Lisa the bartender absolutely rules! Great humor, great drinks, great service. Doesn’t get better!

Just had breakfast buffet for 3 adults and 1 child. The patio was great. Not much service is needed for a buffet but the hostesses were very nice and we got seated right away. The buffet has changed since I was here last time and it has definitely been improved so if you haven’t been here in a while give it a chance. The omelet chef was super friendly and the buffet had good selection and was well maintained. I’m not sure if this was a champagne breakfast but I saw people with champagne although I wasn’t offered any. The cool thing was this gluten free station… I don’t eat gluten free but saw that people liked it. I will definitely return next time I am at LaCosta.

Glad to report that I had a great lunch here. A lawyer friend came down from L.A. and we met on the beautiful outside patio with a view of the golf course. We both had the mini wedge salad with blue cheese. The wedge was cold and crisp as it should be, with a yummy dressing. Rita then had the pasta of the day, with chicken and tomatoes and it looked great. Was served on large penne pasta which looked like it was cooked just right, and the sauce was fresh. I had a delicious fish of the day, which turned out to be local sea bass. Ordinarily I only like Chilean sea bass but this was absolutely delicious and tasty. Grilled, on top of a little mound of vegetable-infused risotto. The risotto had just the right consistency, slightly chewy, not gooey. Quite a good lunch. Okay okay, then we did relent… and had the chocolate cake for two!!! OMG. Supremely yum. Moist chocolate cake and thick very chocolaty frosting. A true treat for two. This is a regular hangout for ladies who lunch, the locals, and people bringing their mom. There was one adorable little old mom in blingy jumpsuit. So cute. Such a nice place to hang out and glad that the cuisine has improved.

While not«legendary» this is a solid restaurant with excellent service. During our recent week long stay here at the resort, we had breakfast here 5 times, and dinner twice. Meals were pretty consistent each time, although after New Year’s Day, the breakfast buffet was no longer offered, and the actual restaurant was closed during dinner with the menu being offered in the bar near the main lobby. The omelet bar was the best part of the breakfast buffet, and I would recommend you ask them to make scrambled eggs there rather than get the eggs from the buffet as those were a bit dry. Our kids loved the pancakes and waffles and fresh fruit. Overall, it was a good deal compared to ordered a la carte, especially since the juices were included in the buffet, but were $ 5 off the menu. Dinner was very good, although also overpriced, in my opinion. Kid’s drinks were $ 4. The beef short ribs were superb, very tasty and tender. The skirt steak and flank steaks were just average. Appetizers were also overpriced. Our kids had the kid’s buffet the first night(but it was not offered mid-week after the holidays) and really enjoyed(and ate their $ 12 worth) the buffet which included the usual kids’ favorites of mac n cheese, pizza, and chicken tenders. Service at all of our meals was excellent. They were very accommodating for our family with two young kids(6 and 3 ½). We never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table.

I would give the breakfast buffet 3 stars, but the lunch menu/experience a 1, hence the 2 stars. The buffet was included as a part of our resort package, or else the $ 30+ per person would have been completely NOT worth it. However, there was an omelette bar with an absolutely fantastic chef — super courteous with funny stories. There was salmon with capers(yum!) and the usual sausages, eggs, potatoes, french toast, blintz’s, etc. The scenery outside is beautiful but the birds are a complete terror. There is bird poop on most tables that the waiters(understandably) can’t keep up with, and birds will be daring and try to swoop and get stuff off your plate. My husband and I had to «take turns» going back to the buffet because otherwise our plates may have been ripped apart if we left the table alone. Kids were kind of terrible — although I blame the parents for letting them run around everywhere, bumping into customers. I wonder if the waiters/managers could have done a little more to keep their families aware. Lunch was disgusting. The menu was incredibly small, and my sandwich was a complete disappointment. I couldn’t have more than 3 bites.

Breakfast buffet was included with our room. Super convenient. The food was fine, but not very interesting. Not much variety. Good enough to make the kids happy though.

Service was good. View is great. Short ribs were very good. Swordfish was just ok Everything else was just average. The sides were like what you would get at a buffet. Hugely overpriced.

I love coming here and eating outside. Everything is consistently good but service is hit or miss. Desserts are also hit or miss. While all are delicious, they often don’t have one or more. Still the food is very good no matter what you get.

Planned a get together w 10 friends after having the chocolate cake(to die for) for my birthday. Raved about it to all my friends, got them all excited. Called ahead to see if I needed to Pre order the 10 slices and the woman said yes. We got there, service was SO slow, two ordered sautéed calamari which smelt awful and tasted even worse! The server took it back, we had already been there for an hour and a half so the two guests skipped dinner, knowing the chocolate cake would do just fine. They bring it out and it looked way different. So they cut it and it’s not even the cake I was hoping for. Sent that back, got a slice of the real chocolate cake and left, 3 hours later, totally unsatisified. Manager didn’t charge for the cake or calamari, but he shouldn’t have, no one ate it. Bad experience and I felt bad for dragging my 10 friends here with high hopes! One star for the real chocolate cake

We had dinner here last weekend during our stay with some friends on the patio. The setting is great but will be even better when the golf course remodel is done. I wasn’t super hungry so I ordered the trio of pork sliders and didn’t expect much. I was impressed with how they were cooked. The pork had good flavor and was nice and tender. My fiancé enjoyed her burger and our friends liked their food as well. All in all it was a nice dinner and the drinks were priced well. I am looking forward to coming back here over our wedding weekend when the remodel is done and enjoying another dinner.

The setting is exquisite, overlooking both the golf course and hills of La Costa. Service at the«Legendary» restaurant, though, is generally lacking and food tends to be overpriced. When it is open, we refer clients and friends to La Costa’s Blue FIre and the warm greetings of manager Joey – who makes every effort to insure diner’s satisfaction. His enthusiasm and commitment to service are contagious – and would be a real asset at The Legends.

My boyfriend planned a patio dinner for us here for my birthday last month. The hostess greeted us right away and even offered to take our picture out in front of the beautiful mosaic tiled entrance. We were seated outside and someone immediately came by to light the Spanish-style fireplace. I ordered a mojito which was AWESOME(and I am super picky about my mojitos because it’s all I drink!). I had the risotto which was so good that I stillll think about it. Can’t wait to go back and have it again, it was just that good. My boyfriend loved his dish as well and since they knew it was my birthday they brought by a complimentary slice of German chocolate cake with a coconut shave topping. It was of course, rich and delectable but just too much to finish after our delicious meal. But a nice touch, nonetheless! We live in inland San Diego but will definitely make the drive out to La Costa Resort so we can savor the relaxing atmosphere that Legends offers and also enjoy their great service.

We had dinner their with a big group on the 4th of July. My Mediterrenean pasta actually had really good flavors but I wasn’t that hungry for some reason. My wife’s salmon was pretty good. My sister-in-law’s sea bass was pretty good. My brother’s burger was just the usual, nothing special. He might’ve got food poisoning from it. Vomting and diarrhea all that night.(But more likely the gas station hot dog he had earlier that day.) My couson’s $ 40 steak was reportedly decent. We sampled all 5 desserts and they were all decent. Cheesecake, peach cobbler, something with smores, german chocolate cake, and one other non memorable dessert. I liked the german chocolate cake with toasted coconut the best, my wife liked the smores thing the best. Everybody else didn’t seem to care too much. The kids buffet seemed most appealing to me. Spaghetti with meatballs, chicken strips, cookies, gummy bears, and some other stuff.
