My husband had bought me a pair of Nike Free 5.0 and I was excited to wear them. However, they seemed to have no support at all and so I thought maybe I should get some insoles as I really wanted these sneakers to work(especially since they were a gift and $ 100). After a few months, they were making my feet and knees ache, these Nike’s are a terrible shoe. I called Nike and Footlocker corporate and they both pretty much said without a receipt there is not much they can do. I called over to Capitola Footlocker as a last resort and the gal told me to come in when the manager Shannon was working. All I wanted was a pair of sneakers that would provide support and I figured I had no choice but to purchase a new one which is a total bummer. I went to the store with my shoes and when I asked for Shannon he immediately put his hand out shook it and asked«How can I help you». He immediately gave me the Yes mentality. The first thing he did was review the shoe with me and the pro’s/con’s. Then he showed me a shoe(Asics) that would be a better support/fit for my needs. He said just try these on and I did and I must say they fit like a glove. All i wanted to do was get a different shoe within the same cost range, and I ended up spending a bit more out of pocket for a better fitting shoe. Shannon was so helpful, polite, professional and a great asset to Footlocker. I asked him how he liked his job and he said the company was great to work for and he was recently promoted to Santa Cruz manager. He is an asset as a manager and all while helping me he greeted every customer that walked into the store. If anyone is from Santa Cruz, we all know the service is sub par everywhere. He has exceeded my expectations and I am so happy with my new shoes. I do think Nike should have a better policy when customers are truly just not satisfied with a shoe, but I am happy to say I am now an Asics fan.

The man working seemed friendly enough until he started talking smack on the shoes I was wearing. The audacity!!! I wish the Lady Foot Locker was still open so I could take my business to a woman-friendly space. Also, can you believe they don’t carry reeboks?

Do not shop for shoes here. They get one star for the selection, but the service??? Worst I have ever seen. My wife and I entered the store to find it empty(albeit this was a Tuesday afternoon-7/6/10 if you care to know-in the Capitola mall), one male salesperson on his cellphone behind the counter and another who looked like she would rather be dangling off of a cliff than working there. We were not acknowledged by either of them when we walked in(the young lady also walked right by us as she tied her hair up-angrilly I might add-into a ponytail). We ended up leaving without so much as a peep from either of them. I cannot believe that these two people are on commission, yet they have no desire to work. Really irriatating and unacceptable. I ended up buying shoes in Gilroy as the shop next to the footlocker did not have my size.
