Don’t do company events here. They ripped me off $ 300 when i had a dinner for 14. Didn’t realize their price fix was a rip — they charged significantly more than the individual items were added together — and since then after 4 phone calls they never call me back. No integrity. Will not eat there again.

Service was great… food was very disappointing. We paid $ 100 a plate for the NYE menu and the food was so bland and was not fresh at all. To begin with… my salad, the lettuce looked old, soup needed some serious seasoning. Second course, scallops were cold & risotto looked like it came out of a box. Main course… my fish had clearly been frozen. To be fair, our waiter was super cool & we told him our concerns and he took $ 100 off! Joseph rocks I’m giving this place 1 star because our waiter was really nice. DONOTGOHERETOEAT

Made a reservation for my family on Christmas Eve. Arrived on time and the ladies at the host stand came across as overwhelmed and distracted. The dining room adjacent to the entrance was totally empty. It felt like the place was closed except for the cooks in the kitchen(which you can see from the door). It’s not an exhibition kitchen either just a kitchen you can see from the entrance(really odd and unattractive). We were shocked to find the only menu being offered was $ 75pp + tax and gratuity. We were even more shocked to learn what was included in the $ 75pp price. Sadly just three courses and two options per course… except for dessert which there was only one of. It was a strange dessert that didn’t even sound appetizing. At that point most of us wanted to leave. However, it was Christmas Eve and we weren’t sure we’d get in anywhere else. We had the hostess seat us and to our horror is was at a five person table next to the kitchen by the front door. There were six of us eating, so the hostess tried to squeeze another setting in. It was super cold and in the 40’s that night. Every time the door opened a blast of cold wind blew across our table There weren’t even other people in the dining room… just us and the cooks/kitchen staff. We could hear everything happening in the kitchen it was just awful. Felt like our table was in the middle of the kitchen. The whole experience was appalling especially for an upscale/high priced restaurant. We could not believe they expected to charge top dollar for a meager menu and subpar dining experience. Even their regular menu is expensive and not a good value. The restaurant really has a poor layout/décor/ambiance and needs a remodel — bad. The only good thing about it is the live music and happy hour. We ended up leaving and going to another restaurant. We would have rather eaten Chinese takeout than eat there. If you’re looking for a high quality dining experience on a holiday(or any day) look elsewhere.

Wow, I could spend several hours writing a book about this place. It should be a case study on how NOT to run a restaurant. We just went for Christmas dinner. It was $ 75/each for a fixed menu. On Christmas you had better be on your game and get things right. And for $ 75 each you had better be serving great food. These are people’s Christmas memories you are dealing with! The food was average, at the very best. The service was abysmal. I was horrified and angry every minute I was in this place. The hostess was a nasty ice queen. She made no eye contact, was annoyed that we were even checking in, and it seemed she would rather be at home sitting on the couch eating marshmallows watching a Christmas movie than doing her very simple job. And to add insult to injury during the check in phase, I had called this restaurant and left voice mails five times, and sent one email, to let them know that we were dropping our reservation from six people to four people. I never got a return confirmation as I had asked, so I kept calling back. I finally got someone that said they would leave a message with the manager, someone named Melissa McKenna. They assured me that the notation would be made. I wanted to make sure of this because I understand how it is to run a business, and I did not want to cause them to overbook space. However, when I showed up, the hostess gave me a nasty look and said that she showed I had six in my party instead of the four I showed up with. I explained that I had called multiple times to drop it to four, and that someone had assured me that notation would be made. It was not. It was awkward. It was their fault. Every phase of the meal was slow. It took 1.5 hours to get our entrees, which were incredibly average to below average. The server was absent for most of the meal. There were a few times when she entered the dining area and walked right by us, and while I attempted to get her attention she never noticed, never scanned the room to see who she could help, and was just walking through as a matter of course. I ended up going to the bar to get my own drinks twice because she was so inept and inattentive. The server kept saying, «its not my fault, the kitchen is backed up». She was more worried about her tip than her customers holiday memories! The people running this place do not realize they are not only serving food, they are creating memories. We could have cooked the mess they served us on our own, at home, for a fraction of the cost. We went there to have a good time, and be served well, in a nice environment. I was served a beer with a chipped glass that almost cut my lip. We all had the prime rib and one steak was served cold, so she ate by herself after she got her steak heated up. When it came back the steak was hot, but the veggies and sides were cold! You would think when someone wants the main item heated up, that you’d pay attention to the rest of the plate as well. Then the dessert was served, and the server asked«can I get you anything else», and by the time I asked the table and turned around to let her know, she was gone! She asked out of habit, and then ran away. The desserts were pre-made and looked and tasted like they sat in the refrigerator for a week. They were horrible. When the bill came there was no discount, no free drinks, no nothing. This place ruined our Christmas. This was the single worst meal and the most atrocious service I have ever had in 40 years of eating out. This restaurant should fire every single person on the staff, management should then terminate itself immediately, and they should start from scratch with new management, new staff, a new menu, higher quality food, and a better attitude. Every dinner here is a wonderful dinner! Love their ceviche, the shrimp empanadas and the ribs in the Chilean Menu. The corn soup is delicious. Customer service is great! We always sit with server Joseph, he is knowledgable about the menu, the specials, wines… Perfect place for a romantic dinner, or a dinner night with good friends.

