Fabulous after school program. Would highly recommend.

We were looking for an after school program for our son, and this was the only option we had. I initially had reservations about putting our son in Karate since I never participated as a child, and thought that it had limited benefit. Boy, did I eat my initial misconceptions! This was easily the best thing we have done for our son. In the studio, Master Chris, his instructor, has a great instructional style, utilizing his decades of experience to tactfully blend disciple with encouragement to both push but also nurture every child in the studio. Not only do they learn the craft of Tang Soo Do, but they have through physical exertion with calisthenics and combat moves. Additionally, in every class they sit down for a few minutes and have discussions about disciple, helpfulness, empathy, etc… all kinds of roots topics. And the kids actually… listen!
We also have our son in the after school program. They pick him up at Pacific Rim after school, then ferry him to the studio in their Shuttle Bus– so convenient! There, Mr. Philip and Ms. Bridget supervise the kids as they do their schoolwork and get some play time before and after their Tang Soo Do Time. Often, most of our son’s work is complete before we even pick him up.
From Corey at the front desk, to the Owners Mr/​Mrs Jones who really care about their business and the kids, to all the instructors, NCMA is a great place. We’ll definitely continue going here for years to come, and can’t wait till our younger son can join too. Thanks NCMA!

I have been a student at North County Martial Arts since it inception. It has been an amazing environment for growth and education: respect, responsibility, discipline, confidence, fitness, etc. As a black belt I became apart of the NCMA’s Demo Team and had the opportunity be the Captain providing me with great leadership experience that made me a better instructor and supervisor in other fields. Additionally, the tricks and kicks with strength and conditioning exercises helped me to build muscles, as well as, eye-​hand coordination and agility. My martial arts training has carried into other aspects of my life including lifting, running and even swimming. The journey thus far has only been positive and I cannot wait to learn more advanced moves such as hip throws, take downs and closed quarters drills. I highly recommend for children as young as three to adults. While the training may affect a student differently, it creates a positive environment to build life skills and learning how to apply to art to the martial. Tang Soo Do does a great job balancing the the two aspects that make up martial arts.

My son has been with NCMA for almost a year. We’ve noticed some changes in the way he plays other sports but we didn’t really attribute it to NCMA until just the other day. It started when I had dropped my son off, and was watching his class. It began with drills. They were speed drills. Later, jumping drills. Stretching and strength drills. Then, the students were focused on forms. I think it all translates. My son plays other sports with way more confidence, accuracy, and speed. I feel like he has an advantage by taking classes at NCMA. The staff is fantastic. We’ve been really happy. I hope my son makes it to black belt. I adore Master Jennifer and Mr. Chris for all the attention they have given my family. It is just strict enough and yet still a very warm environment.

Both my boys have been at NCMA for almost 3 years. The karate instruction is top notch. Equally, if not more impressive, are the discipline and good character skills that are brought in to every lesson. These skills have generalized to their school and at home behavior as well. As a parent we try to impress on our boys these valuable and desirable skills. It always helps to have extra help and NCMA has crystalized these traits in them. 5 stars all the way.

North County Martial Arts has a great atmosphere for learning. As a second degree black belt from another school I know what a good instructor is and the staff at NCMA definitely has it. Mr. Chris and al the master are amazing and they keep a good ratio of student to instructors so I always feel like I have someone to point out my mistakes and help me get to that next level.

Jacqueline is loving the program and doing great! Ms Bridget does a wonderful job helping make sure the homework gets done and Mr. Chris is an awesome teacher, inspiring her to do her best.

My kids have spent the better part of their lives at the studio (7 years). If your looking for an activity that promotes great values, perseverance, and a sense of community then NCMA is for you. The instructors are great at preparing the students for the mental toughness needed not only during (rigorous!) belt testing but also in life. Be prepared to work hard as the students will be expected to meet the physical demands for each belt. The rewards will last a lifetime.

I’ve been training for over four years and will hopefully take my black belt test in October. Our masters are fabulous, experienced instructors. They know what each person is capable of and they believe in you when you might not believe in yourself. They teach much more than martial arts. They’ve shaped the character of my family. I couldn’t ask for better people to surround my children with. We love this studio!

Our son has been attending NCMA for about 4 months and we don’t have a bad thing to say. They are very good with our son and have an amazing after school program. We would highly recommend NCMA and they are extremely affordable!

My son has been at NCMA for one year and the progress he has made physically, mentally and emotionally is amazing. He attends the AMP (after school) program which, among a long list of other attributes, includes a daily karate instruction class. I cannot sing this center’s praises highly or loudly enough, nor envision a better consistent influence in my son’s life. The owners and staff are all supportive, talented, skilled, professional and friendly. I am very grateful for all they have done and will continue to do in the future.

Fantastic martial arts classes for little kids. Our son has been practicing with them for 2 years and it has been an amazing experience. They also do a really fun «Jedi Training» themed bday party that the kids just loved!

My Son absolutely loves the classes and I can see a demonstrated increase in his discipline and focus as demonstrated by the facilities dedicated instructors. If your kids don’t go here, they should.
