After a long drive, my mom and I were exhausted. But it was worth it because the place is magnificent. The moment I step into the store, I was astonished because of those beautiful and vivid paintings. I especially love«The garden of Grace» painting, and I bought it immediately. Customer service was great. The sellers tried to explain details of the paintings and their ideology. This place totally worth a 5 stars review. Highly recommended when you visit Santa Cruz, especially if you obsessed with landscaped paintings.

I e-mailed the Gallery with a picture of the painting I’ve had for years for an appraisal. They responded in a timely manner and were very gracious. I really appreciate how helpful they were in my venture in trying to sell my painting.

We have a Kinkade painting we are looking at selling and after e-mailing Thomas Kinkade Capitola Gallery Steve provided us with great advice. I appreciate Steve going out of his way to help us.

This gallery deserves a lot more credit. It was a sign that my friend and I walked in. This place is amazing. The paintings were fantastic and the way the lights were positioned on them made a huge difference. Steve, one of the workers, controlled the lighting to show us how the painting itself gave a certain look for a bright and dim look. It was a pleasant experience. The prices for these paintings are on point and well deserved. They are not like any other; these paintings bring out the adventure out of people. … I will be coming back to purchase a few things! Thanks a lot Thomas Kinkade!

For a Thomas Kinkade fan, this place seems like the best place to go and buy his works. We spoke with Tom Austen — he spoke to Will at length(Will is an avid TK fan) about the artist and works available. Yep, they do have lots of expensive stuff but… the smell inside wasn’t so great. In fact, it was kinda overwhelming. I couldn’t stand in there but a few minutes at a time. Then I’d wander back in, listen to the convo Will was having and finally we thanked Tom for his time. If you have money to blow and love TK works, this place has beautiful ones to buy. Stunning Wizard of Oz ones too! I’m a WOO fan and would love the Emerald City one but I think it’s a bit outta my price range. I can’t see myself paying over $ 500 for a piece, so $ 3000 for one is outta the question. Now they do have items for those of us who haven’t hit our 6 numbers yet :-P Puzzles, smaller prints(not originals) and novelties like mugs, night lights, magnets, etc. are all available for a decent price. I hope to be back and maybe that smell will be gone. Seriously, it was overpowering and affected my sinuses afterwards. All in all, it was a good experience and Tom was very friendly.

We bought our second Kinkade from this place as i called all the Kinkade galleries for the SFO Golden gate which was sold out. This place had the lowest price. I forget the owners name but he and his brother(?) were really friendly and knowledgeable. We arrived at the appointed time and got our painting touched up for free by an Artist. Do call this place. Its 45 minutes from SJC and we got to go to Capitola for the first time. Check the Italian restraunt next door as well. BTW, i noticed some of the reviews are more on their vent on Kinkade rather than this establishment.

Not only did I speak to them at length, they have the nerve to say I never responded, do yourselves a favor and buy your Kinkades elsewhere! They can’t tell the truth and blatantly lied about their product, with so many good businesses why bother with these people?

*~*Nice owner, slightly pricey but beautiful work*~* In beautiful beach front downtown Capitola, a Thomas Kinkade gallery not far from his home town. Lots of amazing work including the Disney collection. Honestly I don’t understand the whole authenticity deal, they were like copies but authentic-ish copies. I know not of the details of this industry. Pretty pictures though :) The owner was REALLY nice, he was super thoughtful, patient, and didn’t push me at all. This was my favorite stop in downtown Capitola. Recommend for the casual art appreciator and maybe not for the ultra art snob.

Not sure why the low stars. Have purchased two Disney Thomas Kinkade paintings here and it’s always been a highlight of my trip. Staff is friendly and you can really tell they are passionate about his work, the gentleman also gave me a discount because I was a repeat customer. Great experience will be back!

this stuff blows me away not in a good way but then, don’t think i’m quite their target market. Bully for TK, they’re out there.

I received an owner response to revisit the store and possibly change my review. This is my third time there, and lemme tell ya, it’s like reviewing a 7 – 11. Sorry, owner – your store still sequesters samples of(NOTE: Owner claims that there are some original works available here!) reproduced Stepford-like sentimental stuff. But, don’t worry. There are plenty of people with money who will love and buy your treacle(i.e.: «I don’t know art – but I know what I like!»). You even tempted my inner Grandma. And there was an interesting abstract portrait of «Christ», though derivative. BTW – Kinkade has trademarked the sobriquet«Painter of Light» which was originally attributed to Turner and Dufy in the 19th century. I’m sure that they are rolling in their graves. NOTE: The owner is being very defensive and misleading. This review is not one generated by Unilocal. This kind of art has its place. But, it is not being snobbish when noting the poor reproduction quality while being very expensive. To say that the style and technique is unprofessional and lacks any kind of life is my opinion of what even good art should be. If you want to buy this expensive crap, be my guest. And, if the owner wants to continue to bad-mouth my review, I’ll just print the rude and snide letter to me written by a family member. 9÷29÷15 Ahh. I see that the owner deleted his comment claiming that my review was fake. Well, here’s his message to me today with the previous offensive message from his employee following. Do you really want to shop here? Dear Larry, Please publish my original«Snide & Snobbish» letter to you like you threatened to do years ago. Just because you like abstract art doesn’t mean you should be rude to our family business That’s not right. Thomas Kinkade’s 1000 beautiful paintings are the most popular in history and now we display his nephew Zachary Thomas Kinkade’s artwork as well. Who is your favorite artist? Please reconsider your awful review. The reproductions are made here in Morgan Hill and are above HP’s process. Each limited edition is covered with original work by Thom or his apprentice. Who is creating better quality? I have not seen it. God bless! From Judy F. Five years ago Dear Lewd, Sorry you didn’t care for Thomas Kinkade’s «Capitola Sunset» and«Capitola Village» paintings. Did my brother show you the tribute to the President and Michelle in «San Francisco, Powell Street»? The painting also features Robin Williams, Alfred Hitchcock, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewert and others. We share«Faith & Family Values» is that the real reason you dislike our family business? Sending people to Sears to buy Piccaso is weird man. Please let people enjoy the artwork they like and don’t visit our store if you like something different. You were viewing Thomas Kinkade’s original work displayed along with beautiful Canvas Giclees and gift items that do touch people’s emotions around the Earth. Thank God Thomas lives near our store and helps our arft & music teachers locally. Thank you again for giving our wonderful Gallery another look. It sounds like you were touched by «The Prince of Peace» God bless, Steve & family My response: First off – I am blocking you, so don’t bother to reply. I’m sorry that you feel that I am attacking you personally or your store. My review was dealing with my opinion with the work of Kinkade. I have no problem with anyone’s religion or philosophy as long it doesn’t interfere with my own beliefs or other rights. I had no idea of your«Faith and Family Values» beliefs – how could I?. I had no intention of ever entering your store again for it holds no items of interest to me. My third visit was prompted by your response. Anyone else has the right to like or dislike Kinkade’s stuff or whether to buy or not buy from you, regardless of my opinion. I will add that, according to you, there are a few pieces of original artwork available. You should probably instruct your staff to inform customers which are reproductions and originals. The Sears Fine Art program was a big hit and dealt only with all original pieces or with small limited numbered runs. The«typo» in your salutation, «Dear Lewd» is petty and beneath your supposed beliefs. If you read Kinkade’s responses in interviews(2009 Good Times, for one), he obliquely admits that his is no great art. Again, don’t worry. He hit upon a formulaic art form that attracts a certain moneyed population and it is your right to try to cash in on this. You should be used to people either loving or hating his oeuvre and even negative reviews are free advertisement for your business.