I have dined twice at the Blue Fire Grill. My first experience was two years ago and I was overall happy with my experience. My latest experience was last weekend for my mom’s birthday. Unfortunately, and much to my dismay, the food was absolutely terrible. This applies not just to my dish(I had the sea bass), but to all of the dishes at the table. The Sea Bass, to be frank, tasted like nothing… there was no salt nor spices. The tomato purée and cilantro salad(or lack there of) that the bass sat on top of was the highlight of the dish. Their risotto was colorless and lacking in complex flavor(basically just tasted like a lot of Parmesan). The salmon was also lacking in flavor as was their chicken dish(seemed like they didn’t use any salt or spices to flavor the chicken). My cousin who is a vegetarian has the quinoa dish… again presentation zero. They basically took 2 – 3 cups of quinoa and dumped in on a plate and added some avocado on top… simply disappointing. The presentation of all of the dishes was absolutely sub-par. I expect a lot more from a restaurant at such a beautiful resort. Perhaps, we caught them on an off day… but for entrees that are $ 30+ this is totally unacceptable. The only item which was excellent was the Banana Split dessert(both in taste and presentation). As a resident living on the golf course I enjoy coming to the resort for the overall ambiance. The staff are very polite and friendly. The staff at the restaurant were also polite and friendly. However, the restaurants needs a serious makeover with regard to the quality, taste, and presentation of their food. I am overall very very disappointed in my dining experience last weekend and do hope that the Blue Fire Grill makes some changes in the future. Based off of my last experience I would not recommend this restaurant to my friends or family. I would suggest they go to Chart House on the 101 instead.

Very nice restaurant located right inside the beautiful La Costa resort. This place is actually pretty legit if you ask me. The décor and atmosphere is friendly and welcoming to go with some delicious food and awesome service. I really haven’t had anything bad at this spot and I’ve explored the menu quite extensively. Id recommend the risotto or the filet as a primary option and the scallops are freaking delicious as a starter. If it’s a nice night, attempt to sit outside as the ambiance is very nice outside, if not, the inside will surely suffice. Overall, a nice little restaurant with some great menu options. Pros– Menu Location Service Indoor/outdoor Cocktails Wine list Free valet Occasional live music Cons– Pricey Crowded Can get touristy

We first star at the bar area for HH. Really great place to get a drink. They had a guy playing the piano. We decided to have dinner there and it was great. We got seated a a booth and it was very intimate and cozy. The food was really delicious. The service was pretty good overall if I count all the other servers that helped us. Our main server was ok. I’m so used to servers pouring a taste of your bottle of wine to try to make sure it’s not bad that now I kind of get turned off if they don’t. She didn’t and we also ended pouring our own wine throughout the night. She was very cute, though. I feel like at a restaurant like that, the service should be better and it was a very light night for them since we dined there early for dinner. I highly recommend the Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc, ceviche appetizer, and the short ribs.

This place was great! Great ambience, great service and great food. Cheese platter was the best! Steak was fantastic. Not your typical hotel restaurant food was really good.

Overall pretty good food! The best part here is the ambiance and view. Omni resort is a great escape to relax, take in the view and really enjoy some family time. I personally come here once a year with the family for a little R&R. Definitely recommend.

A very nice mostly outdoor restaurant. We did sit outside with a nice musician playing some hip songs and nicer fireplace close by. Service was a little slow but that’s ok. Highly recommend the Cheese plate to start with! We did and loved it. Go for it! I enjoyed a fantastic piece of halibut. Delish, order this if you like seafood. My wife had the short rib paperdele pasta which was really great too– All in all, for the resort, you can’t go wrong.

