Stopped there in the morning when driving through. Great food and service! It was so good, we stopped there for dinner on our way back through. Again, great food and service! Will definitely go back!

This was my first time here & anytime I’m passing through again I will try to make this my food stop when I want food that tastes like homemade. The chicken pot pie was the best I’ve had in many years. I’m not a huge fan of pepper cabbage, but the clerk at the hotel told me to try it. She was right. It was really good. It had a nice balance of vinegar and sugar. The portions are generous and the prices reasonable. My server was great and my order came promptly.

Awesome Diner! Went there recently on a Saturday with family. Food was great, service was great, prices are great! Very friendly staff. Very clean diner. Our waitress was superb. Highly recommended. Bathrooms are spotless. The owner and management really know how to make customers happy. Can’t wait to go back!

I am SUPER suspicious about the number of five-star reviews here. The Walnut Bottom is a run-of-the-mill, bland diner. The omelets are basic, the potatoes are flavorless, the corned beef hash is right out of the can. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and it was not bad, not especially good. Just underseasoned chicken salad on a plain wrap with watery lettuce. Nothing is terrible, there’s just no good reason to go here unless you’re hungry and are passing by.

Wonderful breakfast and great service. Had veggie omelet, hashbrowns and biscuit. Coffee strong and good. Waitress offered some coffee to go as a parting gift. Husband had huge special which included eggs, hashbrowns, a biscuit plus one pancake and a piece ofFrench toast. Pancake was perfect. Not a bit gummy as they often are. This will be a regular stop for us.

Excellent service and delicious food! We had a table of five(which included three children). All our food arrived within ten minutes after ordering it! Prices were very reasonable too for the amount of food we received. We will definitely be returning.

I’ve been driving for about 4 hours before I decided to pullover and get somerhing to eat. I was really craving a burger and something sweet and wanted to keep the cost low. Going down the interstate I saw signs for the diner and decided to check ir out. Of course before proceeding I checked some of the previous Unilocal reviews. The people there are pretty nice and the menu is ginormous. serious it was a big menu. I wish I took a picture hahah. So I ordered a Philly Cheese Burger well done and 2 regular French Toast. The wait time was about 5 — 7 mins. I loved the burger… I thought it was perfect and as crazy as I am I poured some of that maple syrup on my burger. Yum. The french toast was okay. Not bad not great, just okay. If your hungry and nearby looking for a diner with multiple food options, check ot out they are open 24⁄7

For a Diner in the middle of the night it was pretty good. Granted we went there at about 2am but thats a huge plus. In the Carlisle area it’s probably the best thing around at this time. The menu is huge so you won’t have any trouble finding something to eat. We had breakfast and it was pretty alright. Like I said it’s good for a diner and the prices are pretty good actually. If its late at night and you’re hungry hit this place up

The«PEPPERCABBAGE» is the most delicious side-dish I have ever had anywhere! Must try it! We ordered a 2nd serving for«dessert!» Great food, great service, warm & positive energy. I have baby beef liver in diners whenever I travel & the Walnut Bottom’s liver is THE best! Will make this a permanent pitstop every time I drive from Rochester to DC from now on. & you can’t beat 24⁄7! ツ

If you are on a road trip and need sustenance, this is a safe bet. It is clean, the service was O.K. and the food was average. Is this a diner I would travel out of my way for? NOPE. It’s convenient location from I-81 makes it a great option for a road trip meal though. If you are«hangry»(angry from being tired, and hungry) you will be delighted with this establishment. I have no complaints. It’s just average. I have been to many diners and I am a bit snobby with breakfast food. There is nothing on the menu that stands out. When paying for food, I want something better than a Saturday morning meal I can whip up with Bisquick, toast and Supermarket bacon.

