This is really just a small store. Don’t come here expecting a tour. When we walked in, there was no one at all in the factory section which was a little odd. There was only one employee inside the actual store and he wasn’t too talkative. It was, overall, kind of an awkward, quiet experience. There are only a couple flavors of Mac nuts to choose from: plain, salted, and cayenne pepper. It’s hardly a candy factory, as they have one small, single basket of Mac nut candies. So really, your only reason for coming here should be to purchase Mac nuts, and for that reason I gave it 3 stars.

This is a great place to get Mac Nuts. Family owned. We LOVE the chocolate mac nut bark. Great price plus the chocolate is of high quality as are the mac nuts. We have been coming here for years. The quality remains high. We buy a bunch of bags and ship them home. Everyone loves the Mac nut bark. Great gift!

We have gone to the Big Island since the late ’80’s. We always make a point of stopping by this little«factory» and buying some Hawaiian Bark;(dark and milk chocolate; yummy!) and I always buy the macadamia nut pieces, unsalted, to bake with. For years, two older ladies ran the store and always had a smile when you entered the small room. They have retired now, but I guess it is still in the family. The nuts and chocolate bark are pretty reasonable. I certainly recommend a stop there when on the way through Captain Cook.

Best place for best price, freshest Mac nuts. Buy pkgs of halves and pieces they are still in better shape than those in the commercial blue pkgs at Target etc. and are a great buy at $ 10.95/#. Counter person absolutely doesn’t care about customer service, but you only need him to ring up and bag your purchase. Antique equipment displays are interesting but again it’s a self serve tour. Will continue to mail order from them now that I’m back in winter-land. Expect both great nuts at a great price and uninterested service and it’ll all be «cherry, brah».

Not by any means does this appear to be a factory, but it’s a nice little stop between the black sand beach and the airport. It’s more like a small antique museum. Give it a try and get a few macadamia nuts in the small little nut store. I’d stop by again.

A quaint, old nut and candy factory that is family-locally owned, that showcases some information about macadamia nuts and it’s history. There’s also an old, working macadamia nut husking machine, which is the highlight of the warehouse. The real operation is out back and below, where the macadamia nuts are received, husked, sorted, dried and everything else that they go through before being packaged and available for sale at their little store located in the corner of the warehouse. They sell a few types of chocolate macadamia nut candies and macadamia nuts by the bulk. You can also purchase some of their macadamia nut rejects at a discounted price. The rejects are just as tasty as the pretty packaged ones. My family purchased the pretty packaged macadamia nuts and candies as omiyage for family and friends and kept the macadamia nut rejects for ourselves to snack on or to bake with. They are perfect for making macadamia nut cookies. The best thing about this place is that you end up buying one of a kind gifts to take back home to your friends and family, which can’t be bought anywhere else except from this warehouse.

It was so awesome watching the guy crack Mac Nuts on the big rusty machine outside. Unfortunately there weren’t any samples and the man working in the storefront didn’t acknowledge us — even though we were the only ones there and we browsed for 10 minutes.

This is an outlet for nuts. My wife bought a three pound bag of macadamia nuts for $ 11.70. The prices are low, as they should be at an outlet. The place is primitive with lots of bags of nuts. This is a good place to go to get Hawaiian nuts at a low price.

I used to live just down the road from this place and it is wonderful. I’m sure it might not appeal to someone with an inflated view of commercialized Hawaii, but it is a VERY small business with all the seasonal ups and downs. It is quaint. The old time machines have instructions and do not require assistance from the limited staff. The chocolate and nuts are excellent, though depending on when you go in, you may be disappointed in the stock. The coffe bean chocolate is yummy and a real treat with locally grown coffeen My kids loved it here!

Overall: A factory? Really? We stumbled across the place and it’s really not worth the visit. The sign said«open», but it seemed more closed to us. We went in and looked around a little, there were old contraptions about — ones we would’ve loved to try out — but there was no one to ask! Out on to the back view of the farm, there were huge crates of empty mac-nut husks and quite a decent farm set up — all of which is sadly not open to the public. On going into the shop, it smelt musty and gross. The candy/nuts they sold there were rejects or made with chocolate that hadn’t been tempered. We left there pretty quickly, empty-handed.
