We was looking for a birthday cake. Found this good reviews«French» bakery. Bought the looked«ok» lemon cream cake. They used low grade«lemon curd jam» as filling, food coloring for the sponge cake & overdose sugar with their cream… the whole cake was $ 28! Champagne French Bakery would be better choice!

Thank you so much for the amazing cake they made for my son 5th year old birthday party. The theme was Ninjago and I just brought them a picture of a cake and look what was the result! Incredible! My son was so happy and everybody was completely impressed! And it was really really good… Merci :)

Love everything here. Plus free coffee! There quiches are amazing. Bought a load of bread there and it made the most epic toast. But, my all time favorites are the flourless chocolate cake and chocolate croissants. AND great service!

The quiche tasted and smelled like a homeless person rolled around in the ingredients beforehand. After paying for the worst excuse for quiche I’ve ever had, I called to complain to the owner. Her response was that the cheese used is usually off-putting to Americans. Apparently, the name of the store is also the owner’s motto, and not in a good way. In other words, if we, the owners, market ourselves as a yuppie, overpriced French café, and the«cuisine» that we hawk tastes like the bottom of a trash can, well, such is life and also, no refunds.

Love the idea of fresh-homemade quiche & delicious pastries… perfect combination. I will definitely return, but for the pastries/bread only. The quiche was served lukewarm and did not have very much flavor/ingredients. I was disappointed with the quality of the quiche. The pastries on the other hand were all delicious. The Rainbow Bar was so amazing and the cookies were even better!

Finally my search is over! Living at the border of France for over 20 years I grew up eating the most delectable croissants every morning and had just about given up hope finding anything comparable in the US, until yesterday. The coconut croissant was calling my name from the moment I stepped foot in this cute little bakery due to how perfectly crispy the ends looked and it tasted every bit, actually a million times better than it looked! Having a coconut croissant was also a first, a very nice combination that could only be topped by it being chocolate and coconut, but the dough itself is what dreams are made of! Perfectly flakey and buttery, this was really heaven and I was sad only purchased one. The eclaire also good, not expecting it to get filled with chocolate pudding, tasty, but not as good as the croissant. Also, the large cookie with caramel, chocolate, coconut and cranberries very tasty, but again the croissants are a must here! Free coffee a nice touch and excellent service make this the best bakery in the area by far and i cannot wait to get back here as often as possible for more!

Gourmet!!! First stop small shop with patio seating. Mini quiche I had Artichoke was wonderful. The crust is super light and flaky. All the other pastries look equally as good can’t wait to try some. The girl who served me was very nice, heavy French accent. Shop offers rewards and free quiche for liking on Facebook. Stop in you will not be disappointed. Bön appetit :-)

We ordered a cake for our 20th Anniversary Vow Renewal. It was beautiful, exactly what I had in mind, and everyone loved it! Thank you so much!

We got our wedding cake from C’est la vie and it was perfect! They were great to work with from the start. We loved doing the tasting and working with them to figure out what exactly we wanted. The cake was beautiful but most of all, it was delicious!

Real deal! I am from Paris and their quiches and tartes make me fly back into my childhood memories… My favorites are going from the peer tarte to the pythivier, artichoke or pepperoni quiches, of course ask if they have some chouquette left they are amazing! Free coffee and terrace, easy parking are a plus I must say. Nathalie the Frenchy, enjoy

I brought in a picture of a birthday cake I wanted them to make — they did a beautiful job, delivered it to my home, AND it was delicious. I went back another time to purchase some quiches and tarts to take to a brunch and they were a huge hit. I am a big fan!

Really good food made from scratch, with good products like the french cheese, yummy! On my first visit, reblochon quiche, cheese chouquettes(also called gougères in French), and croissant tasted like home. I’ll come back to taste other things. And you can enjoy free coffee or tea with your purchase!