While staying at the Omni for a conference, I stopped in here one night for dinner to have a few hours on my own. I ordered the local oysters… they were pretty good but nothing remarkable. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was nice. However, I don’t know if I’d make the trip to this restaurant if I wasn’t staying at the resort.

We are staying at La Costa resort and wanted to take the wife and kids to something nice. The ambiance not to sure about. The menus is limited. The waiter had personality and did a nice job. I had the mussels they were undercooked and the broth had no flavor basically water and lemon. A little salt and pepper was all it needed. Chef taste your food. Caesar Salad No dressing and dried chopped sardines. Again some salt pepper and some virgin olive oil would help. I had the the clam chowder as my entrée very watery. Clam chowder should be thick and hearty. The portion is way too small for $ 12.00. Opinion take the $ 200.00 and try another tourist trap.

Excellent place for dinner. We were lucky enough to be seated in one of the booths in the back. the ones that are basically made for an intimate dinner. It was perfect, we faced the rest of the restaurant while also feeling like we had privacy. Service was friendly. The busboy was sooo nice and attentive. Our food was amazing. Especially the short ribs. The pork sugo was the only dish that was just OK. But everything else we had was delicious. The Scallop Ceviche had big chunks of avocado. But didn’t care for the tortilla chips they provided to eat with it. I rather eat it with the cheesy cracker in the bread basket. Also, the moscow mule was so on point. Very delicious. We ended the night with the choco mousse cake and that was really good with the basil ice cream that was also on the plate. Would def come back. But def on the pricier side. They do have happy hour where 5 items are $ 5 each, among other things. It looks good.

I was really disappointed in this place. Sat outside which was nice, but you look out onto a courtyard. Was told I could not sit where I had gone and seated myself because that side was only for diners. There was nobody on that side so it was not as if they needed those tables for diners. Got the impression they just liked being difficult. By the time we had finished out drinks there was a grand total of 2 people on the dining side. Very disappointed.

Enjoyed dinner Saturday night. Ordered beet salad and Brussels sprouts for appetizer, both were good. Dinner was risotto and chicken. Risotto was ok, dense but tasty. Chicken was very good. Service wasn’t great(we were one of the only tables in our section), we had to ask the busboy to get our waitress a few times(to order dinner and get our bill). Will definitely visit again!

We had the pleasure of eating one of the best meals… EVER! And even better it was served with humor and expertise and perfect timing by Joseph who must be one of the all-time BEST waiters. Right from the get-go, Joseph was on-the-spot with suggestions and advice and truly every single element of our dinner was over-the-top consisting of new flavors and pairings and exceptional crafting. We will be back and we will be sitting at Joseph’s table and we will be enjoying an outstanding experience in lovely Carlsbad.

This restaurant meet and exceeded my expectations. Coming from the Bay Area which has the best food in the country i didn’t expect the meal or amazing service we received. The staff was attentive, engaging and knowledgeable. Our waiter Phil, had wonderful suggestions for wine(even doing several tastings so I could find something I was really in to) and was willing to work with the chef to tone down certain flavors that we didn’t care for(fennel). We had the muscles, sprouts, scallops(special) and short ribs. All of the items were perfectly prepared and had great flavor. I recommend this restaurant and we will be back.

Great ambience, warm and inviting. Walk to the restaurant is a nice stroll, unless we valet. Wait staff is attentive and helpful, had the beet salad and ciopino — great fresh roasted beets, vinaigrette and goat cheese, cioppino was a tasty tomato broth, fresh head on shrimp, luscious mussels and fresh fish — yummy.

I was hanging at La Costa with some friends the other day and all the kids NEEDED to eat… we walked up to an ½ full restaurant. They told us that we had to have reservations, but they still managed to find us a table for 10. That was nice of them. Service was VERY slow… oh well. we weren’t in any rush. they happily split our checks up(3 separate families). nice. our family ordered 4 appetizers. & a salad hubby and i shared the poutine and the mac n cheese with pork belly one kid had pasta with fries… the other kid had mac n cheese with fruit. no clue what the kids food tasted like. poutine was ok… a bit salty… better than the poutine i had at the tilted kilt(that doesn’t say much)…about the same as the bagged poutine at Trader Joes, nowhere near as amazing at the poutine at Carnitas Snack Shack. mac n cheese with pork belly. mac n cheese was good… nothing to jump up and down for but ok… pork belly was WAY overcooked. saying that… it still tasted ok… but never had pork belly cooked this much! oh …total bill was close to $ 60 before tip! whoa! so the food was ok… atmosphere nice service above average… convenience for those staying on the property… super… hmmm…maybe i’ll give it another whirl.
