep and sales manager and can not cancel due to a non-​cancellable lease. I have been promised low rates as well and waived annual fees but so far they have been lies! We have also been charged for TIN/​TFN fees for almost 13 – 14 months and they have not been able to fix the issue. I have stumbled across a list of e-​mails of companies currently using Payment System and so far several companies have expressed the same frustrations as I have.

Creep calls back. threatens me says he’ll never come into my place of business again and that he was right down the street and would spread the word to his friends not to come. So after that I said OK. send the guy for the offer. I’ll NEVER do business with PAYMENT SYSTEMS and I’d like to meet this creep personally.

Just spoke to a ‘rep’ from Payment Systems who first spoke to my employee to put the owner on the phone because the call was regarding our credit transactions. After being transferred to me, the rep was INCREDIBLY pushy and urged me to give him my mother’s phone number so that he could set up a meeting. ‘My LA rep will be heading out to your area tomorrow and needs your mother to verify your business address. You have qualified for a 30% decrease in your credit transactions and we are very eager to work with you on this new rate.’ I asked him for a phone number I can reach him back at and he said he currently did not have a direct line to his phone. Weird. I asked 3 times for a phone number and he gave me some 888 number.
Everything about the call seemed a little bit fishy. Will NOT be calling this guy back, especially with the previous reviews for this ‘Corp’.