I visit here frequently Most recent visit before posting review was in early April 2015 I freaking love this place! I typically go a couple times a month! Their fried oysters are wonderful. I also love their soups! If they’re serving any sort of ‘cream of whatever’ soup, then I’m getting it because their cream soups are always delicious! Breakfast there is always good and they do my home-fries as I request! Food comes out super fast and service is typically very quick and super friendly. I’ve only had one issue before with a waitress because she was very slow. You could see her hanging around the back wall chatting it up with the other waitresses, straight up ignoring her tables. I’ve also only had two issues with food there. I ordered a turkey club and the turkey was extremely dry, tasted old, and had a disturbing amount of gristle in it. The server was awesome and didn’t charge us for it. The meat in the Reuben sandwiches often tend to be tough and chewy, but otherwise tasty. I would definitely recommend you check this place out! Great diner food at a good price!

Walnut bottom Diner wAs so much better than a local diner but all the diners were local. When traveling that’s always a good sign. Service was fast and friendly. The food was tasty and hot. Loved the chicken cordon blue panini.

Yuck, Yuck, Yuck, Stay away! $ 25 We will never get back. Everything is pre-made & processed. Nothing is made in house. The soups are instant and everything else is pretty much either warmed up, fried, or assembled. The service is OK at best. My husband and I had the Greek Gyro, Chicken Finger Wrap, Chicken & Rice Soup, and two ice teas. Place is over priced and not worth the time or energy. Save your money.

Parking: Both were alright. We came a little after five on a Saturday and maybe the diner was half full. Their lot is huge so I can’t imagine ever having a parking issue here. Service: Very good until the end. Our order was taken promptly, drinks refilled without having to ask and the food came out hot so all in all very good. Now why did I say until the end? That’s because we had a table of six and a group of ten place placed around us after which our server disappeared when it came time to deliver the check. Finally after a ten plus minute wait she apologetically gave it to me saying that she was swamped, which indeed she was. Food: The menu is typical diner size(i.e. very large). The problem with that is very few places are able to be all things to all people. Better to do ten things correctly versus doing twenty things half-assed. The lovely wife got the vegetable lasagna which was on special. The accompanying house salad was non-noteworthy and the lasagna itself was according to her very dry like it had been sitting under a heat lamp or left in the oven way too long. I got the chicken parm. The accompanying chicken noodle soup was served dutch style with egg noodles but sadly was super bland. No seasoning-No flavor-No nothing. The chicken parm itself was a good size but the red sauce they use is very, very acidic and harsh to the point of being very difficult to eat. I was hitting the TUMS as soon as I got home as the acid reflux was already in full swing. While the location is super easy to get to right off the highway and the service overall was good enough, the food simply stunk. Between garbage red sauce and food that was dried out with no flavor it was disappointing as this place looks to have potential but I can’t imagine that we’ll be back.

Food, service, parking, ambiance is 5 stars. Order the chicken fried steak – comes with toast, eggs and home fries. It’s plentiful – enough to share. My kids always get the pancakes and bacon. I recommend ordering a meal instead of adding it on. I ordered my 2 kids a blueberry pancake each and a side order of bacon. 3 pieces for $ 2.45 a bit ridiculous. Overall the prices are reasonable. Plentiful parking, no problem with getting a table, service is super friendly and fast. I live in Mechanicsburg and would drive to Carlisle just to eat here when craving diner food. They also have military discount. I think it’s 10%. As I was paying, one of the ladies saw my military ID card inside my bag and asked if it was a military ID. I said yes and they punched it in and gave me a discount!

In terms of diners, the Walnut Bottom Dinner has taken Carlisle by storm! After replacing a staple restaurant location(a former Friendly’s), they’ve quickly established themselves as an even better option for families and friends alike. Open 24 hours a day, it’s great for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or late night. I eat here at least once a month. My personal favorites are the sausage gravy and biskets AND the Monte Cristo sandwitch. I probably order the sausage gravy the most often and while it’s a little pricy for a diner, the food is absolutely delicious.

Just another diner. Came here with a group of coworkers. I liked my food better reheated the next day, but the salmon that was ordered next to me was very good. As with any diner, the cook determines what dishes are good. Be wary of specials that may be made in bulk and sitting out to dry, but don’t be afraid from the ones that sound good either. I have only been here once and they are still very new, but I liked them. Its near my coworker’s house though and he hasn’t said anything bad about it after any of his visits either.