They offer free coffee or tea with any purchase which is nice. That was new for me since the Danish Bakery use to charge before. I probably visit once every week hoping that they have a better selection of teas. The lady who helped me this morning said they only have one flavor since it’s free. WELL maybe you can consider charging us instead. I would definitely pay for my tea as I did in the past. Also, I have tried a few items since it’s changed and I wasn’t very satisfied. I tried a pumpkin scone which tasted nothing like pumpkin and on my next visit I told the lady at the counter and she just said she hadn’t heard anyone else complain. So then I thought, well I’ll just stick to what I know and love which are the bird nest cookies. Consistency isn’t always there… I find that the more I visit the less fresh the cookies taste. I tried a butter cookie today and it was so hard :(Maybe others have had the same experience as I noticed this spot isn’t as busy as it use to be. Also, I read the comments from the owner. It’s sad to know that he doesn’t see it. I realize not everyone will be satisfied with the taste but at least believe us when we take the time to review. And I really hope he does not reply with negative vibes. UPDATE: TAKE A LOOKTOSEEHOWTHEOWNERRESPONDSTONEGATIVEREVIEWS. CALLINGHISCUSTOMERSFAKE. i have previously reviewed this business. the owner responded, and i urge everyone to read the way he responds to unhappy customers. this ‘update’ addresses that response by the owner from my initial review(see below), … i have added an updated review b/c the owners response made me change my mind: i would like to give 1 star, instead of two(and, would give none if that were an option). here is my response to what the owner has said regarding my initial review: and, right there potential future patrons — the kind of response you see from the owner is EXACTLY the reason i would never patron his business again! and, after reading his response, i’m sure there are plenty of others who will not bother with that kind of terrible customer service, either. actually, Unilocal exists for exactly this reason. a tool for consumers to communicate and express satisfaction or dissatisfaction with any number of business practices. in this case, terrible customer service. does the owner think Unilocal exists only if it suits him for positive feedback and free advertising, or something? maybe the language barrier does not allow him to understand the purpose of Unilocal?i’m not certain. i do know that there is no excuse for this kind of behavior. plenty of businesses will take an order, and have you pay on the day of pick up. there is nothing unusual about that. in fact, that is what i will be doing with the place i eventually ordered my cake from(much cheaper than this place, and i tasted a cake from this other place just 2 days ago, … it was delicious and beautiful — a bakery at my local grocery store! and, the service was fantastic!). as i previously said, if the owner wants to change policy, that is fine. just not mid-business hours, just a few hours after i was already told that the policy was completely opposite that morning. i don’t have a problem with the policy, if they are looking for ways to protect customer information. but, there was a pretty simple solution in the short term, that would not have necessitated that kind of atrocious handling of customer service concerns or issues. his own staff felt bad for the customers, and expressed their fear of having«many disgruntled, unhappy customers.» you could hear over the phone that the employees dreaded making calls to patrons who were previously told something different. i did indeed place several calls to the business. this is true. that’s because i spoke to two separate people who said it was«out of their hands,» and i requested a call from the owner, which never happened. if he can respond here, surely he could attempt to reach out to a potential customer over the phone, even with a language barrier. and, while the owner claims that the manager was told what to tell me, both employees that i spoke to actually shared their frustration with me, and agreed that it was an inappropriate way to handle business and participate in customer service. in fact, after a conversation with the manager, the ONLY reason i would have considered continuing to place an order would have been because of the kindness and understanding of the manager(sadly, she could not do anything to right the situation, as the owners took that ability out of her hands). but, the manager clearly wished she had the authority to resolve the issue, apologized, and wished me a pleasant weekend. since i never got a call back from the owner, and instead got this rude response, … it has solidified my initial instinct that this is not a company that i care to ever give any of my business/hard-earned money to. if you value being respected and considered as a customer, this response from the owner should give a good clue about what they are all about. in reality, a savvy business owner would be able to see that there actually is an in-between answer regarding credit card safety measures, vs. changing a policy mid-business-hours, … one could easily rip-up/shred the card number so safety and privacy is secure, and take payment on the day of pick up, or a day or two prior. my issue wasn’t with the policy being implemented, but that you move forward with said new policy beginning with every NEW customer. you don’t go changing your policy for customers who have already begun placing orders and who have been told something entirely different. it is clear they don’t care about their local residents and the community where they have chosen to set up a small shop. so, i would not support them, and encourage others not to, as well. from the looks of it(other Unilocal reviews) they aren’t all that great in the ‘taste’ department either, and instead of taking constructive criticism maturely, the owner is incredibly rude to anyone giving him less than a stellar review. very telling! if the owner is unhappy that i am using Unilocal to express how terrible i think this company is, he is not going to like what i tell my friends and community members, in person, about this business.

Hmmm… the fruit tart was dry and hard as a rock! The cinnamon roll was crispy and crunchy — glad my teeth are still there! The almond square had no flavor. The customer service is great. There was only one person serving(and us) at the place that morning. It’s tucked away and difficult to locate(but i suppose you won’t miss anything, if you don’t find it)

Wow– I am so happy I found this wonderful bakery! The quiches are incredible, nice they have singles for one and the larger for more portions… their little pecan pies are soooo good! They now are baking beautiful loaves of french bread which makes the best french toast I have ever made… so glad to have such a good quality bakery here in Carlsbad.

Review based on pecan pie, St. Honore, lemon bar, flourless chocolate cake, and mushroom asparagus quiche. Lemon bar was yellow, sweet but lacked lemon flavor. Pecan pie, lots of pecans, no filling no flavor, thick dense crust. St. Honore pâté a choux paste was very dense, almost bread like, the filling was very good. The flourless chocolate cake was good but a better chocolate/cocoa and less sugar would give it a richer flavor. There are lots of quiches, bland and crust needs improvement, threw it away. A few more modern flavors poblano, jalapeño or chorizo would help. Miette and Darshan are more destination bakeries.

Love this«new» bakery. The former Danish Bakery became a French Quiche and Cake bakery. Excellent fresh homemade quiches, they are delicious. Love the cheese one, you feel you are in France. And they are still doing their wonderful cakes. A very talented crew. Was treated to free coffee and wifi, what more can you ask for. Keep on the good work, we are delighted.
